  1. I know nothing about SFMW (other than they have Roar and Medusa). Is there any room/chance for this park to become a big destination park in Northern California?
  2. It just dawned on me in reading that article, that, dag, DL is New York's only major theme park?
  3. Alyssa--have you ridden SD2K? I remember being so excited about this ride 6 years ago (even though it was in Japan). I'd been out of the coaster loop for a while until this summer and didn't even know it wasn't operating until several months ago. How is the ride and how does it compare to other hyper coasters?
  4. 1) Busch Gardens Europe 2) Magic Kingdom (although this might be a stretch since I haven't been there since 1984 and don't remember too much) 3) Six Flags Over Georgia 4) Paramount Kings Dominion 5) Universal Studios Florida (no Islands of Adventure) 6) Six Flags America 7) Epcot Center I'm not sure if I can make 3 more parks this year, but I'll definitely try. Hersheypark may be doable, as well as a trip to Orlando. Possibly Six Flags Great Adventure.
  5. I'd like to hear about KD. I haven't been in 6 years, but I'm going tomorrow. Not expecting too much, what with the heat and the crowds and the mediocre collection of coasters.
  6. Will lines be pretty bad on a Friday? I was originally planning to go next Monday (to avoid lines) but I'm going with my sister and she's leaving town that day.
  7. Yikes! If lines are that bad on an overcast Sunday, I'm not sure how much I'll be enjoying my trip on a Saturday (August 5th). Is Italian Job worth waiting in line for?
  8. I think I might. But not until I ride Goliath first.
  9. I've actually thought about writing a will that states that if I die on a roller coaster, I forbid my family members to sue anyone. Unless it was on a Vekoma SLC. Even then, it would be my fault for choosing to ride it.
  10. Well, my first trip to SFoG will be on Friday. Hope it's excellent.
  11. You must not know Quagmire. He'd never object to under 18-year olds. And Griffon is fine by me.
  12. I'll miss you by about a week. My first trip there will be Monday, July 31st.
  13. Geh. 1) BGW 2) Magic Kingdom (last time I went was 1984) 3) PKD 4) Universal Studios Florida (haven't been since 1996) 5) SFA Take that list with a grain of salt as those are the only parks I've been to. I did go to Epcot (in 1984) and remember asking my parents "why" the whole time we were there.
  14. Yeah--I knew about the fire. I'm still counting it as my oldest until I ride something older than Scooby Doo.
  15. So you're saying any really old coaster that's been rebuilt or modified shouldn't count as an old roller coaster anymore? I thought the layout for Wild One was pretty much the same except for the helix that was added at the end. I don't think it had a Steel Phantom-type reprofiling.
  16. Oldest steel: Space Mountain-1975 Oldest looping: King Kobra (PKD)-1977 Oldest full-circuit looping: Loch Ness Monster-1978
  17. Ha--one of the words that pops up is "flight". I was thinking of a dive flying coaster as well.
  18. Wild One may be my favorite woodie. Granted, I've only been on 6. This needs to be rectified as I love what I've ridden (for the most part).
  19. Wow. I really never realized all the negative feelings towards Kings Island. I've only been to KD and for some reason I was always jealous of KI. The main reason I want to go to KI is to ride the Beast. I've had a love affair with that ride since I first heard about it when I was about 5 or 6. My uncle lived in Cincinnati and I visited him twice in the 80's and I was always upset that I never went to the park, remembering he'd always say to me,"You need to come visit us and we can go to Kings Island to ride the Beast." Those words chilled, yet excited me.
  20. Wild One at SFA. It opened in 1917 at Paragon Park as Giant Coaster. Moved to SFA and reopened as Wild One in 1986. Next oldest for me is the Scooby Doo at Kings Dominion.
  21. I kind of like what someone posted earlier in this thread. "Harrier" It just doesn't sound like a Busch Gardens coaster name though.
  22. Mind Eraser at SFA for me, although Anaconda wasn't so great the last time I rode it at KD. I'm just wondering, how much do you think rider size fits into the equation? I'm fairly large and will be going to SFoG in a couple of weeks. I'm wondering how rough GASM and the Cyclone would be if I were 50 pounds lighter.
  23. Now we're talking about possibly flying out to SoCal for SFMM. I'd be afraid all the rides would be closed.
