The RCT3 Preview Thread
AlmereStars replied to mcjaco's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
@griffonj2022: Looks nice! Can't really see an entrance, so that makes me want to look at your thread the 30th @-Edge of Beast-: I Love RCT3 night / sunset shots! looks good. I'm geussing that straight bit is a launch section? -
Hey everybody, You all probably noticed that I wasn't really an active member of the Forum in the last few years. The main reason for that is that I'm really busy with my life as a student. Another reason for not being that active is because of RCT games becoming really old. RCT3 for example is already 7 years old! I think that over the last couple of years I lost more and more interest in the game. I became excited again when the CS reached a really high level and you could do amazing stuff with it. But then the game really let me down by crashing all the time when you start to use more and more Custom made things. I posted some stuff in the preview thread that I was working on, but didn't get to finish because of the crashes. I decided to make one last park, a sort of goodbye to Rollercoaster Tycoon 3. I wanted to pay tribute to the game that I have played so much. Therefore I decided to uninstall the game entirely, including all CS and other stuff. I installed a new, clean, version of the game and made a park in a way that you are somewhat supposed to play the game. So I made some rules for myself: - No Custom Scenery, Flatrides or anything else. - No changes to Options.txt - No programs that help you with the game in any other way There is one thing that I did use and that is the M Brookes cheat. You can't really do much without us that cheat. I also wanted to use the Themes that the game gives you, instead of using rollercoasters as roofs etc. Anyway on to the park itself! Poortania AdventureLand Poortania Adventureland is a Theme Park designed for families. It has 4 Rollercoasters and a lot of other thrillrides. The park is located in a forest with some hills and is open till midnight (night update is also coming!) I'll start with an overview that I posted in the Preview Thread a couple of days ago Preview Now heading onto the more interesting shots! Driving towards the parking lot entrance The parking lot within a short amount of time it transformed into a sea of cars Square before entering the park. Information building on the left and a building for buying tickets on the right (can't see it in this pic) Once you enter the park you'll come across another square with shops and restaurants etc. You will also walk straight into the first ride Other view of the Swing ride, with the queue This concludes the first update. I will end every update with an overview of the covered area. Shots are taken in the RCT1/2 Isometric camera view. I hope you enjoyed it so far! Parking lot Entrance with ride

The "Preview" Thread
AlmereStars replied to DBru's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
The last park I will post on the internet (and probably the last park I will make all together) will be a NCS park, to pay tribute to RCT3. The fact that my parks that has CS keep crashing is also one of the reasons why it will be withouth any Custom stuff. I will post the park pretty soon, as its almost finished -

This park ain't that bad... but can I suggest something? Your buildings are all just blocks like this. now theres nothing wrong with boxes, but there just not that interesting. I'd suggest that you can use different starting points of your buildings, instead of all in one line. so that it looks like this from the top: ______________________________________________________ |...........|................|................|.........................| |...........|................|................|.........................| |...........|__________|................|.........................| |______|..................|................|_______________| ..............................|__________| ................................................................................ .............................SIDEWALK....................................... _________________________________________________________ That way it gives the park more depth. Also if you give your buildings different shapes and add some detail(like a shack alongside the building). And build your buildings in different heights. So one building is 2 stories high, and the next is 4 and the one next to that is 3 etc. it all helps giving the park depth. And with depth, people have to look for stuff.. which keeps it interesting I hope you know what I mean, and you play with it a bit. Just ignore everyone who is posting just hatefull posts. Everyone was at this rct level ones. and most important: if you enjoy making the park, its a good park. Good luck! -
Official RCT3 Help Thread
AlmereStars replied to mcjaco's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
No you shouldn't be worried. It does not limit anything. It probably means that the RCT3 maps that are in "My Documents" are ticked as "Read Only" in the properties. You can remove this by going to "My Documents" and then right click on the "RCT3" map. Then choose Properties. Untick "read only" and hit Ok or Apply. That should remove the warning. If thats not the problem, then I don't know what is. But it doesn't limit anything or create problems, just the annoying pop-up. The problem with your water can be that your graphic settings has been set back to minimal or something? Or do you have multiple water area's at different heights? Cause only the largest waterbody is reflecting, along with other waterbody's at the same height -
@the ghost: you are 100% right. If you only take the base game, so no custom stuff. Then RCT2 is way more realistic in way of how everything looks. Just look at the Giga Coaster or the geusts. RCT2 made there rides way more realistic then they are in RCT3. Although most of the flat rides in RCT3 look pretty realistic. However, if you take the engine of the game. Then RCT3 is more realistic. The way the cars travel along the track is more realistic. Geusts that come in families, including kids and grandpa's. Instead of just generic geusts in RCT2. But if you add the custom scnerey thats available nowadays This is a picture from a park i'm currently making (will probably share the park within a couple of weeks). Its not even close to the pictures that Edge of Beast posted. But this one isn't photoshopped. If you add the realistic 3d trees, then I think that this looks more realistic (and works more realistic) then anything in RCT2. even with CS

AlmereStars replied to goldiehound's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Haha you should try the "Flying Camera" routes editor, you can make prettier movies that way! But I got to say that I like the coaster. The shops not so much... try to put in some detail inside shops (windows/plants etc.) -

This park has a great feeling to it! Love the last picture of the previous update. Could we get some more pictures of the woody? I like to see how you supported it -
Everland [RCT3]
AlmereStars replied to Steffen_Dk's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Nice! A park from Steffen, now those are the good old days The entrance area looks cool. That structure on top of the lift hill, is that supported in any other way? or is it just hanging there. anyway, have fun with the project -
I've been on this coaster a couple of times last season.. I gotta say, good job! Really good job! The Outside looks just like it in real life... Also a good job on the inside of the rollercoaster, especcialy when you consider the limits that RCT3 brings. But out of the 4 times i've ridden this coaster, 2 times the lights failed so I don't really know how it all looks on the inside that well.

I started on this when the Challenge was announced, but I had to work a lot.. so this extra day is really welcome here since I had the afternoon off. I'm not the best technical builder within the NL-community (just look at my past coasters) so I used this challenge to do stuff I haven't done before, which is theme it up with a custom building/qeue's etc without using 3DS. So most of the work on this coaster went into the building and figuring out how to do that. The coaster itself is handbuild, no Newton or other programs I really don't understand and now the shamefull part : I did use the generic supports, since I forgot about them and I had to do them just know. The coaster itself meets the requirements with 3 trains, 6 cars per train, and a top speed of 54 mp/h. It has a vertical loop and 2 Corkscrews. Well 1 good Corkscrew, and 1 weird one I screwed up a bit haha. Its obvious that I probably dont end up at the top of the rankings, but I hope you all like it as much as I like these challenges On to the pics: View of the station from the qeue The sort-of corkscrews From the top of probably the smallest lift hill i've done Overall view And the: DOWNLOAD

RCT3 - B&M Wingrider - Reaper
AlmereStars replied to Schibbles's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Looks good! It really does. but maybe add some details?? the castle is missing a lot of windows, now I know that the CS you use don't have a lot of windows. But you can combine this set really well with ShyGuy's Alpine Village sets -

Um... When you talk about pumping and jerks, take a trip to coaster hell and ride Psyclone, or go to Japan and ride White Cyclone, THEN come back and tell me that this ride is too jerky rough and bumpy. Sure it's not the smoothest coaster, wooden coasters commonly have the G almost no banking turns. There were 4 major dueling sections, that's more than Dueling Dragons and Lightning Racer. FOR GOD'S SAKE IT'S A WOODEN COASTER! Seriously... The ride looked very cool and very fun, not to mention a neat concept that I wish more wooden coasters would have (High 5). SoCal-I'd ride this over White Cyclone any day-Coasters. Thank you for defending my rollercoaster and I'm really happy that you liked it! But he has some points. Technically it is not the best coaster. But I've never been that great on the technical aspect of building rollercoasters in NL. Hell, I was glad that the G's didn't spike into red (and beyond)... But criticism is a good thing, and he liked the creativity of the ride.. so thats good! Personally I don't think the technical aspect is a big issue. This is my first NL coaster in a long time and the first ever Racing/Duelling Rollercoaster I have ever build (even RCT included). It's really tricky to get the trains at the same point, at the same time, at somewhat the same speed! So lets not get into a fight. I really Liked the concept, and I wanted to share that with all of you! Always open for some constructive criticism @the ghost: Thank you! Glad you liked it -

** BREAKING NEWS ** IT HAS ARRIVED ** EVACUATE NOW! ** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ldfO9kE9k14 The onride is not filmed on the front seat, but in the middle of each train. I did this to emphasize the racing aspect of the ride. Downpart is that the bumps on the ride are more visible... Some screens: I really hope you all like it!! Its the first racing rollercoaster I have made. You can download the NLPack (with some small scenery) or just the NLTrack (without scenery). When you open the track, it is possible you'll get an error that some scenery is missing. But you can ignore the error. I deleted all the scenery in it, but I still get this message. Your page looks great! clean and simple, but it has almost all the info it needs! great I'm going to try this one more time, there have been a lot of great ideas up till now -
TPR Front Page RE-Design Contest!
AlmereStars replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
True, but there's a fine line between making something new and re-arranging. You have to keep in mind that the style should remain the same. It is not a total rebranding. As Robb said, the random/updates/searchbox etc. should remain on the site. Displaying them on the site will always look pretty much te same. I think that a lot of pages that have been created thus far are completely new, but not new enough to go "Thats not TPR" when viewing them. -
TPR Front Page RE-Design Contest!
AlmereStars replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
here is version 0.2 of my design! This time I used the current colour scheme, although I did made some changes. Social: Added Google +1 and Facebook Like buttons Menu: You guys want to be able to expand the menu, but I want to do something different. Instead of using a vertical navbar, I used a horizontal bar. To emphasize Club TPR some more, I used the logo text. I didn't know which font you use for Club TPR but you'll get the idea Photo/Youtube These don't have titles , but I can add them if you want. the size is the correct format for embedding youtube video's. Login: This is where you can login or search the site. Once logged in you'll see new message icon, a Submit button for the Reviews, Exchange and CoasterTube and more. (search area remains the same) 3 columns At first the idea wasn't to be scrollable, but I actually like it. I added the date as a graphic instead of a single line of text. Randomizer Right know the randomizer only shows a review, but why not include random Videos and Downloads??. I also included a refresh button in the title bar, so when you click on it Randomizes again. and I added a facebook box, (used an image from google, searching Facebook Box)
