^ That is true, but it is not Knoebel's style. Either they keep things inhouse, or Dick Knoebel goes out and personally hand pics rides. They buy different rides, and restore classics. They are about quality (not saying Gravity Group isn't quality) but I think they like to keep things to themselves. That is their choice, and their choice is to not go with big company designers. -
Did the Italian Job speakers start playing games like the second day of operation? My guess: Problems start on day 3.

That is true. The first time I was there it was like I was going through the park blind. I didn't know where the heck I was going. Then, once you start to understand it, it is easy to get from one place to another just by weaving in and out of rides. -

I am certainly not in love with Knoebel's but it is truly about the entire experience. That is something that I really took in at PPP in 2006. I hadn't actually taken the time to step back and see the place for what it is. It is a mix of Pennsylvania mountain atmosphere, great rides, hilarious ride operations that make you wonder why nobody gets killed at times, amazing food, FREE parking and FREE admission and very good prices.... and those crazy mountain boys running around with their grease stained and torn wife-beaters and AC/DC shirts. Overall, I really like the place to go for a good Flyers snapfest (as long as there is a cool op), those glorious Lusse Auto Skooters, the Looper, and marathoning Phoenix. When the place is packed, it is a b**ch. I hate it when it is busy on hot summer days. The place should be experienced on a non-busy POP day early in the season, or on a nice, cool fall day. And a full day should be devoted to it, just because there is so much to take in. I can see how a lot of people would think that it is just a half day kind of park just because of its appearance, and the fact that it is a small family owned park, but believe me, it is a full day park. -

Accident on Wildcat at Cedar Point
Hercules replied to Airtime&Gravity's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I wonder if this would cause the ride to be closed for an extended period, even though that is a very freak thing to happen. Or, if people will be calling for it to be removed, just because. Good thing nobody was seriously injured. -

Oh yeah that is right! It was so long ago that I completely forgot about it. Sorry. I've had a lot of things going on. And to get into the discussion - personally, I'm not a fan of the park in general. It just doesn't have the feel that I really like. It is kind of too hick for me. However, the rides there are incredible, and the value that you get for the amount of fun is unmatched. -

Great report! I am a little saddened that I didn't receive PM invite. I could have showed you how to snap those Flyers better than Larry! Though. he is a force on the Skooters! -

Thanks for the info, so how come it's allowed at some parks, but not others? The park didn't get proper approval for zoning and other things from the town before they started to build, and the plan had to be scratched. It is a weird situation. There might have been more to it than just that. -
2008 NBA Playoffs: What to look out for in the west
Hercules replied to Bolliger&Mabillard's topic in Random, Random, Random
I would rather see Gordon go. I think he is way too inconsistent. Hinrich just had a bad year, but I think he can rebound and be a good leader. As for the rest of the team, I just don't know what to think. At any rate, I miss Brand, not to mention, Skiles. -

Hercules replied to Bolliger&Mabillard's topic in Random, Random, Random
There really isn't that hard of a choice this year. It is between a forward that was awesome, and a guard that was definitely very good. It just depends on what they want to do with Hinrich, Gordon and Deng. Plus, they already have a platoon of guards that they need to get rid of anyway. By the way, Celtics are on their way to another Game 7 win, eh? -

I don't think you understand the pricing of the Gold Flash Pass. The initial cost of the Gold Flash Pass for one person is $71, on top of the $60 that you pay for admission. You buy the Flash Pass after you get in to the park. Now, if you have 5 people on a Flash Pass, the prices inceases to $211, so a little over $50 a person. So, for each person, admission and Gold Flash Pass would be over $110 a person.

There is a guy on here named Skip, and I talked to him at West Coast Bash about TTD vs. KK. (For those of you who went on the Midwest trip, you know who I'm talking about.) In addition to everything else that has been mentioned, he said that one major thing is missing from KK: spectators. TTD has a little grandstand set up so you can watch it launch from a good perspective, allowing for good photo opportunities as well. You can also walk along the entire length of TTD. Those things are not true with KK. There is no grandstand, and you can't walk along side it. It's much harder to get good photos of KK. Do you agree? Yeah, what RIP said. When you're on Dragster, it's like you're the center of attention. Everyone's lined up along the ride, and usually a good crowd right next to the launch area. People are just standing there amazed at the ride, and it's an awesome interaction with the guests. TTD has the sounds, the crowds, the looks, and an incredible ride. Also, the cars are really cool; and the seats are great. I guess you could say they are aerodynamic? Anyways, you have a lot of freedom with only a lap bar holding you in. It just adds to the all around awesomeness that this ride has. My #2 favorite coaster. -JZ The thing with that is, Kingda Ka did have a spectator area (granted, it wasn't "grandstands") but it had to be removed when the accident occured. There was a very long queue line leading up to the station (could have held about a 7-8 hour line) but it had to be altered, and the spectator area had to be taken out because it was too close to the track and Six Flags and Jackson Township didn't want to take any chances of there being another accident. -

Great report. I really like the location of the ride. It is nice and, as you say, nestled in the park very nicely. It really doesn't appear to be an eye sore like the one at Great Adventure. -

^^ Ahhhh, just because he hit a big shot for the Lakers..... I think you summed it up Wes. ROLE player. He is and never was a great player. He was a pretty good role player, but no where near an overall great player. Now, will he be a hall of famer? Probably, just because of the playoff games, championships, and big shots.
