Robb and Elissa's Top Coaster List!
CoasterFanatic replied to Millennium ForceJZ's topic in Ask Alvey
Everyone elses list sucks! There is only one opinion that matters ... mine! Why do you guys care if Robb ranks MF at 1 or 100. If you like it, you like it. If you don't, then you don't. Maybe everyone should just let their own opinions reign supreme. // MF isn't my favorite hyper coaster either ... wanna fight? -
^^ Robb, I am really not trying to give a unfair assessment. Maybe I should describe my experience a little better. Most of our waits for Voyage (at least 6 of 8) were in the 10-15 minute range. Our first two rides were right after the ERT started on Friday and were a little longer but unless you were looking for front/back seat rides they were never over 20 minutes. I never saw Raven or Legend get over a 2-3 train wait. My group even managed some re-rides on both coasters. I am not a big "marathon" type ride but I am sure that their were some people who grabbed well over 40-50 rides on the Voyage over the weekend. If you were determined, it could be done.

Waldameer Discussion Thread
CoasterFanatic replied to Millennium ForceJZ's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The rep from Waldameer attended CoasterBash last year and brought along a model of the ride constructed by CCI. He also said the Gravity Group would be taking over the project. However, don't look for the next Voyage/Hades, the Ravine Flyer II will be a pretty modest sized coaster. The most exciting part looks to be the low turn after a drop over the "bluff". Here is a newsclipping stoledn from Paul D. -
I clicked on this thread expecting a loud, screaming and rediculous letter to a businessman who is only trying to get by. What I found instead is a sincere thank you to a man who tried his best to make things work out the right way. Thank you for proving me wrong. I enjoyed reading your memories about this park. May the eagle hopefully fly again. Even if it isn't in Americana.

PTR: Enka Fair!
CoasterFanatic replied to apollo210's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ Your right. It doesn't hold a candle to the Wisconsin State Fair! Take away the Orbitor and you have the same dirt festival that takes over my city of 25,000 twice a year. -
Cedar Fair buys PARAMOUNT PARKS!
CoasterFanatic replied to Canobie Fan's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
PCW is a beautiful park and while the fact that their coaster collection may not be the best, people still come in droves. Also, what is a spectacular ride to you and me could be a completely different scenario from what the public wants. Example: Dvorak (Columnist from MSNBC) completely blasted my site's rating system about a year or so ago. After a visit to SFMW, we stated that any site that gave "Roar" an 8/10 has no credibility and should not be taken seriously. Later in the same blog he gave Kong an A- rating. This type of thinking must be the reason that we waited over two hours to ride Top Gun two summers ago. -

What is up with all the ladies sporting umbrellas at Knott's. The skies look clear as hell. Nice TR. See you this weekend! -
Holiday World (HW) Discussion Thread
CoasterFanatic replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I think it is so bizarre how people think that a lot of attendees is a bad thing. It is a SOCIAL EVENT! The more, the merrier. Myself, I am looking forward to seeing a lot of great people that I might get to see about once or twice a year if I am lucky. -

I am pretty sure that I already have. Are they the same ones that are on the Racer's (Kennywood) new trains? -
Is SFMM safe?
CoasterFanatic replied to germancoasterfan's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Most parks in the US have some form of a Child Swap. It differs from park to park. You may want to try contacting the park to see what their policy is. -

Cedar Fair buys PARAMOUNT PARKS!
CoasterFanatic replied to Canobie Fan's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I think that the recent moves only solidify this position. They are trying to bring people in to the park and keep them interested without breaking the bank. This years additions are another example. Also, from my understanding, this park has the least amount of undeveloped space and would not be able to support the hotels like some of the others. Of course, I could be completely wrong. -

Intamin Drop Towers (ie: Drop Zone, Pitfall, etc) - I still get a little "concerned" during the free fall. -

Die! With that said ... I think a lot of people are over analyzing the situation and expecting way too much. Like it or not, this is nothing like the Premier/Six Flags feeding frenzy. CF is purchasing solid and independently profitable parks. Anyone who has been to Canada's Wonderland can see the potential to make some serious money. This was an opportunity that CF could just not pass up. Kinzel said that he would honor all new ride contracts for 2007. You know why? Because there aren't any. Paramount has been planning this move for a LONG time and companies are a lot easier to sell when they don't have a boatload of future contracts in the works. Here are my 8 SPECULATIONS regarding the purchase. 1) No new rides (at least over the $12mil mark) for 2007 at any of the Paramount Parks. 2) The Paramount Theme will be gone after this year. I don't even want to begin to imagine how much that 10 year option would be. My guess is that it would probably be more than they paid for the parks. 3) Season Passes will be good at all parks. The only exceptions will be in Ohio and Northern California where a add-on may be required. 4) Rides will be renamed. Many will take on the generic CF titles (Dominator, Steel Venom, Head Spin, etc) 5) Switch to Pepsi (Obvious) 6) CF will use a large portion of the undeveloped land surrounding that parks (except Carowinds) to construct value and moderate lodging. 7) Son of Beast will be gone in about 5 years. 8) Carowinds will be the "red-headed stepchild" of the family. Sorry guys. -

I have always wondered why some of them have it and some don't. I have never really found the rattle on TTD, Xcelerator or MF but it is always there on the Superman rides. However, MF was starting to sound and feel a lot like Superman this year. -

^ I am curious if they will merge the passes. Seems that the Paramount Parks were doing Ok by themselves. CBS/Viacom just didn't have any interest in running them anymore. Am I the only that thinks they may stay a seperate chain?
