  1. Dmax, I definitely still like them too. Might have to do with the fact that Mind Eraser at SFNE was my first ever "big coaster".
  2. I was just at DCA today to take a look at construction (sorry, no photos) From Screamin', I could see that yet another hill is being installed behind the one that's already up. According to Imagineers at the expo last year, this section begins the ride's finale. The cars will race side-by-side over these "bunny hops" complete a heavily banked left turn, and then drop into an underground "hot springs" area before slowing down and returning to the station, very much like Tokyo's Journey attraction. I have to wonder if they will build the entire right side track first and then the left side as not one piece of track has been put in on the left track. The cars will load in one straight line just like Test Track and then split off either left or right into the first of several dark ride show scenes. The dark ride segment will be much shorter than what Test Track has, as RSR will focus more on speed and thrills. Some other things I noticed were... Golden Zephyr was completely covered by huge blue tarps. It looks like it is receiving either some paint of maintenance work. Silly Symphony Swings queue and load building are both coming along nicely and should open on time for April. They are really going all out touching up the surrounding area to the World of Color viewing area, which itself looks like only minor work is needed to complete. That's all for now, will bring the camera next time.
  3. ^ Completely agree with you guys. I remember seeing the video years ago and being pissed that they tried to pull it off as real. They kept showing the same elements of the ride over and over again. Must have been lame to see live...
  4. ^^ I like the sound of that as I really liked Monsters Inc. Since a sequel is planned, and DCA loooooves Pixar, I wouldn't be surprised if they received a new Monsters attraction or even its own "sub-land". I don't know any other way they could get away with having that bright facade of the existing dark ride blending in with the 1930's Hollywoodland overlay they plan on putting in.
  5. I'm just glad to see it not in pieces anymore... True the park already has an inverted coaster, but park guests will definitely show it a lot of love once it's running. IMO, Batclones are different enough from an SLC where your average visitor will not find them similar.
  6. I love your report, and your photos. I completely forgot that East Coast Thunder Mountain has an indoor station, and therefore, I am now jealous.
  7. What the hell is up with British theme park promos?? This is probably the strangest one yet. Being a fan of the Saw series, (especially #6, and the maze here at USH) I'm glad to see a permanent installation. From what I can see in the photos, the props look very authentic. Well done Thorpe!
  8. ^ I can see it too. If that's the case it will definitely come in handy running 8-seat trains on a busy day. Universal's really starting to like those conveyor belts it seems.
  9. I'm still operating attractions on the west side of Disneyland, I still have knowledge on all 3 of my attractions. DL Railroad (since 07) Indiana Jones Adventure (since 08) Big Thunder Mountain Railroad (since 09) I absolutely love it too.
  10. Does that mean we get to borrow Spectro Magic?
  11. I just got back from a quick visit to the park, rode in the cab on the monorail from Downtown Disney. Everyone else in the cab was going to the Magic Eye Theater. I only waited about 20 minutes to see Captain EO. I hadn't seen Captain EO before and had no idea what to expect. I wasn't expecting the theater to move as much as it did. It bounces up and down for almost the entire main song sequence which was kind of weird. I was surprised to see that flashing lights were installed as it looks like Captain EO won't be a permanent installation.Overall, I really enjoyed the show. As some have said before, the video seemed a little blurry but that might be something to be ironed out in the near future. The show was received by fans with cheers and applause almost every few minutes. True Michael Jackson fans will certainly appreciate this tribute to the king of pop, and everyday theme park fans should be happy that something finally replaced HISTA, even if it was the show that was there before HISTA was new. Welcome back, Captain EO.
  12. Woah! I can't believe there's already track in place on RSR! Those hills are a little bigger than I expected them to be.
  13. I'm pretty sure Disney knows what they're doing... G-Force, you say focus on the parks they already have, well... it seems like they're doing both if you really look at it. We have World of Color, Little Mermaid, Cars Land, a complete DCA overhaul, Fantasyland overhaul at WDW, Star Tours 2, Tokyo's new Fantasmic, Hong Kong Disneyland's immediate expansion to name a few. I think Shanghai Disneyland will be great for both the Disney brand and the people of China. Lastly, we (attraction fans) get a great, new theme park to look forward to. Disney has always been about great quality, and I'm not saying that just because I work for them. I work for them BECAUSE of that fact.
  14. Even after reading a while back that the jets and screens would be massive, to see photos of them in action still blows my mind! You will easily be able to see these from outside the park, what an eye-grabber!
  15. Looks interesting, I was expecting Tokyo to get a copy of World of Color so this is a nice surprise.
  16. What a scumbag... People like him need to stay the hell home. I hope on behalf of the victim this jerk is put in a cage with all the other animals who do this kind of thing.
  17. That model is a great reference as I was trying to figure out just where everything will be built in Fantasyland Forest. In my opinion, this is a much needed rehab for WDW's Fantasyland. It will definitely up the quality of theming. With Goofy's Barnstormer coaster being rethemed to Dumbo, I wonder if DCA will receive the old Goofy/Aviation show props, as Mulholland Madness will be renamed "Goofy's Sky School" and sport the same theme.
  18. Awesome collection, my favorite piece is the Indy coin, I want one!
  19. I'm loving your TR! Seeing the SpectroMagic parade photos was especially cool, I wish we could trade the electrical parade for this one... just for one season. I really loved it when I was a kid growing up on the east coast.
  20. I remember seeing this with my parents when I was a kid and it was just a little bit awkward... I really enjoyed this pavilion, and Elissa... that is an incredible idea!
  21. I was just in the park yesterday and also noticed the painting going on, as the queue monitors were covered with plastic. I am interested to see the show as I only moved to California a few years ago and never got a chance to see it. I'm really sick of HISTA, and I'm sure many other people are too. According to my cast reference guide, the official name of the attraction is "CAPTAIN EO Tribute" and from what I've been hearing, the Captain EO film will only stay in the theater until Star Tours 2 is completed. I wonder what will come next for the Magic Eye Theater... I've also heard that there were some pretty neat effects in the theater back when the show first arrived at Disneyland, but if the rumors are true that EO is only making a temporary stay, I have to wonder if they will bother reinstalling them.
  22. Man it's so good to see new dark rides being built, especially on my side of the country.
  23. Wildwood, NJ is one of my favorite vacation spot, I have a lot of fond memories of visiting the place when I was a kid. Looking forward to seeing what other good stuff they have in store for us! Still hoping for a really scary walkthrough attraction!
  24. I was never a fan of Rita's theming so I'm happy to see it being updated! 13's train looks really cool, as does the rest of the "creeping forest" scenery. Well done AT!
  25. I have been on Ghost Galaxy a total of 15 times now and as soon as I get back to the west coast I'll be back in line again! I'm glad so many of you enjoy the layover as much as I do, it's clear that it was a huge success and we will likely see it return next year. Such a clever idea that was perfectly executed, Imagineering never ceases to amaze me!
