Tigger hits kid at Disney World
Real replied to Zen Coaster's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
He was screwin with the back of his costume and to avoid ruining it for other kids, I think he reacted "ok". For alot of kids and parents that would be a sensitive issue if the little ones found out hes just a person. They dont comprehend that and it would or could crush some kids. Do I think thats a little silly? Yes, but its how kids are - especially if they are whole heartedly into the scene. He didnt punch the kid or anything. He was screwin with Tigger and he just reacted to keep his costume on. Why do people even make this an issue? -
I might have been there for that barrage of roll backs. Ive been there a couple of times when it rolled back 3 and sometimes 4 times before a successful launch.

http://soccernet.espn.go.com/columns/story?id=399503&root=mls&cc=5901 http://www.mercurynews.com/mld/mercurynews/sports/16439846.htm Beckham leaves Real Madrid to make $50 mil a year over 5 years. INSANE. Now I get to see him though. Marks a new era for the MLS which, if werent for this, probably wouldnt have lasted.

Im with Rock on this one. If its supposed to be a phone, let it be a phone. Ill listen to my music on a music player, ala my iPod. When I want to call someone, Ill use my phone - not my music player. Im not really fond of this, plus the price is ridiclous!

Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

Shes in for it then...and shell definatly find out how geekie we can be here. -
Well, when you lose one of the more key players right from the start, one of the players that spreads your offense out, it really allows the defense to control you. And in college ball, its not like you can dig back and get another key player like you can in the NFL. We still got killed, but it would have been a bit different with Ginn in the game. Oh well, thats the game.

Want me to pull exact quotes? It was mentioned about a billion times how its smoother, most technological and all that Intamin Pre-Fab stuff. No where did anyone say it wouldnt be the smoothest...I even recall one person saying it could be "too smooth" - absolutly nothing new with those comments.

No kidding, isnt that words to build by. Ive always favored a ride with fluctuating speeds and forces over one thats just one insane speed with constant and repeatable forces.

No doubt its hard to do, but I could demonstrate (especially IRL) easily, almost on a daily basis. If you even look up the definition of condemn, the very first section is on judgement - passing judgement - the very passage I was using in my last post talked about that. I can disagree with someone and think they are wrong, but its different than passing judgement. Because obviously you and alot of others would disagree with my beliefs which is expected. Its just when its taken to the action of condemnation, thats when its a problem and Ill be the first to tell ya - yea, its a problem within many Christian churches sadly. But you cant fault the people who are in those churches and you cant even fault the ones who lead them. They a following a model that was put forth by a perfect person with the expectations of perfection. Impossible without the grace we are given. The second strike against it is the majority of people will corrupt any given system or belief. No one here can claim they arent a hypocrite to something because we all trip up. I find that not only do alot of these "christians" need to get a grip, loosen up and start reading what Love really is, but the same can be said for the rest of the world who stands ready to pass judgement on any christian that trips - Ive been victim to that type of person many times already.

Rock, heres the thing though. I can think that someone elses beliefs are invalid, but how I go about relaying that will completely shape the entire situation. In Jesus life, I cant think of only a few instances where Jesus condemned in a way that is what you guys are talking about. Majority of the time, he did what Christians are called to do - love. Its the basis for following Jesus. Its also more dangerous than anything weve discussed here because it usually ends up making people examine themselves in ways that tend to upset them. The difference for between condemning and telling someone they are wrong lies in the action. If you condemn someone, you cant show them much love. Condemnation is more of an act than simply saying, you are wrong. I do it on a daily basis at my work where I work with my employees to help them do things the correct way. I can tell them they are wrong and not change how I treat them. But if I full out condemn what they do, Im going to change myself because its the nature of condemning. Condemnation requires hate where telling someone they are wrong, does not. What scares me most is when a Christian may simply tell someone what they believe - which may include saying they dont agree with someones beliefs - and they dont change their lifestyle or how they treat that person, but the other reacts extremely negatively. I see it alot on internet boards especially. Ive got one gay friend in particular who I think is awesome. He knows I dont agree with that, but Ive never treated him any different than any one else I know. I am fairly certain he doesnt think or treat me any different from anyone else he knows, and I would be saddened if I found out he did because it wouldnt make any sense. If more Christians just went out and loved people, more people would ask them why because its just not normal these days. Hate rules the land so anyone whos just outwardly loves people is constantly asked why, why and why. I find that, as been said before, far too many think they need to take their beliefs to everyone elses face. Its just not effective. Ill leave with this quote from a dcTalk song:

Well, it may feel a tad slow, but watch the forces. The triple down ends with a -1.5 hill underground into a fairly high speed cork. The helix could have started low and ended high, but instead I opted to go high, burn off a little speed, only gain it all plus adding alot of positive G's only to hop up for one last burst of airtime. When you start to understand why rides are made like they are (much like Voyage) then you can better see patterns like that. Plus, with the amount of rotational force the riders feel on that twist up to the top of the helix (pulling a fairly decent lateral of like 1.2 I think) I doubt speed would be on your mind as you get whipped through that. Just things to ponder, I appriciate your comments.

That, is where the age-old never ending debate will center too. Science wants a completely tangible object entitled "God". Just like you can put water into a bowl or squeeze air into a cylinder. But, to me, God is in alot of places, encompassing all that we live in. I can look at a forest and say "God is right there, just look at the complexity". Or same with the oceans, especially the oceans since my recent cruise I went on. Same with the human body, in a way, i see the fingerprints. However, science doesnt want the fingerprints, it wants the actual entity which itself is omnipresent so obviously there is no way to put God in a box and do a study. I especially like to say "Theres God" when Science fails to provide answers to mysteries that have existed or come up on a daily basis. I myself am a medical miracle where I had a blood mass the size of a fist jammed in my lower back resting up against my stomach preventing me from eating much. I was told the earliest a mass this size could disentegrate (the only way to get rid of it was to just wait) was no less than 5 weeks, more than likle 6-7. It was completely gone with no trace it ever existed in 2 weeks. I went in 2 times during those 2 weeks to get CAT scans, of which the mass was dissolving at a normal rate. So they had data inbetween to go off of. The start of the 3rd week on my 4th CAT scan, it was gone as if it never existed. I went through several doctors, all of whom said "We have no explanation and we couldnt come to one if we wanted - all the evidence is gone - it was a miracle". The people who claim miracles dont happen anymore are completly blind the thousands of miracles that happen every day. Ironically, one of the fields that seems to butt heads with religion on a daily basis, medicine, seems to pop up the most unexplainable miracles on a consistant basis. Sure, you could say that its because we dont or cant have the knowledge to understand what went on but its probably meant to be that way. TheBannedKid - I find this popping up alot now, where its somehow wrong to believe others are wrong or going to hell. Why is your sister suddenly a bad person for believing someone is going to hell? If what she believes differs from a Jew, then wouldnt she obviously come to that conclusion? Im just perplexed as to why that voids her from trying to live a pure life.

^haha, nice detective work

No, it couldnt. Would have pulled too many lateral G's. I could have then made the track longer, but, its a rocket coaster - not a full length coaster. It still needed to have decent capacity. I already increased the speed by 2mph on the launch from the original to boost the G Forces which are fairly maxed out for the ride. Speed is nothing if the track isnt designed properly (AKA Milennium Force)

I never said math was broken, nor implied. I simply was posing an outrageous idea (isnt that a big part of science?) that maybe the math we know isnt the entire math. And I am talking about numbers too. Its very hard to imagine that theres something out there beyond numbers that could add or subtract (more math) from what we have, but I think its foolish to lock the issue out just because its incredibly hard to imagine. Additionally too because it was already mentioned that numbers represent what is - but do we know all there is to know on that subject? Im most just posing questions to stir the brain to think. But, as with most Scientifics, once their brain reaches the point where they cant go past, its stopped and accepted. Its just like God, religion or beings we cant explain with Science. Is that because there is NO way, or because we arent smart enough to devise a way? A long time ago we couldnt comprehend that the Earth wasnt the center of the universe, till we got a little smarter and devised some ways to make a theory which could then later be validated. Same for the Earth being flat. My theory/question is mearly this. Fact is relative. Fact is relative to the amount of knowledge we have at that given moment. Because as someone else pointed out, years down the road we could get a little smarter and go back and find out its wrong and fix it. Was it a fact? For that time, but it isnt now. Its alarming that so many people have warped some of the things Ive said, especially reguarding numbers, when I am working towards being an Engineer! Think outside the box. Spooky - I never said I hated you or anything resembling that. And as a Christian you should be open to another Christian talking to you about what you believe. Being part of that family means you part of the community - a community that talks about all those little idiocincracies(sp) we have. I dont believe that just parts of the Bible are to be followed, but all of it. But I know and have friends who have your exact beliefs, none of whom I hate nor do I get on their case. I would think theres a major problem if one of your major pet peeves is someone who tells you what they think - without condemning you - something I didnt do. To me, and this may suprise some people, that makes me think you arent open to growth, change and maturity - some of the major keys to a Christian faith. There are some things that were parts of my belief years ago that I deemed were good and ok but through the years, studying, prayer, etc. I came to change them because it ended up being both better for myself and better for my relationship with God. Im certainly not offended by anything youve said, or anyone else. Last thing Im going to do is try and convert someone which is why Ive stuck to statements about my own beliefs (pretty sure thats the topic) and asking others about theirs. Just like I wont touch Catholism or Muslim, Hindu etc with a 10ft pole because I know very little about them. Only way to gain knowledge is to get others to talk about theirs. EDIT - One more thing Spook, nude pictures of ones self is not what I would even consider sin. Depending on the act depicted withn (duh) the human body is incredibly beautiful and one of the greatest art peices the world will ever see. Being an amatuer photographer, I respect and admire nude photography thats done to beautify the body and the humans we were created to be.

Ahh, but to truely believe and accept also means you need to do what you say, put in effort. A decision made with that kind of heart would lead a person not to a life of lakadazical attitude, but a zealous attitude. When people make desicions that are made with passion (as such this decision should be) then that often carries over for long periods of time. Of course people will falter here and there, thats life. But I dont believe the people who kind of throw it out there to God really mean it or understand what they are doing and thus, arent receiving the forgiveness they want.
-
Because then you completely dilute your own beliefs by watering down what you believe with what others believe. See, since you've never truely tried this, you cant understand how to seperate the two. Such as premarital sex. Its part of alot of peoples lifestyles. I disagree with it. But if I go around just accepting it because alot of people do it, how am I practicing what I believe? How am I being different from everyone else if I just accept all the things I am supposed to view as wrong? and I become a hypocrite if I say its wrong, then go and do it. Just as I would also be a hypocrite to myself if I told everyone its "ok" but inside I viewed it as wrong. That path leads to Universalism where everything is "ok". A highly dangerous path. But the catch to that is that Im not doing the condemning. But I still view it as wrong. Its when people seperate the two entities, then condemn that things get really sticky. Read the story in the Bible of the adulterer that no one condemns. Did Jesus say what she did was ok or that he accepted it? No. He mearly said that since the others were no more rightous than her, that they do not condemn - and neither does he. So go and turn from what wrong you did. Simple. And your statement that faith is not an action is proposterous. The very CORE of faith is action. The emotional part is far less a part of faith than action. The faith you speak of sounds like just emotional belief. Real faith is tested and acted upon. For one, Knowledge is an essential part of faith. The story of Peter walking on the water - thats hardly emotional and purely action. If you NEVER test your faith, its not faith at all. Action is the core faith - without it, faith doesnt even exist.

*buzzer* Incorrect. Tolerance? No. Acceptance as a person? Mine does. But no where does it say to tolerate...Watch word choice. Science itself could be a religion then. We barely know anything when you sit down and start to ponder what we dont know. Plus, Science is always changing. Very few things are laws, very few. Then, still few are rock solid facts. Alot of the ideals and such printed in text books are "accepted" theories. They havent been completely proven, but, because we may or cant fully prove it, but it should be right (because we cant fully understand) it is accepted by the majority. So, in reality, science is in the same boat. Heck, alot of science is faith based anyways. Whos to say that math, the very numbers we created, are even accurate at all? Whos to say we havent totally missed another numbering system? But, its all we know. The thing thats missed is that true religion is created by man for man. Therefore, its flawed, imperfect and going to be corupt at some level. Its evident throughout all religion. This is why I dont think God/Jesus wanted Christianity to take the turn that it did, but also knew it would. Its as much community as it is self, but man perverts every thing it touches. Man is greedy (aka USA), dishonest and selfish. Most non-Christians can pick out a fake in moments with very little knowledge of what a Christian is. Why? Because alot of our very basic morales and principals are rooted in that. When someone isnt genuine, its easy to spot. And then when they claim to know a God who is genuine and who is truthful, wow - doesnt that contradict itself? Of course. Sure, all people are imperfect but the difference between someone who seeks God all the time versus that Sunday Seeker is obvious. Jesus is my savior, Religion is not. I hate the word religion. It just speaks of the coruption man has put on itself. And if you ever come to know someone or a group who are part of a truely communal following of Jesus, youll see the difference immediatly. You may try to deny it, but its there. Well, the bolded is where I want to look. So, if someone isnt educated on a subject, or their world views (which shape alot of what we know, but is very vague) have skewed them from the truth, then how is that a valid statement? When it comes to religion, alot of what we know is world view. We have probably gotten it second hand from someone who claims to be in it, but really isnt. Or weve read something off the internet. Or whatever. But untill you dive in 100%, instead of tip-toeing in, you cant make a statement like that. There is alot that makes no sense to me about God...but I understand my mind, a human mind, may not have the capacity to understand. Or, I may not have done the studying or the devotion/fasting/etc to understand. Or I may simply have not gone through a life trial that teaches me something. There is ALOT that 1,2 4 years ago I was clueless on that I am crystal clear on now. Majority of that dealing with relationships with people. The real faith is stepping into the unknown and running the race till the end. Youve not used faith if youve peered your head inside the door only to say "hmmm...I dont get it" and then pulled your head back in. If you walk through the door, maybe turn the light on thats across the room to understand - thats faith. I dont know what tomorrow brings. I dont know what obstacle I have in my way. What I do know is the present. I like this quote from Jim Tressel, Ohio State Football Coach: Ive found that people who live in the past, well, they tend to be pessimists. Dwelling on past failures or even successes. People who live in the future tend to miss all thats around them as well, always preparing for the future - but never actually doing whats needed in the present to get there. Alot of what Jesus taught was living right NOW. Not in the past, not in the future. Faith is stepping out into the unknown of the present accepting that the future is unknown and the past is history. Faith isnt just believing in what makes sense to you, heck, thats not faith at all. Thats nothing. Why cant more Christians understand this? The only flaw I see is you accept the person, not the sin. If their beliefs include sin, then you cant accept that. But you can accept the person because no matter what anyone says, they are two seperate entities. It is scary though also to understand that Jesus never harmed anyone, never did anything wrong, yet, from the beginning of his existance he was trying to be killed. Love is far stronger than anything on Earth and for most people - Love will be far scarier than anything else. and when people become scared of something they dont know about, they will fear it and then hate will not be too far behind.

Wooly Bear was created for a contest that gave us 3 weeks to design a rocket coaster inside a template on the side of a small hill with 2 or more unique inversions. I had 2 weeks, since I was on vacation for one of them. I got the track sent in with 1 minute to spare. I spent the last entire 2 hours converting the terrain to 3ds, creating a tunnel, creating and placing all the footers by hand and then doing all of the supports. Then tunnel testing. Then naming. It was a fiasco. So, there are some minor shaping issues but overall I was very pleased with how it turned out. It pretty much just squeezed into the template and has a traditional course with some untraditional elements. The unique twists are not so much unique, you go upside down - but its the entrance and exits to those inversions that makes them feel a little different - which was all I wanted. The ride focuses on airtime when I could and powerful turns. Enjoy your ride on the Wooly Bear! (Thank the Fiance for that name) Wooly Bear3.nlpack
