  1. My guess is the latter.
  2. Nice TR Soren. You are brining back all kinds of old Tampa memories. I used to have to drive that miserable 275 to work every day.
  3. Other than discounts offered through outside vendors, expect all park tickets to do only one thing. Go up! // Cedar Fair this year is a very rare exception to the rule
  4. I actually prefer streaming. It is just so much easier. Video works fine in IE7 Beta 2.
  5. ^ See ... I am not the only one who has experienced this blessed anomaly. The park is DEAD the first couple of weeks (Monday thru Thursday). http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1756&highlight=cedar+point
  6. You got to be kidding me. This is the worse thing on Channel 11 since the Fedko Zone.
  7. ^ You really need to upload a sample of the voice over. I have a feeling that it would be hysterical.
  8. Tune in next week Derek, where the idols will sing the unforgettable songs of Bocelli! WTF
  9. I always thought it WAS a dive loop
  10. Weekdays in May are the best. The earlier the better. Other than that, the earlier in the season you go, the better the crowds will be.
  11. A "favorite flat ride" search returned a thread that has been around since almost the beginning of the site. Please search questions that seem common before starting a new thread. http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1003&highlight=favorite+favourite+flat+ride // closed
  12. More Photos: PPP 2005 It is fun to compare them to Robb's PPP photos and watch people age.
  13. This belongs in the "Come in and say Hi!" thread in the Random forum. // Closed
  14. All the wheel assemblies can tilt AND turn independently. This is part of the whole B&M is smoother that Vekoma argument. Since Vekoma's wheels don't articulate as well they have to build more tolerance into their track which in turn makes it rougher. Sort of like a woodie, but not quite as much tolerance. I know the picture is of an Arrow wheel assembly, but you get the idea.
  15. I have been a coaster lover all my life, but never realized it until only a few years ago. I get into the nerdy side as much as the next guy, but I like to keep it real when visiting the parks. I also like to hit parks at a very modest pace and feel that the memories that I make with other people during visits is more important than the coasters or anything else. I have met lots of great people (and a few weirdos) through this hobby and I feel I am a better person for knowing them. Hell, I could go to Knoebels the first weekend of October and not go on one ride and still have the time of my life. Hopefully the "enthusiast" community hasn't scared you too much. For every self-absorbed p**ck you run across, there is a really good person out there.
  16. ^ Not really sure that any extra roughness would really be noticable, but the ride would be different. I think you are starting to get it. The first photo that I posted really demonstrates it best. Arrow suspendeds are completely different because each car has two axles. While the B&M models have 4 wheels, it is still technically only one axle.
  17. So how do the Pens figure into all this?
  18. Nice photos Mark. I only wish that the Hurricane was at good as your photos.
  19. I used to live a couple blocks away from BGT, so Kumba is kind of the "girl next door" for me. I've had her so many times that I know her like the palm of my hand (did I just say that). I have always been partial to doing her in the back, but every once in a while I like to do it in the front. I just love the view.
  20. ^ But those 4 wheels are not always parallel to the train. Part of the reason why B&Ms are so smooth is that the wheel assembly can move in all directions. The cars ARE trailered and you can not send just one car. It would be the equivalent of sending an untrained rider down a hill on a unicycle. Without the zero-car concept, now you have 8 people riding 8 seperate unicycles with the hands on the shoulder of the person in front of him/her. With the cooperation of the front two cars, they would fall like a set of dominos. // Hey ... it makes sense to me.
  21. I don't really think that Darien Lake will be going anywhere soon. Say what you want about the lack of new rides, but Darien has been treated pretty good by Six Flags. The new management is interested in the "A-List" properties and while Darien isn't there yet, it does have a good bit of potential. The campground, premier concert venue and close proximity to Buffalo and Toronto should keep it a Six Flags property. On that same note, I am curious how Shapiro and company would have handled the Geauga Lake property. My guess is that it wouldn't have been their first choice for an expendable property.
  22. ^ not just the Swing Around, but the entire Garden Stage is going bye-bye! http://www.kennywood.com/attractions/whatsnew.php This is not the first time that the Huss flat has been removed. It was taken out (Along with the Little Dipper) in the mid 80s to make way for the Raging Rapids
  23. "I'm going off the rails of a crazy train!"
  24. ^ They will say that it is purely for stability, but nobody seems to be satisfied with that answer. It isn't sexy enough. People want to believe that there is some mysterious reason why this is the only invert that has it. Probably has nothing to do with the fact that it is also the tallest. If B&M was to build a 200ft floorless, you better believe that it will have a "zero car" also.
  25. I already have a nice copy on DVD, so it really doesn't matter to me whether or not the re-release it. If they plan on altering it before release, I wish they would just keep it on the shelf. // Remembers watching "Song" during it's last theater release.
