What is your favorite coaster year?
eddie200330 replied to coasterdude5's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
1998 and Magnum at CP. Still by far one of the best rides out there,(especially when it stops in time!!) -
Cedar Point in late August?
eddie200330 replied to Coasterbp's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
In past visits and during my "career" there, the 1st few opening weeks of May (during the week) , before school lets out it usually is pretty reasonable. The best way to find out about schools starting back up would be to check the local website for Sandusky or Erie County. As with any trip to CP, we always allowed ourselve 2 full days in the park because of the long waits for all of their rides. Not sure if you are a season pass holder or not, but if not get the family getaway guide on their website, calling 1 800 best fun, or at the customer service center at the front gate. It has some good coupons and what not in it. Hope this helps somewhat..... -
I miss the King Cobra also, albeit the one in Kings Dominion. Also their original lineup of the Lost World prior to it all being gutted for a crappy(ducks the flying objects) coaster. Kennywoods Laser Loop!! Hooray for shuttle loops from Mr. S!!! I rode the kiddy coaster at KW but I don't really remember much about it, must've been @ 6 years old maybe. Oh, and the Galaxy at KD, Glissade at Busch Gardens, and the old log flume where the Raptor now stands at CP. Lost World pre Volcano

I know this is an old thread, but I was just playing @ and checked out rcdb and now it says 2008 for the "new" coaster?? http://www.rcdb.com/id3606.htm -
Springtime in Hershey 2007
eddie200330 replied to eddie200330's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Last year Wildcat was open even though the ride list said it wouldn't. It says at the bottom of the web page that rides and attractions are subject to change. I guess it depends on staffing and weather maybe...... http://www.hersheypa.com/events/springtime/index.php -
Springtime in Hershey 2007
eddie200330 replied to eddie200330's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
We are shooting for Good Friday as it wasn't too bad last year, only thing that sucked was Storm Runner and 1 train. Ride it first and there is no wait. All in all you can't beat the less than 20 bucks entry and if you subscribe to their sweetmail link on the website they usually send a coupon!!! I doubt that any of Midway America will be open with all of the construction going on. And yes Skyscraper, with all this snow and cold weather, it will be nice to get a new coaster season under way. BTW I wonder what the chances are of their still being snow on the ground in 3 weeks!!!!! LOL -
April 6-8 (Easter weekend) is the Springtime in the park preview weekend for Hersheypark. It seems from the website all wil be open except for Midway America which I believe was not listed last year either and Wildcat and a few other rides were open anyhow. Anyone planning on going?? 19.95 adults and 14.95 kids if I am not mistaken.... Usually not too crowded and reasonably good weather!!!

SOB New Trains from Myrtle Beach
eddie200330 replied to verticalzero's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm not sure how much of it was the trains fault, but I thought the last season of the Hurricane was atrociuos!!! The ride was brutal, seats uncomfortable, was the worst experience I ever had on a coaster. If it was due to the trains, I can't imagine what the hell SOB will be like going that fast and bouncing around the turns!!! "Acting like a maniac......... Whiplash!!!!!" -
HARRY G. TRAVER: (1982) "Legends of Terror" By Richard Munch. This is the one! The famous coaster designer of the 1920s - 40s is profiled here from his turn-of-the-century flat rides to his coaster creations that struck terror in many and excitement in others. Traver's work is well documented through company catalogs, photos, clippings, trade advertisements, and diagrams. *(Recommended. Although the original photo quality is not the best, the book reproduction work is good. The Crystal Beach Cyclone is well profiled here with many pictures, a description, and a layout diagram.) Published by: Amusement Park Books ISBN: 0-935408-02-9 20925 Mastic Road Fairview Park, Ohio 44126 Price: $14.95 (U.S. Funds) U.S.A. http://cec.chebucto.org/Books/FlatBook.html maybe this will help save about $200!!!!

Which parks have changed the most?
eddie200330 replied to AT0527's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I believe that Kings Dominion suffered drastically when Paramounts took over. It lost its hometown park charm and turned into corporate nightmare. Everywhere you turned they were ramming the movies down your throat. I'm sorry, that is what Blockbuster is for, not the gift shops at the amusement park!!!! -
The Best Morgan Hyper Coaster
eddie200330 replied to Thrillrider15's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I agree with Steel Force, excellent air in the back seat and awesome helix turnaround that just keeps getting faster and faster. I only have 1 issue with the so called Morgan Phantom's Revenge. Arrow built the ride , Morgan just altered the second half. Before anyone complains about that, I do feel the change was for the better and turned out an incredible ride(although it could use some more length to kill the speed before slamming into the brakes!!) -
best bobsled coaster
eddie200330 replied to methos's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I have only been on 2 also, KD Avalanche, CP DT. I can't believe all the votes for DT?? Such a lame ride that was even worse when it was Avalanche Run Bobsleds!!! At least the KD version has some good twisting and turning with decent speed and 1 or 2 good pops of airtime. It would be nice if it were longer and a little more comfortable for 2 riders, the front rider gets squished by the restraint. -
Cedar Point - Hotel Questions
eddie200330 replied to eyeamthu1's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I am pretty sure the website has a link for it, or call 1-800-BESTFUN for the family getaway guide. It has many useful coupons for just about everything at the park. They offer the 2 day ride and slide pass for pretty much the cost of one day admission to CP. IMHO the cost of the rooms at Breakers is outrageous for what they are like inside. You are only paying for the convenience of walking out front door into the park. Sandcastle is much nicer for the money. Lighthouse Point is also overpriced. The cabins are tiny inside and 4 people sleep in a room no bigger than your standard jail cell!!! (The other 2 get a harder than hell futon!) As was stated earlier Sandusky is worthless outside of CP, Cleveland is a short drive down the coast. -
Can CFI Undo Paramount's Handy Work
eddie200330 replied to mrhambone's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
As far back as I can remember, around 5 years or so old(I am 33 now) I myself and family used to visit Kings Dominion on a regular basis. I always loved the Galaxy and King Kobra. I know I will catch a lot of flack for this, but I wish they would have left the "mountain" alone with the Time Shaft, Haunted river and Land of the Dooz. Why remove three good rides to replace with one? Paramount really did a number on the park with all of the crappy movie theming and whatnot. I preferred the old park with the rides and Hanna Barberra attractions. Maybe CF can remove the unnecessary theming and just make a good old fashioned "traditional" park once again!! -
Hey everybody! This thread is simple! Rather than having a million little threads about everything that goes on at Kemah Boardwalk and the Boardwalk Bullet, this thread is designed to consolidate it all into one user-friendly thread. Feel free to use it to post updates, trip reports, questions, comments, and of course, general discussion. For pictures and videos of the park as well as past updates, see TPR's Park Index Page. Official Park Website Below are some links to past updates from the park, you may be interested in. Details soon, we hope." Anyone have any idea what and where???

Photo TR: Broward County Fair
eddie200330 replied to Jumboshrmp's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Reithoffer (SP) is the supplier of the rides and midway at our local fair here in Allegany County Maryland. They usually bring 1 or 2 "hot" rides and the rest are just your average carny rides. Once they brought aFlitzer, never anything of the magnitude of spinning mouse type coasters. Zipper is definitely the best (scariest) fair ride just for the fact you spin so out of control and you keep waiting for the pins to fly out and your cage to go soaring throught the air! -
Cypress Gardens Announcement on Nov. 9th

http://www.rcdb.com/document226.htm Here is a story from RCDB concerning the 2007 season at CG -
Intamin - I would have to say the impulse rides. They are just blah.....(honorable mention goes to TTD, so fast, so stooopid, so "what just happened???") BTW Storm Runner kicks A** GCI - I have to agree about the Wildcat at HP. Very rough and no real airtime or anything. B&M - Hydra was pretty lame, as much as it was slow, I think Hercules should've been reworked and kept there!
