TPR Challenge - We have a WINNER!
AlmereStars replied to A.J.'s topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Thank You AJ! So here are my votes (and thoughts for that matter) [MOD EDIT: Remember, these are the opinions of one member- and aren't considered part of the voting process- R.D.- GFMT] Fab_74 The first thing that I thought when I opened this park was "He didn't do a lot"... I was surprised that you managed to achieve the goals with not that many things. I really struggled with the challenge, so good job with this efficient park. Unfortunatly the park doesn't have a lot to offer, it has 2 new rollercoaster and a couple of flat rides along with the rides that came with the challenge. It also could have used some theming. I also have a qeustion for you.. cause I found this in your park, what where you planning to build? Rating: 5/10 AJClarke0912 Good park! At the entrance of the park you didn't at a lot, but when you stroll down the rest of the park you'll find some great stuff. I like the fact that you added multiple stations to the railroad and incorporated them with the stations from other rides. The wooded side of the park looks good, but the park has it down sides. You used 2 standard rides (Splash Mine and Manic Miner) including the standard theming. Which is allowed, but I personally think creating your own adds some more charm to it. The woody of the park, Black bear, looks really good. But sadly its closed and when I opened it I soon found out why it is closed: People are too scared to ride it The star of the park is Bergsprung. Which is a great coaster, with a high capacity (and generating a lot of cash)... Its a big ride, which probably cost you a lot of money.. so good job on creating this coaster Rating: 7/10 As I'm not rating my own park, lets move on to: MrSum1_55 You open the park and BAM Duel rollercoaster! Awesome! I believe you are the only one that has a Duelling coaster in the park, so your scored some points on that! The blue one is going kind of slow though, but great job. Now that the dueling coaster is out of the way, I don't think it is the big star of this park. For me that would be Runaway Mine Train. I love mine trains, and although it doesn't have a lot of theming it looks good (trees do a lot). You are on of the few people who didn't use the Splash Boats as the water ride. but I think you could have done more with the River Rapids. Overall theming is simple, yet effecitve. But Super Looper is an unnecessary ride which spoils the entire lake. For me, the park also lacks flat rides. Rate: 6.5/10 accelerate Damn, you have a lot of money!.. why didn't you use that to plant some trees or something? its a shame, cause the park in general looks like a fair instead of a park. But it has some good things! I like how you incorporated the bridges inside the stations of the railroad and The Bunny Hop. The custom Supports on Forbidden are great and I think time consuming. The Go karts are really ugly though and the pathway towars Tsunami shouldn't cross the entire lake. I think that if you mirrored Tsunami and let the pathway go to Geurillia, it would have looked better. About Geurillia: I like it a lot! Nice compact coaster. Like AJClarke0912 you also used standard RCT2 rides, which is a let down for me. And the whole layout looks like a mess with bridges and tunnels etc. but overall theming looks okay. Unlike other parks it looks mechanical, while most parks uses Jungle and Mine theming. Rating: 6/10 deathbydinn Western/indian theming! nice and unique You also used River Rapids instead of Splash Boats but I don't really like this one. I think that if you lowered the ground beneath the ride, so the water is on ground level, it would have looked better. Its also pretty small and could use some more simple theming (like roofs on some points etc.). Also in that area, I think that the buildings are too blocky. If you change the height of several roof area's a bit it looks a lot better and more dynamic. Just like you did on the bridge in front of Tidal Wave. You can'also try to make your houses not to look like squares. I Guess the Mine Mania rollercoaster is on sale, cause here it is again Hillside Hurricane looks like a fun terrain coaster with some nice bunny hills at the end. I love Water Coasters, so I like the fact that you used it You are also the only one that uses chairlifts. Which are good, but I think it would've looked better if you let them go trough the hillside some more. Rating: 6/10 The_SETGO_Guys Bleu Streak got some brothers! Thats a lot of track in so little space! Its funny to watch that for a second. I like it. Moo Moo Milk Farm is a great name! Boo Boo to the trims though. This part of the park has some good rides, but there is little to no theming. Theming this place is a challenge on its own though with all the rides going trough each other. The other side of the park is themed a lot better. Starting with a good Spiral Coaster. jeeh for the water coaster. But the stars (yeah 2) of the park got to be Arrow Mining Company and Summit! They look good, and if you themed the stations they would be one of the best in this challenge. Overall its a shame that only one part of the park is themed. rating: 6.5/10 sfgamguy One of the view that didn't use single path! It looks a lot better. The entrance square is good, altough the Wild Mouse could use some station theming. Ghost Shaft looks good! You didn't use the normal Haunted House theming (like I did), but it still looks a like a good Haunted House. Overall the Mine area of the park looks clean and open. I like what you did with the Log Flumes going over the pathway. It looks like you had a time issue on the other side of the park.. which is a shame cause it has potential. The Hyper-Twister coaster is a fun small addition. But the enitre side of this park lacks theming. Overall a good park! Rating: 7/10 PDXtwistedsteel Now thats weird.. Mine Mania has yet another clone. Splash Mine is also a standard ride. But I do like the Virginia Reel. I think this park also lacks theming and it doesn't have a lot of rides. Rating: 5.5/10 So thats it! My winners are sfgamguy and AJClarke0912 -
Efteling Discussion Thread
AlmereStars replied to Pepper's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Its a big park with huge attendance records (4m in 2009), by european standards. But I also think that the park needs a huge thrill ride. This 3D mapping looks awesome, but only adds to the experience of Villa Volta. I don't think it attracts more people though. But its a first, as far as I know. -
Efteling Discussion Thread
AlmereStars replied to Pepper's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The Efteling has something new for this years Winter Efteling: 3D Mapping! Using this technology the park has made "mini-shows" (as I like to call them) for this years winter efteling. When the sun sets, these lights (or lasers.. don't know how its been done) will make the builings look like there alive! 3D mapping is used on De Vliegende Holland, Villa Volta and Spookslot. They posted some video's on youtube. I personally think Villa Volta is the best one! Spookslot (interactive ghosts): De Vliegende Hollander (short story about the ship in a storm, shortly translated: No one will stand between me and sailing my ship. We'll saill til the end of time) Villa Volta (madhouse, story about how the house is cursed and that only a clean spirit can break the curse) I think this one is awesome! best part starts after 2:06 minutes: -
Tripreport Walibi Holland Halloween
AlmereStars replied to hansrubens's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I went to Movie Park Germany this year, but visited Fright Nights the last couple of years. I gotta say overal I like Walibi more. But what happened to Gravedigger!!! he was awesome when Harold Verwoert (also known as Coole Piet) played the character. I Think its good that they change the theme up a bit, but Eddie the Clown is still the most awesome clown ever. Alice in Horrorland (maze where you have to put on 3D glasses) is also one of the best mazes i've ever been to! and Beetlejuice being the most funny character ever. @hansrubens There has been 4 mazes in years, the new maze replaced Club Roxy. I don't really mind that Club Roxy is gone though. But is the new maze any good? Cause the name (Eddy's funhouse of fear) lets me think that its kind of the same as Circus of Freaks, which has been gone for 2 years now . And was there a final show this year, or has it been cancelled again like last year? But in all I think Walibi Holland has one of the biggest halloween events in europe. And apart from some terrible people (mostly youth)visiting it, it has always been awesome! -
@AJClarke0912: Haha thanks, I don't really think it is that much better I like your park @A.J.: Haha well uhm.. im in between jobs right now (starting my new job december 1st.) so I have to do something.. @accelerate: custom supports! Looks really cool @MrSum1_55: Which file? I can't see any Coasters look great

So I finished my park already I'm quite happy with it, but I struggled making a 10.000 bucks profit so the top part of the park is not that themed and more just random flat rides to generate some income. But in the end I defeated this challenge! As in every challenge with RCT2 I have a mine themed area. This time combined with a main street(ish), kids area and boulevard. The attractions I specifically like are the Twisted Log (hyper twister coaster), Junior (junior coaster), Backlash (log flumes), Haunted Manor (haunted house) and Double Decker. a custom double deck merry-go-round (located in the kids area, not the merry-go-round at the mine area). I hope you like it, but enough talking.. Here are some pictures and the download link: DOWNLOAD The Entrance Junior Mining Area The cars in the center of this picture are the biggest hit for the visitors.. made huge crowds, but now its getting old The last drop of Backlash on the other side of the park you'll find a small kids area, with the doubledeck caroussel and Haunted Manor The Boulevard Two of the biggest rides at the park. Overview and a postcard

Yeeeeh another challenge! I never won one, but I always enjoy trying to beat the challenges! Hope this will attract some more builders.. I will be joining! I think we will see some suprising stuff, considering you can't build intense attractions, which most of the time make the most profits. I like it

I think you did learned from your previous parks. While it isn't really bad, I think everything is generic.. Some small tips to make it more themed (if you want to): - Theme the queues, with roofs.. a small river with a width of only 1 block (with the queue as a bridge) or stuff like that - at Flight of Speed (good layout btw) there is a straight section next to the station. I think it will look great if you make a building attached to the station where the coaster goes right trough (like a shack or some kind of garage or something)

Official RCT3 Help Thread
AlmereStars replied to mcjaco's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
@Ace Of Spades: The problem is that when you at a train, the game automatically places the train at the next available section (going backwards from the station) I think this is what you want: [station]___[last brakesection with train]______[block brake without train]_____[block brake with train] that's impossible in RCT it will always place the train on the second block brake. There is nog fix for it, only thing you can do is remove the block brake in the middle and make it a regalur brake section. -
Tnx for everyone who voted for me so far! Personally I think AJClarke0912's coaster is the best, good job!! But in the hope to gain some votes, I am shamelessly posting the video of my coaster again. (If this is against the rules of the competition, then please remove it) [coastertube]http://www.themeparkreview.com/coastertube/play.php?vid=Predator_Video_bz6h[/coastertube]

Woa! Those are some really cool coasters!! I gotta say TPR, these challenges are fun. I don''t really play rollercoastergames anymore, but participating in these challenges is really fun. My coaster is called Predator. Is around 2570 feet long and has a top speed of 83 km/h (that is 51 mph for you americans) and runs with 4 trains (5 cars each) I didn''t use a lot of Custom Supports, because I completely suck at those. The coaster is handbuild, and since its been a while since I played NL I am really proud of the result! Some Pics; And here is the: DOWNLOAD

The biggest problem with RCT3 and custom stuff is that the game is not build for it. RCT2 can handle CS much better then RCT3. It isn't a problem for RCT3 to handle some CS, but when you want to build huge parks with CS it crashes/lags so much that after some time you just give up. I played RCT3 a lot and a few years ago I posted the parks here on TPR, the good old days that thelegendarymatthew and SteffenDK also posted amazing parks. But the lagging and the crashing made me hate the game that I actually loved more then RCT2. That parks looking "generic" is because of the game being 3D and cartoony style, while RCT2 is looking more realistic (especcialy the rides). With RCT3 you also have the same background (sky etc.) while with RCT2 you only see whats on the ground. Some CS (shyguys, vodhins etc.) are being used way to much because they really are the best. But while they are the best, they do look a like. The use of colours also have to do with the fact that most parks look a like. You just can't choose from a lot of colours. Another difference between RCT2 and RCT3 cs is that in RCT2 most people use Scenery (custom or not) for something that it isn't intended for. Like using woodenrollercoastertracks as roofs, walls as supports etc. etc. Because RCT2 has Isometric Graphics this can be achieved much more then with the 3D graphics from RCT3. Mostly because it looks good from above, but not from the ground etc. And last is the problem that there aren't really alot of colourcombination you can use. That being sad, I used CS a lot.. making just 1 park (River Forrest click here) without any CS. Although it worked pretty well, the CS makes it all look a lot better and way more realistic, even though most CS look the same. I posted some pictures of my CS use on how it looks more realistic then ingame scenery My own made double carrousel, can't be done without CS Tea Cups (CTR) and a CS-made playground in the back. Looking way better then the ingame tea cups (hersheys) and something that you can't make without CS My biggest Custom Supports project. Woody entirely made by hand. Al these 3 pics are from a park I made, but that kept on crashing because of the size of the savegame. The game just couldn't handle it anymore. (there are more pics of it in the preview thread on page 171)

I didn't want to enter this challenge because I didn't had the time.. but now I'm sick at home, so here's my park! The Challenge itself wasn't that difficult, but the placement of the ride itself is horrible Couldn't you place The Big Dipper somewhere along the side of the park? Ah well, I think I did a pretty good job so here it goes SCR27.BMP The Entry SCR28.BMP There's a small square where you can find some shops and information desks SCR29.BMP but you can take a left turn when you enter the park before the square. This is where you'll find Elf Forrest SCR30.BMP When you press Enter 2 times, you'll get this view of the Splash-A-Palooza SCR31.BMP This is what I did to the station building of TEH BIG DIPPER. I placed another Woody right next to it SCR33.BMP Told Ya, its another woody SCR32.BMP My least favorite part of the park time was catching up on me SCR34.BMP The Mine Themed part of the park, with a drop tower, a simulator (simulating a mine accident) inside the mountains and a mine rollercoaster SCR35.BMP and the last coaster is a looping coaster SCR36.BMP Overview So thats it, Good luck to everyone who has yet to finish their parks! Most of the entries look awesome already Download: http://themeparkreview.com/game_exchange/track.php?id=2219

As I always play a scenario to complete it, I didnt go overboard trying to theme the hell out of the park. There's just not enough time for it. But I tink that my park turned out pretty fine. I did manage to complete the scenario here are some pics This is the entrance area, with some shops, a merry-go-round and at the right a black box. Which is a motion-simulator warping you into a black hole This is what you see when you flip the camera around. The first credit is called Butterfly, a kiddieride. And you'll see the twin Space Shots called Black and White. I haven't changed anything to the standing rollercoaster This is the 2nd credit, a LIM launched rollercoaster. its called Razor This area in the back is pretty messy. Just some random rides in 1 place. I ran out of time In the back corner there is a small castle themed area, with a Swinging Ship, With a small darkride and the 4the credit. Its a gigacoaster called White Castle (I know, I suck at naming stuff) This is the biggest themed area, called Fallen Mines. And this is what I did to Loop of Fun Food sqaure and the oldtimers This is failure, a droptower.. falling into the mines (notice the cleaner, I didn't place him there) Another credit, a watercoaster called Blast Mine. I really like how this turned out! and the last shot, some random flatrides and Brain Drain (only changed the colours) And an overview shot What you can't see in the pictures is that the park has its own metro as a Transport System. I added the park to the game exchange and well.. I hope you like it! Its a fun Scenario Grand Gardens AlmereStars Entry in Game Exchange This is my entry for the First Official Game Exchange Competition. Take a look in the topic for further details
