However... Copied from CPs Site My sister made her own waist pack that doesn't even clip - its one size that she has to wriggle into like some suit. On top of that it does close with a zipper. Its also half the size of a regular fannie pack. However, she continues to be asked to take it off and store it in a bin - even though it exceeds the qualifications. You can say alit of times it may go overlooked - which I'm sure it does, but theres no other way to explain her situation as Ride Ops just being jerks. Obviously you are working in a fast paced environment - I do too - but you still gotta take the time to look at each situation. They haven't even asked her to show them that it exceeds their rules - they just are ignorant to anything other than the standard waist pack. While being overly strict is safer, it can be damaging when its not even following the rules like this case. Another one to add is Ive seen people with small cameras that are secured to them via a leather peice that your belt loops through twice. Then, the camera is stowed in a zippered pocket. Again, a hundred times safer than a fannie pack that uses a plastic clip that Ive seen break a hundred times over. I definatly feel that these safety rules are not developed properly. For instance: Thats an accident waiting to happen. The cargo pants Im wearing now have buttons and they suck at keeping anything in them. Velcro is margainly better but buttons? Ive nearly lost things on rides in my cargos with buttons and know not to wear them. But when someone doesnt, I hope whoever came up with these rules actually thinks to test them before posting them up for all to follow.

AMEN! Well that would mean MF is probably lower than that. Theres no way MF is better than Mav. MF is 50 seconds of boring airtimlessness. -

With more people in the park you cant really lose money. What does the cost of a ticket really cover? When you add in how much money a single person pays for all the other things...food, drink, games and parking - what else is being covered? Food and drink alone are so marked up its insane. I refuse to pay for bottled pop at the parks. I can get a 20oz Mt Dew at the grocery store for 99 cents. Thats marked up. So what is 3.00??!@# But, they can get it - so its understandable from that standpoint. But really, the more people they bring in, the more money thats spent doing other things. Plus, alot of people have the mentality that if you save money in one area, you spend it in another. So if you save 30 bucks on admission, thats 30 bucks towards more food or games. -
EL TORO vs. THE VOYAGE

Cedar Point won't get a new woodie for as long as Dick Kinzel runs the show. He told this to BeemerBoy point blank this year at their ERT. Yea, I saw. Well, Im sure Intamin could pull off the fact that "its not really a wooden coaster" and sell it as steel - maintanece has to be nearly the same, but Im sure Kinzel would stick to his guns that "wood is bad". I used to like Kinzel a bit, now I cant stand him. That comment alone plus his inability to meet and greet people around the park. -
EL TORO vs. THE VOYAGE
Real replied to imbordisux's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Every ride is effected as it goes on throughout the day. Steel, wood, rubber and grass coasters all generally get a bit faster as the day progresses. I do respect the aspect Robb is pointing out that a top notch ride should be good all day. Thats something I could see looking at. It depends on if you like the anticipation of riding throughout the day and each ride being different or each time you ride its the same thing. I, as youd expect, lean towards my rides being different. I have read and agree that Toro gets a bit faster and crazier at night - its expected. But the difference from a day ride on Voyage (which, I still think is crazy) and then night is like having 2 rides in the same coaster. I got some rides again with no moon (haha) and the moon didnt decrease gravity or anything, but your perception of speed is increased 10-fold when theres virtually no light to be seen for half the ride. On my walkback I wanted to throw a rock at that light on the mid course and break it into a million little peices. Oh well, dont think Graham from TGG would have liked that much... I think however that the fact that it even operates from morning till dusk like a steel coaster solidifies my statements about its difference from traditional wood and into its own category. I disagree that Raven is that great at 10am. Its good, definatly not 5pm or 9pm good. Maybe that ride holds sentimental value? Its a charmer for alot of people. However, I will be the first inline if someone convinces that burning down Mean Streak and replacing with a El Toro-Balder is a good thing at CP. I cant see, even after their issues with Intamin, that tearing that down and replacing with a PnP wouldnt both benefit their attendance AND maintenence thus reducing costs. -
Waited a bit, till I was 17. However, it ended up lasting for quite some time...

Im pretty sure the MF trains were just ripoffs/updates of an older train by Prior and Church? No ones ripping off the MF trains...just updating on a very, very old style. -
They can alter the wheels and get a totally different ride. I actually had someone tell me they were reported too that while the first half is slightly slower, it carries more speed - which would make sense if the wheels were changed out. However, you cant increase speed too much or the RT hill will get out of control. At least theres no trim on it...yet.

Alot has to do with rider height and more spefically a riders torso height. The longer your torso the more you hit the restraints. The second is how people choose to ride. Some ride holding on, or, in generally resisting the forces put upon them. When the ride goes right, they lean right to fight the motion going left. Then, some people ride like rag dolls. They think you should be able to relax and just go limp and the ride wont move you around. Ive run into a few people who do that and then when they are told to sit with their head firmly against the headrest (and dont) then complain, Ive got no sympathy. If you are grossly tall, nothing you can do. If you dont ride defensivly on some rides, your fault. Ive ridden Maverick both ways and yes, one way is far more "rough" while the other way is very smooth. -

I must say, the couple of comments made were rather humorous... As for the accident, thats ridiculous and crazy. Definatly a 1 in an insanleylargenumber shot of anything like that happening. I think the girl who gave up her seat actually may suffer more than the girl who got the de-footication. Seriously, it would be like the person who calls into work the day of 9/11 and a buddy is called in your place. Shes gotta be so disturbed right now. -
Plus, no picture of an onride picture on a computer moniter will be worth anything. Ill remember to take a video camera next time and just aim it at the whole thing to see if I can black out the entire screen. Seriously though, thats one of many reasons CP disgusts me. They crab over the things that dont matter and then dont crab over the things that do matter. Whats it going to take to make them realize they still manage like theyve got their heads up their... Some things just arent worth tackling.

I accept you were disappointed at first, but, it doesnt make sense to me. Frankly, I dont go to Cp but to ride Mav, TTD and Raptor. The rest of the rides are just filler and most of them (flats) can be found elsewhere. Your case sounds like pure coinendence. I never got stapled on any of the rides and specifically Raven. I rode back seat every single time and no one even attempted it. I think alot of it was just chance. However, I think your overall experience is you kind of wanted to be upset. When I got there Friday morning, ran to Voyage only to be told it was down and would open "late" (exact word used) I was very disturbed. However, dont let them tell you. I asked several more workers as I got closer to Voyage and their words changed from "Late" to "later". I just drove 6 hours for virtually nothing. Of course, 1 hour later it was open, I was walking and talking with Michael Graham and I couldnt be happier. The very same thing happened Saturday, it was open around 12:30 (or at least breathing life into itself) I just think its silly to say you had a bad time when you still rode everything you wanted, just a couple hours later than normal. Heck, the woodies arent even good till afternoon and later! (cept Voyage - good all the time). They would have to close Voyage and/or another ride all day for me to say its a bad experience. Or close the ride late so I cant have a night ride. Which, at CP, has happened to me more times than I can count. Ive waited 6 hours for Dragster for it to never open. Ive been denied my ride after the park closed several times (for breakdowns). I cant be bothered by rides opening later. Especially at HW where theres no hurry to ride 50 rides in 8 hours. And especially when they all open, all run great and all run super efficiently. Makes up for rides opening early, then closing later and/or going up and down all day And about IB, been there twice. Once in the morning, not that much fun - park was dead! Once at night, park was alive and AWESOME. Cornball in the morning with 2 people on a train is fun but not great. Cornball at 10pm, full train is crazy, simply crazy. Same for LoCoSuMo. -

4 Park trip or the Loop around Cincinnati
Real replied to jamesdillaman's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Well, for one, Ive never heard of this going on at any park. Ive never seen where CP engineers do this in the middle of the night. I even watched a special where he said they wake up early and do it around 7am or so. Sure, its early and before the park opens, but you cant catch everything. He even said, sometimes you walk it one day, then the next you run into a few things that take longer than expected. The work they were doing on Voyage wasnt just tightening, it was replacement. Which is a completely different beast. Secondly, I dont see how having one ride opening one hour late, then another 2 hours late means they are in trouble. Hell, if thats the case CP is screwed! I open that park several times a year and every single day TTD, MF or another big ride is closed for some time. Not to mention the downtime they already have. Raptor has had more downtime than usual it seems as well. Ive also heard and seen that Maverick, as reliable as it should be, suffers the same fate usually not starting up exactly first thing. Im a little confused because, as I said, I was there and we rode Raven 3 times, Voyage 3 times and Legend once. Longest wait was 30 minutes for back seat on Voyage. Considering that any wait under 30 minutes is an absolute blessing at CP, Ill take 30 minutes on whats possibly the worlds greatest ride. I can understand frustration, I sat around for an hour waiting just incase it suprise opened on us but didnt. We even went into the water park for around 5 hours of our day, rode Bakuli, Zoom, Jungle Racers (twice), Otarongo, Go slide and putzed around plus eating. Its definatly more crowded each year but untill the wait for Voyage is 1 hour and Raven is 40 minutes and Legend is 40 minutes - Ill refrain from saying they are doing a bad job. They were only running 2 trains on Voyage as well compared to 3 last year and still dispatched very quickly. -

I was there. I was wearing a Gravity Group hat the whole day. I actually had the opposite kind of day. Voyage didnt open because they were still finishing some bolt replacements down on the track just as you enter the last tunnel under the bridge. I asked a few of the guys how long and they said about noonish. They started moving trains around that time but he did mention they still had to walk a part of the track. I wasnt complaining though, at least work was being done unlike other parks. The water park was VERY crowded, but it wasnt unbearable. The only lines to move slowly were the large tube rides but even still we only waited maximum around 40 minutes. The Jungle Racers took like 15 minutes and we walked onto the double tube slides. Aside from the rides opening a little late, even with both lots full Voyage was a cool 25-35 minute wait and Raven was almost walk on the entire day. -

SPent last friday with Michael Graham of the Gravity Group at Holiday World and to put into perspective how SMALL of a land plot this ride fits into, it would fit into the land occupied by Voyages station and last turnaround. Which is insane. -

Yea, and with that low, but decent count I have even I think alot of CP's rides arent that great. They arent even all that super fun unless you have the right people. And the right people can make any ride fun. Add to that fact that Im studying for Engineering school and I dont find many of CP's rides, other than Raptor, Maverick and TTD to be that inspiring from an engineering standpoint. Maybe its living too close, having too much of CP, or its that coupled with their rides not being that exciting. Its probably both. -

But it was only their second (not techincally, but Hades was such a newer design from CCI) ride and similar to Hades. BB shows their ability to design diverse rides and while I agree, Voyage speaks volumes, this just adds to the fact that they are premiere designers. That and the Ravine Flyer 2 project...wow. -

Since Im going to assume that you were aiming that at me...I didnt bring up stats, its just what you feel on the ride. It doesnt take a rocket scientist to figure it out - just ride. And as you said, entire ride experience matters. Basically, for an accurate representation, look at Mitch Hawkers poll. Mf has by and large the most riders - only 6th. Ive been on two of the rides below it and I think they are both more fun than MF is even. I think MF suffers from so many people saying its the best, partly from its golden ticket status, that many just dont want to say its not that great. That and height and speed are two of the larger phobias so for most people its da scurriest ride eva...haha. -

At least someone understood... Really, you think that the rest of the ride which probably averages 2G's and 65-75mph featuring very little airtime or positive G's is that great a layout? If I wanted to go really fast Id go ride Dragster. The only real thrill to MF is that drop and the overbank is rather nice. What puzzles me is how people like Mf over a ride like Maverick. Maverick beats it in every single category other than height and speed. Airtime, amount of airtime, transitions, intensity, positive G's, lateral G's, list goes on. Mf's drop is good, but the rest of the ride is typical of a large ride - uneventful. Its not even a top tier ride in my eyes. I cant think of a single good moment coming back into the station other thant he bunny hill by the station but that lasts 1 second at most. Plus, considering I could build probably 2 Mavericks with all the steel that MF gobbles up... -

You can tell this guy is a hater!!! To claim that not one CP coaster cracks the top ten, you are nuts!! Don't be jealous of CP. Actually its called "Getting out and riding other rides other than only visiting CP in your lifetime and realizing that majority of CP's rides are not that great" MF is a borefest compared to Maverick. Honestly, Id rank MF higher if all it did was go up the hill, come down, go through the overbank and end. -

I do kind of agree that the trains are cartoonish. In person or not, Im sure they look slick in person but the fact that its not 3d art but just airbrush art is rather disappointing.
