Words of encouragement for a chicken...
Hercules replied to RIP Psyclone's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I hope you have a good time. I don't really get why it is so hard for people to understand that some people just aren't in it for the credits. I passed up 7 credits this weekend while at Seaside on the Jersey shore. I rode one coaster there. Sometimes I just enjoy walking around and taking in the atmosphere (and not paying $4.50 a ride). I think I might actually go back Thursday for the wristband night though. But anyway, good for you Allison, have a great time - maybe I'll meet up with you guys at a few parks on the way. -

Yeah, it sure is. We drove by Blue Diamond Park on the way down Friday night and intended to stop off on our way home on Sunday, but I missed the exit since Garmin never showed it as a park. Upon driving by we saw no signs of life at all, and after arriving home we checked the website to find our thoughts to be true, the park isn't opening this year. Once again Delaware is roller coaster-less. I noticed this too. I was looking to see if Blue Diamond was on the way to Chincoteague, VA, since we are heading down there this upcoming weekend, and it definitely is. It's just that the park isn't open. Sucks. Great report. -
Dorney Park or Land of Make Believe?
Hercules replied to Flya Pelican's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
This is absolutely no contest. Dorney Park is the way to go. The water park is much better than Land of Make Believe, and there are far more things to do there for everyone. Land of Make Believe is fun if you are..... in elementary school. They have made improvements there, but it is no where near the scale of Dorney. There are lines at Dorney on the weekends. Don't think that there aren't. But you can definitely weave through the park and do a lot of things multiple times, and everyone would be very happy. I don't really think that Dorney is a two day park by any means, so I would suggest finding something else in the Lehigh Valley to do. Personal Message me if you want some ideas as I know the area very well. -
I heard it. I was on the phone with someone in Riverside trying to lock down a $30,000 deal, and then I heard the words "Oh S***" and then click. I guess I'll try to give a call back to see if everything is alright.

Tiger Stadium in Detroit finally comes down
Hercules replied to verticalzero's topic in Random, Random, Random
They are tearing it down and turning the entire surrounding area into a park. This article talks all about the travesty of tearing down Yankee Stadium, this article discusses how taxpayers are financing the demolition, and this page from the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation discusses the entire project. Thanks for that Scott. I guess that is what I get for not paying attention. -

I really liked this park. And I don't really think Yankee Stadium is going to be torn down. I haven't seen anything about that. I thought they were going to turn it into a kind of museum. -
I like Obama.

Agreed. I'm actually looking forward to riding Voyage in about 5 years. I'm waiting for it to get to the perfect combination of pain and agressive that I like so much. The rougher the better.
