  1. Does anyone have any pictures of this Pharoah's Fury dark ride? Between this and Atlantis I really have to see Lotte World someday.
  2. Natatomic, we have the same "lamp system" at Indy here in California. When all guests are sitting down, the load CM holds down his advance button triggering a lamp to go brighter, the other CM at the advance console sees it and pushes his advance button which sends the vehicle to the seatbelt check. At seatbelt check, where we actually dispatch the EMVs into the ride zones, there's a cobra head for each side of the station, when the snake's eyes light up, that means our side is clear for dispatch. If we get red snake eyes on our side of the station and the other side isn't ready to send their EMV for whatever reason, we can "steal" the dispatch and send two in a row. For those of you wondering what the fastest ride at DL is, it's not Splash, it's Space Mountain which hits about 38 mph. The monorails ARE capable of going faster but never do so.
  3. I hope they don't remove The Ultimate, I haven't gotten to try it yet and it definately seems unique.
  4. I also must vote for Astroland, you just walk away with a stink about you. I haven't really been to any other small, rotting parks besides this one. I mean, I love the Cyclone and all but the rest of the park is just dirty with horrible customer service.
  5. Looks like the park is coming along nicely with its new theme, I'm really liking the bright colors for the new rides.
  6. Yeah, I voted Indy against Dinosaur before I realized how pointless my poll was... It came to mind when several CMs I work with said they liked Dinosaur better because it has a ton of animatronics. Got me thinking a lot more people really liked Dinosaur more than I thought, which is clearly not the case among theme park fanatics. Does anyone have a photo of the anaconda? Does anyone here know the name of our cobra?
  7. Robb, I haven't been able to make it out to Japan just yet, so the only two I've done were Dinosaur and Anaheim Indy. I agree with most people when I say Indy is better by Dinosaur by miles. Only after watching the video of Crystal Skull did I know they were so different from eachother. So far it looks like the rides have the following features which set them apart... DLR has a moving door scene, TDS doesn't TDS has the crystal skull in place of the idol of Mara DLR uses actual fire effects, TDS version is themed more to water TDS has a tornado effect where DLR has the Mara laser effect TDS has an anaconda where DLR has a cobra DLR has the rat room, TDS has the smoke ring and more of a technical point but still different, DLR uses hydraulics to put EMVs into motion where TDS transports have magnetic actuators. And just from watching the video I can see that DisneySea's version has alot more detail in both the queue and actual ride itself. I noticed the statues in the dart room are really there rather than just being painted on. Really makes me want to check DisneySea out even more, I'm hoping to make it there by 2010. Does anyone have any good photos from inside the ride? Specifically of the anaconda in the snake temple scene? I was always thought it was weird that Forbidden Eye has such a HUGE oversized cobra, an anaconda makes more sense.
  8. That sure is an interesting looking turn coming off the launch. Thanks for the photos socal, please keep us posted!
  9. That's cool how the loop will be painted a different shade of orange, this coaster will stand out, that's for sure.
  10. ^ From the above article... "A Universal Studios-type attraction using video and audio" and... "technology never before conceived" I'm going to just take a guess here. The article says it will show the history of how the falls were made, and that it would be an audio and video experience. How cool would it be if it were some kind of motion based simulator, where at the end of the film portion the screen was removed and the passengers tilted forward toward the actual falls, yikes... Wishful thinking...
  11. Gracias for that, I edited my post. I figured many TPR members made the trips to Japan and some have actually done all 3. I'm curious to see if anyone prefers Dinosaur.
  12. As of yesterday I completed my training for Indiana Jones Adventure. This is a big deal for me as Indy has always been my absolute favorite attraction and working it is even more fun than riding. While walking the track, my trainer was explaining to me how many effects have been changed or removed from the attraction, such as... the falling ice scene that looked like a rockslide, the spiderweb being changed to the rat room, etc... I was also told the intensity of the hydraulics has been toned down, is this true? For those of you who rode Indy in it's debut year, what was it like? Have they made the ride better or has it seen better days? A few years ago I made it out to Florida to try out Dinosaur (then Countdown to Extinction) and while I found it great fun, I preferred Indy by miles, however the ride does have some pretty amazing special effects! Also, if you have been on Indiana Jones Adventure in Tokyo, I'd like to hear your thoughts on it. Lastly, I've been looking everywhere for some concept art of all 3 of these attractions. If anyone has some hi-res concept art on their hard drive or could direct to me to it that would be a huge help. So for those of you have been on ALL THREE RIDES which one is your favorite? Mara offers you 3 choices, earthly riches, visions of the future, and eternal youth.
  13. Well, this ought to be fun for a year or so until the gimmick wears off. I swear within a few years we'll be seeing things like Coca Cola: The Ride springing up at Six Flags parks everywhere.
  14. I think it's a really cool idea. B&M could sell more dive machines to parks with limited space and budgets.
  15. I think the AK map looks pretty cool, I <3 and miss Everest.
  16. Yay for a Eurofighter slightly closer to me than Dollywood! We'll get one on the west coast sooner or later... I hope. (C'mon Knott's... hit us with some 95 degree droppage)
  17. I'm looking forward to watching this park develop, especially that monster signature coaster I've been hearing so much about. Looks like they want the park to attract guests from around the world.
  18. Also, if anyone had some good photos of Indy, specifically the troop transports I'd really appreciate it, thanks!
  19. I've never noticed anything major that pops up when I think if the ride needs touchups, and I'm assuming most other people feel that way. All the little details will eventually be fixed when the ride goes down for scheduled rehabs. I <3 Space Mtn...
  20. I'm a big fan of concept art released to present the idea of what attraction is in development. There's several specific images I'm having a hard time finding online, as I have only seen them in books. I'd like to print these and maybe several others on canvas to decorate a room. Does anyone have or know where I can find hi-res concept art for the following Disney attractions? -Indiana Jones Adventure (Disneyand, CA) (the scene that's in my avatar) by Bryan Jowers by Chuck Ballew Journey To The Center Of The Earth artwork by Dan Goozee (1994) by Wes Cook (1997) -Space Mountain (Disneyland Paris) by Tim Delaney (1993) Also, if you have any other interesting ride concept art on your PCs I'd love to see it! Thanks in advance.
  21. Sideways airtime? That's going to be great, hopefully the first installation is a success so S&S can sell a ton of these.
  22. I tried the one in Orlando and it was the scariest thrill ride I've ever been on! This will also be a nice tall attention-getter from the highway outside the park.
  23. When are we going to get one of these on the west coast? I miss my El Toro...
  24. ^ Yeah but Giant Drop only has one row of seats, and most Intamin drops have 4 sides. The lines must get reaaaal long in the busy season, right?
  25. I hear a lot of guests talking about how it's weird DCA is adding another shooting dark ride based on toy story when Buzz is right next door. Besides the fact that Toy Story Mania will have the 3D effects, Astro Blasters ony used the Buzz Lightyear, Emperor Zurg, and Little Green men characters. Toy Story Mania has carnival games hosted by the remaining popular characters from the movies like Woody and Hamm so there's a lot of Toy Story potential still untouched to use in the new ride. Of course, Toy Story 3, which was in production was hugely responsible for the creation of this ride. Even though the movie has been cancelled, I still see the ride as being a huge hit.
