  1. I agree with Jeff, I grew up on Scooby Doo at KD. I believe in the last few years the final bunny hop was removed for a longer brake run?? At least the version at Carowinds was missing the hill. Only problem I have is at 6+ feet I have to ride alone spread eagle in order to fit in the trains lol!!!!!
  2. Either night is good, Herhsaypark is imo one of the best parks out there. Great rides and amazing atmosphere. sooperdooperLooper rocks!!!
  3. I am gonna guess El Toro at SFGA????
  4. Kennywood is a nice "small" park, not a lot of walking and there is a ride queue around every turn. Six Flags America is layed out petty stupid, long walk back to Superman/ Batwing and then oops, dead end!!!! BGE is a lot of walking with BIG hills and lotsa steps. Thank God for the sky ride and train system!!
  5. can't find the damn pictures from the bar but here is one of the beer bottles anyway Brass Kactus, Cumberland, Maryland yeah babeeeee
  6. I belive my first visit was to CP either the year of the Demon drop or the Avalanche run. This ptr helped me remember back to those days and what the park used to look like before the major skyline change. We had a blast and continued visiting untill I started working there the summer of 1993 (year before Raptor). It would've been nice had they been able to entertwine the Raptor with the flume, simple yet fun, not too wet. The big ride for that summer was Snake River, and it went through a few changes due to accidents(people hitting their head on the lap bars at the bottom of the drop) and the boats never quite making the splash that was advertised. Oh well, in the name of progress, all hail CP!!!!
  7. Funny, I had the same thing happen a few years back!!! All power was gone from the park and all the water was gone from the slides?? To the best of my knowledge it never came back that day and like you said the guest relations line was so long it would have been the next morning before we got through that mess. And if I remember right, it was @ the same time of day!!!
  8. A POV can be found here at this web site http://www.coaster-net.com/videos.php
  9. two of the prettiest sights at night are the Comet at Hersheypark and the Rebel Yell at Kings Dominion viewed from above witht the tracer lights outlining the ride.
  10. Went down to Myrtle Beach last week ( August 13 - 19 2006) and hit the Pavillion for the customary last rides!! Spent 30 friggin bucks for my neice, nephew and myself 2 rides on Hurricane. Once in the front and once in the back. Worst rides of my life!!!! That thing felt like it was coming apart in both helixes and the jackhammering was awful. The straightaways weren't too bad with some nice air but OMFG the turns were killer. Has anyone else noticed this, it has been about 4 years since my last visit.... All hail Duffy's and the Bowery!!!!!!!!!!!! Hurricane overview
  11. well, just returned from Myrtle Beach and had the priveledge of getting the shit knocked out of me by the Swamp Fox and Hurricane. Sad to see Pavillion going, but good bye to the Hurricane. Never have I been so shaken around or pounded into my seat as I was Friday afternoon (August 18, 2006).I honestly felt like the ride was gonna crash through the rails going around the helixes!!! All hail Duffy's and The Bowery!!!!
  12. Mormons or overlooked parks?? I would have to say that Idlewild, Lakemont, DelGrossos's (Bland's) would fit this category. They are WELL off the beaten path in rural areas of Pennsylvania and they make great one day trips with the family. Delgrosso's even have free concerts in the summer which draw immense crowds sometimes (check out their website for info). Idlewild is set in the woods and seems so far away from everyday life and the hustle and bustle of the real world, simply wonderful to relieve stress!! Lakemont could use a bit of upkeep and new rides, but with the minimal attendance they have and being closed on Mon and Tues, I guess they really can't afford it. But for coaster and spin and puke addicts, you can't beat the no wait rides they have!!!
  13. IMHO terrain refers to something that follows the land without much support structure. Other than lift(which I think dragon Mountain actually goes right up the hill without ever leaving the ground) there should not be any need for supports. Most of the rides listed here actually have support structure over 50 feet off the ground?? I don't know, just an observation.....
  14. holy crap, 1000 acres is pretty damn big, I doubt Kennywood is even 100 acres(before the expansion). Cedar Point is like 364 or something I belive, so that would make the new park 3 times the size of CP and look how many coasters they have!!!!!
  15. very few of these sound like terrain coasters?? Beast yeah, because it just sorta runs along the ground never far off except for the 2 lifts. AC, LNM at BGE are not really terrain, the are built high off the ground. Jack Rabbit at KW kinda fits here, the first drop and second half of double dip I don't think even require supports!!! There is grass growing up between the rails!!!
  16. http://www.thrillnetwork.com/stories_view.php/1639 I was flipping through some sites and came across this about 20 minutes ago, should help you all out somewhat. Sounds like it is proposed for Wheeling, not Pittsburgh??
  17. Haunted River at Kings Dominion (RIP) Damn Paramounts!!!! The drop out of the seemingly too small tunnel at the end always had me ducking and the theming inside was good in a cheesy kinda way. Dorney's log flume has to be my favorite operating, there is just something about it, not sure if it is the concrete trough or the really long(or so it seems) drop that pretty much soaks you good(for a flume) at the end.
  18. The first drop on Wild One was shortened a few years back, the turnaround has been drastically altered in the last few seasons. The helix was originally there and then something happened I belive like a fire maybe that caused the original park to remove it. It was added back when Wild World moved it to the park. As far as say the Leap The Dips, it was in my uderstanding jst redone in the same layout and everything as the original with no changes to the blueprint of the actual ride. Steel Phantom/Phantom's revenge was a complete change from the original to make a whole new ride.
  19. Not too sure of dates but Leap The Dips, Comet(HP), all three woodies at Kennywood, Thunderhawk (DP), Blue streak(CP), Big Dipper (GL). How does Wild One qualify as old, it was totally moved and rebuilt in a new/old configuration and been modified since??
  20. It's hard to think that far back, but I belive the answer for me would be Shockwave at Kings Dominion, opening year on a church day( Saturday). It was all the way around the helix and up the hill to the Eiffel tower. And you all know the slow dispatch of the Togo standups!!! I am grateful for the parks who have the signs that tell you how long from this point. I refuse to wait over 30 minutes for a ride regardless of what it is.Staying on point at CP gives you the early admission for TTD and MF so we did get 2 back to backs on TTD and MF before the hoards of people took the line out to over 3 hours!!
  21. I myself have only been to 3, Carowinds being the most recent for my wife and my first anniversary. I really enjoyed it as it was a new experience. Kings Dominion has usually been a 2 - 3 time a year visit due to the 2 1/2 hour drive. Kings Island is a lot further and only been there twice. (prior to SOB) Kings Island was good and my first backwards coaster way back when. KD is really lacking since the days before Paramount, they really screwed up a good thing!!! It used to be full of rides and could be an all day trip.(Remember the Firestone show at the end of the day with the hot air balloons and parachuters!!) The Lost World mountain, King Kobra, Galaxy, Hanna Barbera Land, Grizzly completely hidden in the trees(dumb Hurler), Racing rivers, Apple Turnover, and the list goes on and on..... The only good thing is backwards lleY lebeR. They seem to lack in the operations department like Six Flags, (slow dispatch times and useless trains sitting on maintence tracks). Carowinds was nicely laid out with good coasters and nice themeing and scenery. Top Gun kicked ass, Hurler hurt like hell, Thunder road only ran forward side(sux) and it is close to NASCAR country lol!!! Would like to go to CW and check out their rides, it has always intrigued me for some reason, GA just looks kinda dismal to me, don't know why?
  22. Historically, I would have to say antwhere there was a Harry Traver coaster like the Aeroplane, Cyclone, or original Bobs. And I would love to go back in time when Kings Dominion (not Paramount) had the King Kobra, Galaxy, and the Lost World!!! those rides rocked when I was a young boy.
  23. Do they even have 5 trains for the LTD?? I don't think so....
  24. As far as I can think back, since they redid the LTD, it has only ever ran 1 train. The first year or so they also charged $2.50 per ride!!!! And yes, you can't beat the $8 for as little people seem to visit the park. Anytime I have ever been there the last few years, my group was the only one riding the rides and the Skyliner had to wait for enough people to send the train out!!!
