  1. I am Paul on this one. Canon SD***
  2. All B&M coasters technically have a "zero car". The only difference is that some have seats on it and some don't. The first two rows of all B&M Inverts and Floorless coasters tilt at the same angle, no matter what the other cars are doing. This picture really explains it better than anything: Notice the space difference between the first two rows.
  3. I am pretty much with Tim on this one. Kennywood is my closest and fits right into my top three.
  4. I have only been to SFA once, but my experience was much better than what I hear from other people. Even with that in mind, I would pick BGW. Especially since your friend isn't a big coaster person.
  5. Since I subscribe to Netflix and own a DVD burner, I would be here for days. To give you a taste, here are some complete director collections: Scorcese Burton Spike Lee Todd Philips Kuprick Eastwood Coen Brothers Terry Gilliam Farvaeu (sp?) Kevin Smith etc ...
  6. I have been pretty dissapointed in the "idols" this season. They got a real batch of crap. The only exception is probably Chris. If he picks the right songs, he is going to walk away with the title. I also like Taylor for his good-time personality, but I don't really think he is the "idol" type.
  7. Personally, I have always thought that steel-supported woodies would be harder to maintain. My reasoning is that since the structure doesn't flex as much, the track and surrounding wood supports are forced to take the brunt of the force. // counts GhostRider as steel supported (since the support structure is doubled, it really feels like a steel supported woodie)
  8. All I know about them was that they were at PTC about the same time as the Kennywood Racer trains (last spring). I would imagine that BPB has had them for a while now. If they got the same treatment as Kennywood's, then they have new dividers (hollow for more room) and new seatbelts.

  10. I need one of these: http://www.seniorshops.com/sonic1000.html
  11. US Mexico Canada United Nations (Does that count? It is on International soil after all) and New Jersey
  12. *Cough* CoasterFanatics *Cough* // We consume more beer per member than all other clubs combined
  13. ^ I didn't mean to come off too strong, but I am surprised that Jeff let any "meet-up" thread last very long. He will usually point people to the Calendar and then close the thread. If it is a sanctioned event then I could see him keeping it open. I do understand that the parks never seem to really "sanction" these particular kind of events. Anyways, I didn't intend to add more fuel to the fire with my comments. I was only hoping to lighten the situation. People are always going to have strong opinions about the subject and chatting on this or any discussion board isn't going to change anyones minds. In the future, if you want to see what members intend on attending any particular event, it would probably be best to add it to the calendar or start a roll call. These methods seem to avoid all the noise that comes along with "meet-up" threads.
  14. True. People make of Rastus's mullet all the time (Sorry Robb and Jay. I couldn't resist) Anyways ... I don't think its really an issue of it being a "gay day" so much as meetup threads kind of clutter the boards and just bring out the worst in people. Coasterbuzz probably flamed you more because they don't allow meetup threads than because you were promoting a "gay day" event.
  15. ^ He never said that they made bad coasters. He only said what most people have already concluded about Denise. I must have heard most of the stories a hundred before. It is nothing new.
  16. From what I gathered listening to John at CoasterBash, the ride will have a "side-friction" portion before the actual "turns". This is to help lengthen the ride a little bit. I have attached a drawing with my best guess as to what the drawing means. I could be completely wrong ... or not.
  17. You can thank Cliffs for the way that the New Mexico Rattler. CCI went out of business with less than half of the coaster complete. Cliffs completed the construction. Have you ever seen how massive Shivering Timbers is? It has to have at least 3X the materials of Ozark. http://www.angelfire.com/mn/RunawayMT/1/100pt2.html Just to get an idea.
  18. Not to be a Debbie Downer or anything, but Fantastic Voyage was performed by Lakeside.
  19. Maybe you should have waited on the iPod then
  20. I do believe that the boat used to only be divided into two parts. I could be wrong though.
  21. ^ True. When Shivering Timbers costs about the same as the Ozark Wildcat, you know there is a pricing problem. Can anyone ever think of a better million dollar investment than the Raven?
  22. I am digging on that Dudley at night picture. I might have to try to get one of those on my next visit.
  23. The magnetic brakes on Flying Unicorn are a "retro-fit". The ride used to have a very hard brake at the end of the ride. Actually, the particular brake that is on the Flying Unicorn is MUCH better than the Intamin brake. It adjusts to the speed of the train and engages in proportion to that. That means that the train is always going the same speed at the end of the brake run. http://www.velocitymagnetics.com/ You can also find their products on most of Kennywood's coasters.
