For me, the Toy Story Land isn't really a dissapoinment at all, just something aimed at younger kids that I'm sure will be extremely popular. I'm also willing to bet that a Toy Story Mania attraction shows up here eventually. Also, my guess for that wooden platform by the train tracks is that it is simply theming, may some kind of interactive display of some kind. You see lots of theming like this on The Disneyland Railroad (cargo loading platforms, cranes, etc.) between New Orleans Square and Toontown stations.

I'm loving the new e-tickets! Especially the Everest/Thunder concept. It's also good to see another application of the trackless GPS dark ride system, I'm surprised they went with that given the high capacity of the omnimover. I'm hoping the trackless technology will grace one of our Disney parks in the near future. I'm even more surpised to see they didn't go for the Splash Mountain/Pirates attraction but I'm sure it's day will come, along with an Indy ride. Can't wait to see the new mountain rise! Yeehaw!

I just wanted to point out that the construction going on in the Timon parking lot is not the start of Cars Land, it's most likely the support buildings for Imagineering to have on-site ofices to work on these massive projects. I wouldn't expect to see actual construction on the attraction until next year.

I agree, Dinosaur is very scary (and very dark) and almost as good as Indy. The ride used to be WAY more intense when it opened as Countdown to Extinction. Trust me, the enhanced motion vehicle is capable of some serious action sequences. Luckily I was able to ride in it's debut year before it was neutered when the movie came out so kids could ride it. Yet another victim of tamed down for the kiddies... if "ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter" had a grave I would most certainly visit it.

Weirdest Things The 'GP' Have Said
ECZenith replied to maliboomer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
People always lie to try to get other members of their party to ride that are afraid. I've heard every one in the book. "It only goes... (half coaster's actual speed)" is fairly common. -

I'd be terrified to be stuck on that skeleton of a lift it has... I know it's safe but I imagine a gust of wind would make those of who are afraid of heights a little uneasy. Kudos to HW for building such a magnificent prototype, I thought this concept would take much more tinkering with before becoming as reliable as it is now.

When are we going to get a megalite in the US. They look better than most of th ebigger Intamins. Grrrr... -
I'm glad you liked Thunder Mountain but you didn't ride Indiana Jones?? West side of the park (Adventureland, Frontierland, New Orleans etc...) is my favorite part of the resort too and carries the most history. It was only by chance that I ended up working in this area. Ohh, and the sun on Screamin' is done being painted, it looks a little light-colored and unfinished but its because they shine colored lights on it at night. Great first TR by the way!

^ Cool, what do you do there? For the person who asked me about applying at Disneyland... I would suggest applying at Team Disney Anaheim in person rather than fill out an online application. Many people get interviews right away! I work 40 hours a week at three different attractions and sometimes, but rarely I work fireworks and parades. I have a few more pictures of BTMRR to show from my first walk around the mountain, please keep in mind: these photos ARE NOT taken from backstage therefore are perfectly ok to share. Any rider could technically get these views however picture taking while on a roller coaster is never a good idea, IMO. Enjoy some photos of my favorite ride at Disneyland. Yeehaw! Hop out of the main peak Rainbow Ridge, one of the only surviving elements from Mine Ride Through Nature's Wonderland. My favorite part of the ride, the hippity hop! Yes that's what it's really called... View from the top of the second lift Yeehaw! The wildest ride in the wilderness! -
It had been a while since my girlfriend Amanda and I had visited Disneyland so we decided to plan on going a couple times this past week before training for my next attraction would start and I would be too busy to go. Mandi and I actually met at the park so its always fun to go back to where it all started... I still enjoy coming to Disneyland as a guest even though I work 5 days a week, for me it will never lose it's magic... Anyways, I decided to sign in my girlfriend's cousins as they hadn't been in years. These pictures are from over a few days and they are in no particular order. (She's a passholder so we go for a few hours a day when we visit) Some notes and news... New (well.... expanded old) Mexican Restaurant is open at DCA Electric parade is featuring a "new" Pinnochio float in place of Snow White Walls are stretching up past Golden Dreams theater for Little Mermaid past Dinosaur Jack's, Souvenir 66 and Corn Dog Castle. This is going to be one big show building folks... with a new gift shop and hopefully a new eatery. Lots of new trees were put in around the cosmic waves fountain in Tomorrowland but the walls are still up! Fantasmic is still dragonless for now... "Magical" firewors are VERY well done, I still prefer the 50th show but this new show is more of an emotional presentation and there are lots of new shells! Yeehaw!!!! Thanks for checking out the pictures, see you at Disneyland! Told ya... I start working here tomorrow! (6/19) Still need that bumper sticker... [My other car is an EMV] I have to go visit my Indy crew, this is Bob, one of the nicest CMs you'll ever meet Sometimes I visit the boss, even on my days off! Can't go to DCA without taking the fall... Toy Story Midway Mania The line for TSMM was about 25 minutes so we jumped in, nobody has beaten me yet!

Kings Dominion (KD) Discussion Thread
ECZenith replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Can't wait to see more details on this coaster! You've got to hand it to the recent improvements KD has been installing in recent years. They just keep adding more and more coasters! Might have to book a flight back east next year. -
I won't even go see Fantasmic! until the Meleficent dragon is up and running reliably, that's the improvement everyone's been waiting to see. I was told mid-July they might have it in the show again. As for Thunder, I absolutely love that ride and requested to work at it as soon as possible. Disney's coasters are great about theming, not so much the forces. I mean, they're aimed at families not just teens and thrillseekers and I'd say Thunder and Space have a perfect balance of both. That dip through the tunnel halfway through BTMRR is one intense moment! Matterhorn is just INSANE on certain days, it just seems to go faster and faster everytime I ride it, Tomorrowland side, that is... Give Thunder another try, and appreciate its themey awesomeness.

TPR Members Working At Parks
ECZenith replied to BrownStreak's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I work Adventureland/Froniterland/Main Street Attractions at Disneyland. I started working The Disneyland Railroad in September of 2007 and then Indiana Jones Adventure in March of 2008. Starting literally tomorrow I begin training for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and I should officially have ride knowledge there by next Sunday. I plan on opening up Radiator Springs Racers if I'm still in attraction ops in 2012, I'm currently trying to get an apprenticeship through the ride maintenance program. Me in my Indy costume Promo photo of what many consider the ultimate dark ride. -

Everytime I try to go here it seems like the park is closed for one reason or another. I guess I should try to go soon as it looks like everything's running. -

Park attendance is typically handled as sensitive information. At least for my company, sharing these figures with guests would be crossing the line. It would be like a Target clerk telling a shopper how much money they brought in that day, it just isn't cool. I would also think from a business standpoint that it would deter potential customers from entering the property if the crowd conditions or wait times were posted outside the gates.

Disney sued over toxic dumping
ECZenith replied to Mechanic's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ And why would you think that? I'm not saying it isn't possible but Disney deals with B.S. suits on a daily basis. At the very least it certainly isn't a common occurance. -
What is the coolest coaster name?

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, and not just because I work there, I just think it's a cool name. -

What is with UK parks and they're crazy stunts? Didn't Nemesis (or Nemesis Inferno) cycle a train full of naked college kids a few years back? They've got some serious cohones!
