Even with the earlier closing time, I would DEFINATELY go on a weekday. There is a huge difference between weekday and weekend crowds in May. The only time that I ever went the Priceline route was after last years Epcot meetup. We ended up getting the Clarion (Behind Wet and Wild) for $60 on a holiday weekend. It was pretty decent but not worth anything more than $60.

I will also vouch for the Movieland (Best Western) Hotel on International Drive. It goes around the $50 range and it is clean. Also, Wet and Wild is right across the street.
