I remember in the late 90's/early 2000's this ride was getting all sorts of hype from The Discovery Channel shows. I don't hear too much about it these days from enthusiasts. Has it lost anything in the last few years? Was it overhyped? It always looked like a great ride to me.

Ha--well, I've always wanted to ride it. If it's awful I can always go to Nathan's and get some comfort food. I will say that I hated the Georgia Cyclone so if it's anything like that... I did a rcdb search and saw Playland Park's in Rye. Anything else nearby I should try to catch? Edit to add: The main reason I didn't like the GA Cyclone was because of the seat dividers. I'm slightly largesse and was one cheeking it throughout the duration of the ride.

No car...for now. (I actually just bought a car a week and a half ago, but I can only drive it to work--don't drink and drive, kids!) I was thinking about doing a SF GAdv trip this fall. Depending on modes of available transportation, we might do that on Sunday if it's kosher to all parties (the friend I'm going up there with doesn't like roller coasters, but his sister does). I've never ridden the Cyclone so I definitely want to hit that up.

Besides the obvious (Cyclone/Astroland), are there any other credits I should look at?

Locally (RVA) I like Jo Jo's and Mary Angela's. Nationally, I like, yes, Pizza Hut (although a friend of mine says they've lost something over the past 10-15 years or so). I liked Hungry Howie's when I went to college down in Florida. The one up where I live opened and closed within the span of like 3 years.

No particular order... 1. Metal Gear Solid 2. Half-Life 3. Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past 4. Super Mario Bros. (original NES version) 5. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City 6. Final Fantasy III (VI) 7. Final Fantasy Tactics (PSX) 8. Contra III 9. Castlevania: Symphony of the Night 10. Half-Life 2 This is never a fair list but it's pretty accurate for me (+ or - a few games) Also, I grew up with an Atari 2600 and playing friends' Coleco, C64, and Atari 5200.

I'm a big Stephen King fan and was obssessed with the Dark Tower from about 1993 until the last one came out two years ago. I gotta say, something got lost between books 4 and 5. I wanted to like 5-7 but I was fooling myself. Loved IT, The Stand, The Waste Lands (my favorite of the DT books and when I first thought something incredible was going to be written with this series), Apt Pupil (from the same collection as Shawshank), Night Shift, Skeleton Crew, Dark Half, Hearts in Atlantis, and Firestarter. Dreamcatcher and Tommyknockers blow big chunks. Most of the rest of his books are decent, with some still in the mediocre range. I've read all of his novels except for Carrie, Cell, and The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon.

This pours salt on the wound of Drachen Fire. If only BM had constructed it... For now, I'll say SFoG but I'm going to try to visit BGA and IoA this fall. Can't wait. Does Cedar Point automatically win for best collection of Intamins?

I thought I read an article posted in some other forum that Hard Rock Park would be getting a Hyper/Junior Hyper called Stairway to Heaven. One of the first times that Jimmy Page licensed the use of that song for something. I'd ride it.
