  1. While I'm no fan of American Idol myself, let's face it, the public are going to eat this attraction up and it will be a huge success. It's cheap, interactive, and based on one of TV's most popular shows... how is it a bad idea?
  2. I was at DCA a few times this week and saw that they have been doing more and more vehicle testing on Toy Story Mania and there's a good chance you can catch a view of the cars coming out of the show building and into the unload area if you look across from the waterfront by Golden Dreams. I'm pretty sure Golden Dreams will be closing in the fall, as well as the restrooms in the San Francisco area but who knows how long construction will take as they've got to put up a whole new show building. I'm looking forward to the new Mermaid dark ride, definately original and it was my first movie I saw in theaters as a child.
  3. These were really fun to look at, thanks for sharing!
  4. Meh, I'm a pats fan anyways, and we get our share of celebrity sightings in the park as it is.
  5. Old DL photos are always fun, thanks for sharing! I have a dumb question, I'm not sure if anyone would know this... When The Disneyland Hotel themed their swimming pool to Peter Pan, did they just move the old Fantasyland skull rock (as seen in one of these photos) poolside or is that a completely new skull rock they made for the pool?
  6. I used to work in New Bedford, MA back when I lived in RI and I drove by the ruins of Lincoln Park every day, very sad to see every time.
  7. Woah.. Giant Drop is one of the few rides I would have a hard time getting on, I'm deathly afraid of heights but I"ve never been able to resist the Intamin drop towers.
  8. Great to see the coaster has gone vertical! I hope to ride it when I visit back east this spring.
  9. I'm not too surprised given the popularity of the TV show. 10 bucks says DCA adds one to the old Millionaire building once the Hollywood makeover is complete.
  10. Panda looks nice, Pony looks like dirt. Thanks for the update.
  11. Wow, awesome find! For those of you interested in DCA concept art, there's several other concept art pieces I have never seen online inside the Paradise Pier hotel along the first floor between the back entrance and the lobby.
  12. Teal blue is my favorite color but they're the same as Hydra's supports and it's the same color scheme from wicked twister. I thought they'd go with a more darker or warmer color scheme with a name like Voodoo but it will still look pretty cool.
  13. I was able to see Monorail Red in the shop today before work, it's even more impressive in person. Today they were connecting some of the trains many electrical components. The interiors aren't entirely complete. Monorail Red is scheduled to start running with passengers in February. Monorail Blue will arrive in late February and run in the spring, Monorail Orange will arrive in the spring and begin running in the summer. There will no longer a purple monorail on the circuit, it will now be orange.
  14. I suppose you could always slap down a Raging Spirits clone and put a couple of movie vehicles in the queue. Hey it worked for Paris' Indy.
  15. Looking good so far! Can't wait to see Spongebob go up.
  16. So Flashback's finally coming down. Screamscape reports the ride is being sent to coaster heaven, this is not 100% accurate as the ride is in fact going to coaster hell.
  17. I have to agree with the both of you. It 's going to be so similar to Nitro to me so I'm not terribly excited, the locals will eat it up and it will be a huge success. I'm just happy they finally got the big coaster they so badly needed.
  18. I think Vekoma has many more coasters that are painful overall, but the few Arrow coasters that do hurt are much worse in that department.
  19. That would be Beaverland Mine Train http://rcdb.com/ig634.htm?picture=1
  20. As a conductor at Disneylad, I'm often in the roundhouse where the monorails and trains are stored. Maybe tomorrow I can ask the monorail crew if I can go upstairs for a peek. They look even better than I was hoping they would.
  21. Ewww, don't ever use Boomerang and Cedar Point in the same sentance again. I'm pretty sure this is all just a new kid's area, we just got Maverick, I doubt a new coaster will arrive until at least 09.
  22. ^ But Disneyland already has an Indiana Jones e ticket and with all the new DCA rides on the way and projects on the back burner for DL (Star Tours 2, new Peoplemover, etc.) it's nothing to get your hopes up about, unfortunately.
  23. Woah that is gnarly! Can't wait to try one out!
  24. While I enjoyed the first movie, have yet to see the sequel, I'm willing to bet an attraction based off National Treasure is extremely unlikely. Indiana Jones is somewhat similar to National Treasure and I don't believe WDI has ever taken a suggestion from an actor for the design of a new attraction. Good luck, Mr. Cage I would love to see a National Treasure ride, I just don't think it's too likely it'll happen.
  25. I'm going to have to look out for that next time I watch the show, thanks for the entertaining heads up!
