Andy Shine's Quiz Time
eddie200330 replied to Simon Baynham's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The first question about CP says the correct answer is four?? Millineum Force Mantis Magnum Maverick Mean Streak I might be dumb in math, but that = 5 -
From traveling down that way alot I don't believe there is any form of PT from Baltimore to Largo other than 1 helluva expensive cab ride. I know from DC you can Metro your way via rail and bus to get there. And depending on a bus station, Greyhound might get you close to SFGA. You could always check the Washington DC Metro guide for some kind of help in this matter. I know the prices are pretty cheap for using the Metro rail to get around. http://www.wmata.com/ This link might get you some good info.

Yeah I noted the train length on the last page, and not only was the drop on HR steep, but probably one of the best headchopper moments anywhere! This is why Emmet Brown (SP) invented the flux capacitor for the DeLorean.... how I want to go back in time!! -

Just a little question. Why in the 2 pictures of the Rebel Yell dropping off the lift is the blue train only 4 cars and the red train the usual 5 cars long? -

Great stuff Shane!! I so miss the good old days at KD. Shoot me if you want, but I would still rather be screaming past the lake on the King Kobra and winding through the mountain on the Haunted River than looking at their replacements. I remember when kiddieland had "cool" rides before the brats from Nick came in and took over. And what a rush Grizzly was in the trees before that wood pile called Hurler came along and ruined the back corner of the park. I used to love when the Firestone balloon and parachuters came into the park, and the water skiers on the "BIG" lake that used to be there... oh the memories of mispent youth LMAO. Keep up the good work man........ -
I hope the woman spinning the swings gets paid good money!!! That is what you call manual labor LMAO!

Nürburgring launched coaster

The second pic down the page, about 3 inches left of the red arrow and a little up. What is that loopy looking thing?? Is that part of it? -
Sea World Australia new coaster
eddie200330 replied to Gutterflower's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
So is there going to be water underneath this thing to simulate an actual jet ski run?? With the curves and my imaginationI can definitely picture the motions of a jet ski slicing through the water which would make for a really cool ride. -

Holy Crap, can you say whiplash!! When CP first opened Snake River they had a lot of issues with people slamming their face into the lap bars and fronts of the boats. They had to redo the pullout at the bottom of the drop. And this thing is gonna hit 50 MPH!!!! That seems like a very sudden stop at the splashdown. As far as a pedestrian bridge, that wall of water would probably knock you clear into Illinois LMAO -
Best and Worst Log Flumes
eddie200330 replied to gldude's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Dorney has a pretty cool flume that gets you pretty wet. It has what seems like one of the fastest drops on any flume I have ever been on. It picks up really decent speed going down. I also liked the Haunted River at Kings Dominion, the whole head chopper drop out of the mountain! As far as worst I have been on would definitely be the Paul Bunyan thingy over at Idlewild... -
DelGrossos and Lakemont

I posted this in the original thread but it has since dropped to the bottom of page 2. Just a little FYI about DelGrosso's "new" coaster... Hello and thank you for your interest in DelGrosso’s Amusement Park. To be honest we have been doing a lot of homework on the Corkscrew coaster. There still is no concrete time when the coaster is going up though. It will be a great addition to the Park someday. Sorry! DelGrosso's to add "new" coaster in '07

What is your favorite Stand Up coaster?
eddie200330 replied to the ghost's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Out of Mantis, King Cobra, Shockwave(KD), and Vortex (Carowinds) I think that the Togo's are the better of the brand. The amount of air in the back "seat" going down the first drop is amazing and unerving at the same time. They offer a little more freedom since you are not crowded 4 across and the elements seem to flow a lot better with the longer train. As far as the Togo headbanging is concerned, I think the B&M's have more of the bouncing and banging to them. -
DelGrossos and Lakemont
eddie200330 replied to BRTeller's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I would recommend DelGrosso's first, and end with Lakemont, you might be able to catch a ball game at the same time. Also, be sure to check out the schedules as I belive Lakemont is closed on Mon and Tues., with Wednesday being a dollar day type deal! Their website has all the info on it. Also just about every other Sunday DelGrosso's offers the "FREE" concert in the park with sorta top of the line country, oldies, and christian acts. Unless it is someone you would want to see, stay away as the place will be packed. http://www.lakemontparkfun.com/ http://www.delgrossos.com/dap.html -
DelGrossos and Lakemont
eddie200330 replied to BRTeller's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Forget about the kiddie credit at Lakemont. I was denied last year because you have to be under I believe 14 years old or some crap they told me. So it looks like another year is gonna pass with no corkscrew at DelGrosso's. The pieces have been sitting in the same spots since they arrived and by the looks of your pics, they still haven't moved. BTW, the karts at Lakemont blow the ones away at DelGrosso's. Both parks are less than 1.5 hours away so we hit them up every year. Lakemont has the better "rides" DelGrossos the better "atmosphere". Lakemont is like one big ghetto fun fair where if there is no one waiting they tend to let the rides run a little longer!!! -
It looks like from their operating calendars, they only coincide the last week of the month being open all week. That probably is your best shot at smaller crowds because of school still being in session. The weather might be iffy this time of year but I would rather wear a sweatshirt and pants than stand in a 3 hour line for the rides.

Just by the straightness of the track leading to the loop I would say it is the Revolution under construction. It is the only coaster I know of with that weird long straight instead of a normal parabolic type drop. -

Didn't they hype the new coaster as something to do with heat or being hotter, the whole temperature thing? Maybe they are just playing off this again, but I kinda gotta go with the water idea. I don't see them dumping the rapids though, that always seemed like a high volume attraction. -
Memories from Kings Dominion
eddie200330 replied to pkd freak's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Wow that was pretty cool. I rslly miss the old Lost World and the original rides that were in there. I think they were better suited than the Volcano. The Apple Turnover and the other rides that used to line down the "midway" next to the lake where they did the water ski show in front of the King Cobra! (Damn I'm old) Thanx for the older pix, it was a fun park back in the 80's early 90's. Now it is just an "extreme" park, not much of the same atmosphere that made it the unique place it originally was. -

And they all said Cedar Point doesn't have trees ! LOL Of course that was 30 years ago, my how times have changed... Does anyone have anything on the Shoot the Rapids flumes ? They look pretty cool, and I must say I also miss the Mill Race flume in the front of the park. It was quite the quirky little ride and I think it would have coincided well with Raptor flying overhead!! -
