  1. How could you even suggest such a thing? That's one of the best flat rides I've ever been on.
  2. Great report! What exactly is the "Crystal Maze" I'm a bit confused..
  3. Thanks for the report, Robb. I'm looking forward to checking this out on the 31st.
  4. ^^ Then just delete the old thread.. right? I opened it not knowing and it nearly killed my computer. Great pictures, looks like you had a good time at the park.
  5. Fantastic report, thanks for sharing! It looks like DLP has better versions of many standby attractions (Phantom Manor, Space Mountain, Big Thunder, etc..) but it seems like the over all park experience is subpar for a Disney park. From many reports I've seen countless examples of technical problems, guest problems and even employee problems. I think I'm starting to see why this resort gets a bad rap sometimes.
  6. This is such a great trip report! I'm loving the jelly captions and photos, keep up the good work.
  7. Out of the three I have been on (Riddler's Revenge, Mantis, Vortex) I would rank them as follows. 1. Riddler's Revenge. A great ride, forceful with a little pop of air in one spot, this ride is what all stand ups should be. 2. Vortex. Nothing special, but it was my first stand up and didn't hurt me. 3. Mantis. Absolutely terrible. Beat my head around, hurt my legs like no other and the crew was bad as well. I'd really like to ride Chang, it gets pretty good reviews.
  8. Thanks! I personally like the entrance, it's the people who horde around the letters and make it difficult to walk that I have a problem with. I know, right? And it's not all that expensive. I was very disappointed to see it closed, ah well. I can see it being a great spot to propose. Not as obvious or generic as doing it in front of the castle. I think I would keel over and die without my Disneyland pass. Thanks guys!
  9. Welcome to the second installment of my Disneyland update thread. I was at the resort on Monday and had the opportunity to not lonely get on many rides several times, but I also go the chance to enjoy the park in the rain, which doesn’t happen often enough in Southern California. So, without further ado, let us begin. Unfortunately, because of the rain the lighting was terrible for picture taking. As such, many of these pictures are not up to my standard quality, so I apologize in advance. Ah! A Sebring! The Office fans may find this amusing. Sadly, not a convertible. This struck me as a little creepy, perhaps I just need to get my mind out of the gutter. It’s raining it’s pouring.. Well, sort of. It rained heavily right before and during the tram ride, but after that only sprinkled the rest of the day. Mainstreet about fifteen minutes after the opening of the park. This area will soon hold the Indiana Jones stunt show. I’m very excited to see it in action soon! Speaking of Indiana Jones, it was the first ride of the day with a ten minute wait! If you look at these inscriptions for long enough you can begin to see real letters “hidden” inside the symbols. I believe you can still print the decoder off of the internet. The Dreams Suite was newly occupied by a family from Washington if I remember correctly. It has been far too long. I was able to make up for it by getting five rides in, four of them back to back. It interests me that Disney left up some of the off island Tom Sawyer theming. Perhaps Tom Sawyers Island will overthrow the pirates? Well, probably not – but check out this cool cave! Big Thunder remains one of the rides that can not seem to get a wait less then twenty minutes – no matter what that silly sign says. Something I haven’t seen in a while, an open Storybook land! No, I didn’t ride it – but it was open, see? The rest of my family apparently saw one of the new monorails that morning, but I wasn’t with them at the time – ah well. Look everyone! Lets wait an hour for “Submerged Bench – The Ride”. Eh... maybe not. Star Wars mural > Buzz Lightyear mural. The upstairs of this building has been closed for a very long time. Does anyone know why? Here is another look at the blocked off escalator. Here is an obligatory castle shot. Hi castle! Just think of all the memorable photographs that will not be able to be taken once these are gone… Thank God they’ll be gone. They were doing some kind of maintenance on the fountain I would presume. For those of you who have read my previous updates, I had just noted that this waterfall was turned back on. And now it’s off… again. Hello Paradies Pier, long time no see! Here is the Toy Story Mania segment of my update so I’ll let the pictures do the talking. These first few are of the wooden.. cabanas? That the overflow queue will be put under if the line gets too long for the regular queue. These next few pictures are of the Midway Mercantile, the retails tore you’ll be dumped into after the ride. Here is the exit to the ride, blocked off of course. See? I told you! This is the exterior to the store. No, it isn’t perfect, but you can still get a shot of the loop if you want. The last shot of Toy Story Mania, set to open June 17th according to the park map I believe. (Someone threw out my map… so that’s strictly from memory.) The Corn Dog Castle was closed for refurbishment. This place has the best corn dogs I have ever had, period. One of my least favorite Disney attractions, Soarin Over California had a fifteen minute stand by wait, quite rare for this ride. However, I was hungry so I didn’t wait. My lunch receipt. I’m still disappointed they took out the touch screens, but the food is good and it isn’t all that expensive, so I wont complain. After lunch I moved back to Disneyland for the rest of the day. I was able to get on California Screamin’ with a ten minute wait, same with Madness. My first stop while in the park? Haunted Mansion of course! After a few rides on that I somehow made my way over to Space Mountain. The picture didn’t turn out, but this says fifteen minutes. I’m not a fan of the ride, so waiting for about fifteen minutes is the most I’ll do. This line ended up being thirty minutes. I decided to check out Innoventions again to see if anything new had opened and I was not disappointed! Here are a few pictures that I do not wish to come up with captions for, yay! It looks like this floor of Innoventions is nearly complete, I’ll be sure to check again next time I visit. The deck offers a nice view of the park. The monorail is very photogenic, so pretty… It’s a Fat World is still being refurbished. A sign on the wall. More signage.. getting bored yet? Me too, lets wrap this up. I discovered this little area in New Orleans Square. It’s nice and quiet and the theming is very immersive. Okay, this is the last picture from this area I swear. At this point we had ridden everything, were tired and ready to go home. So thanks for reading this installment! Until next time… -Jake!
  10. I was under the impression the design of the train was quite different. Especially as far as weight is concerned, which we all know holds some attributes to roughness (Beast, Psyclone). I would expect the ride to be much smoother, but I suppose we'll have to wait and see to be certain.
  11. LOL! That is the funniest thing I have heard all day! Someone should snap a picture of the billboard, priceless!
  12. Great pictures, and report! I'm looking forward to hearing some more information about The Dark Knight's theming.
  13. Knott's Berry Farm sells old pieces of Ghostrider wood in blocks. It comes with a "Collectible coin" and is about ten bucks. Yes.. I bought a piece.
  14. ^ I agree, I'm almost positive that video was staged. He didn't seem nearly frightened enough. Plus, there was absolutely no profanity - not to say that everyone uses it. But when you're sneaking through a park and you think security is on your tail you don't think "Oh Jeepers I hope we don't get caught!". Also, it's a shoot em up dark ride, correct? I didn't think this ride was so noteworthy that you would need to break into a park just to get a first look at it... I could be wrong of course.
  15. I got the first ride on Sierra Sidewinder for free! And it's a Mack.. meaning it's obviously superior . Oh well, I most likely wont be there opening day anyway, so I don't know why I'm complaining.
  16. When I was at Universal Studios for Horror Nights, a guy broke up with his girlfriend at dinner (Whatever the restaurant is near the Fear Factor stage) she yelled and threw some kind of food at him. Pretty exciting stuff.
  17. Are you kidding? Cedar Point thrives on unreliable attractions!
  18. From what I understand there is a set speed that the train needs to be going over those hills. And if the speed if faster then what it is supposed to be the trims will slow it down. So the trims are always on, it just depends on the weight of the train as that is what varies the speed.
  19. ^ Do you really think so? If Mavericks OTSR's are any indication, Intamin's OTSR's really are quite dreadful. Give me some B&M OTSR's any day .
  20. The California Adventure Passholder Preview doesn't start till early June. I believe we're signed up to go on the seventh of June.. give or take a day.
  21. The Simpsons is opening to the public on May 17th, don't expect it to be open any earlier then that. But who knows, miracles happen.
  22. I wasn't calling Mission: Space a plussed ride, I was talking about Toy Story Mania. I'm aware of that, that's my point. Mission Space grew on you, but it wasn't a plussed attraction, while as of right now you believe Toy Story Mania is. Well, you have done the "Superior" tower, while most Disneyland guests have not. Therefore you'll have a different outlook then most of the other guests. Perhaps part of the problem is all of our hopes and expectations for this ride were FAR too high to begin with. Disney never said this was the "Men in Black killer". So why should we expect such a thing? You know, it all comes down to opinion. This ride will do what it needs to do, bring more people to DCA, and more importantly keep them in there. Whether or not this is an E Ticket, better then Men in Black, or offers more then a "Shoot at big screens" experience wont matter to the general public. And that's the market they're shooting for, as we all know.
  23. ^ Except I wouldn't call mission space a plussed... you know.. on the other hand.. Whether or not this will be an E Ticket attraction is irrelevant. It's a much needed add to this park. California Adventure desperately needs more rides. More rides that the general public "Must do" while at the park. Because as of right now, it's a "Hit the four and out the door".
  24. I got an email from Hershey today explaining the riding arrangements/meet up spot for Fahrenheit. Basically the Nantimi 11 will have ERT on the coaster from 9:45 to 10am. Sounds like a pretty sweet deal! It really is a shame I wont be able to go .
  25. And lets hope that those at the front of the line wont leave when they hear about said technical problems only to find out ten minutes later the ride opened! Jake "Got the first ride because Brent left" Sundstrom
