  1. This coaster seems to fit BGE well and the theme looks immaculate. I wish I knew someone who would be willing to go on a 9 hour drive with me. Yeah it's tough getting to Williamsburg from Pittsburgh.
  2. To me it seems like change is not only inevitable, but it's necessary. I have limited business and marketing experience from college and I feel like I could run the park better. Sort of like rebuilding a failing baseball team... yeah I'm a Pirates fan. Well I'm also a regular at Canadohta Lake which is about an hour east of Meadville, PA and while my family owns a cottage on the lake the only restaurant on the lake; called the Frog Pond, has also been seeing some tough times. It used to be more of an amusement park (pictures inside confirm this) a long time ago and then downgraded to a mini-golf course, go-karts and bumper boats. Now almost all of the land has been turned into camper grounds that the Frog Pond owns. Only the slide remains, but still I heard the owner is no longer interested in running it. I don't know what's going to happen, but I hope someone else buys it if that's the case. The point with the Frog Pond is that almost everything that I know from my vacation region in Northwestern PA is changing. Tough times are hitting everyone and not everybody is spending the extra money to go to amusement parks, baseball games, resorts, etc. Unless of course the park markets itself appropriately. The season pass idea was asinine and the strategy in paying for everything sounds like something socialistic (I normally don't like referencing politics, but this was the only thing I could compare it to). The community doesn't need to feel obligated to maintain the park and to be honest I always felt depressed when I went there. The atmosphere hardly reflects fun anymore and the last time it did for me personally it was ACE Day on the Lake in 2004. If it were up to me I would go in one of two directions. Totally overall everything and make this park healthy enough to compete with the major parks. This would cost a fortune though, so the second and more realistic option would be to start selling anything that would get the park back into the black. I'm surprised the park has not already tried doing this because I don't know how it expects to compete. Conneaut Lake Park might be historic in a way, but business is still business. Edit: Haha, sorry Robb I had no idea A.C.E. stood for Gravy Train.
  3. This is pretty sweet looking. I've never ridden one of these swinging spinning rides (not even Cosmic Chaos), but apparently Kennywood loves the swinging rides don't they? Swing Shot, Aero 360 (not really swinging, but same idea), Pirate Ship, Wave Swinger, and my old favorite that I hope makes a return someday the Swing Around. Btw, with this being a huge triangle shaped structure it should be easy to decorate for Christmas.
  4. Wow this seems like forever ago, but 5 years have past since I was a part of my old college's paintball league. I made this video of us playing tournament style in our gym using re-balls. It hurts to get double tapped in the nuts by these balls. Ugh... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lz6dUOxIAqk
  5. I did enjoy my 12oz cup of TopHat when I watched Celtic Fyre at Busch Gardens Europe last summer. Besides a beer garden at Kennywood sounds perfect and as the article mentioned there is alcohol already being served down the Sandcastle water park. There used to be a bar called the Sandbar, but I'm not sure if it's still there or not.
  6. Hmm I wonder if Kennywood will have Angry Birds, lol... I guess they lost too many Giant Ass Pandas with the old game.
  7. I don't think that Pujols and Fielder had that big of an effect on the NL Central, so I don't see drastic changes from last year. It'd be nice "not" to see the Pirates in 5th and 6th place spots and I want to see the Astros do better. It will keep the Cubs, Brewers and Cardinals in check instead of just being the whipping boy of the division. I have no pity for the Cubs, I remember all too well when they owned the division like the Cardinals do now.
  8. Well I'm still not a Cedar Fair fan, but as said before there's more than one culprit. I actually never even heard of Geauga Lake until I went to Sea World on a class trip in 1998. I loved Sea World and to be honest there was nothing like it for the longest time. The only thing that comes close is the Pittsburgh Zoo. I'll never forgive for the closing of Sea World Ohio.
  9. This looks like fun, but the footprint interests me. I guess we can't walk from the Pizza Pavilion to the Exterminator anymore? I've always liked that quiet little corner of Lost Kennywood that happened to have a 255' drop tower next to it. As for people who have arachnophobia should definitely check this article out about Lights. http://www.inkedmag.com/inked-people/lights/ Basically Lights bought a tarantula to help her fears with spiders.
  10. The Pitt Fall removal kind of makes me think about the Skycoaster. The park has always made changes around the lagoon, but for what it's worth it's always been sold out when I go to the park. I always wanted to see a dive coaster do a splash down in that lagoon.
  11. When was this rumor? Is this pre or post park sale? This was presale and back when the Mon-Valley Expressway was still in the plans. I think it was the Vice President who made reference to the Eurostar and how much he liked it. It was only rumored though...
  12. This looks awesome. I had no idea they were running rides too... weather permitting I guess.
  13. I wonder if the old Swingaround would fit in that spot? Then again I'd like to see it back at the lagoon and something equally extreme as Pitt Fall going in its old spot. Weren't there Flyers in that spot at one point?
  14. The only real shocking removal of any ride was the Steel Phantom in 2000. As a teenager I didn't know better nor did I care about anything else in the world. It's like Coca Cola, but instead of bringing back the original Phantom they just made it better in my opinion. Airtime and speed over loops and headaches any day. Speaking of which can we get our B&M hyper someday? At one point it was rumored that Kennywood was interested in getting one. Hell, two hypers in one park would be awesome. 800th post btw, it only took me 6 years.
  15. I will miss that view of the Thunderbolt and Phantom from the Pitt Fall, but whatever Kennywood puts in I hope it's high capacity. It would take some of the load off the Exterminator for a change.
  16. I am glad to see Six Flags make this effort in reinvesting in their existing wooden roller coasters. This might be the start of an era where I prefer Six Flags over Cedar Fair. Not that the topper track forgives all sins and whatnot, but Cedar Fair's stock has been decreasing ever since Geauga Lake turned into a water park that's not worth crossing state lines for. As for Dorney Park, I'd rather drive past it and go to Great Adventure if I was to travel that far across the state. Go get em' Six Flags!
  17. With Sarah's just down the road it's almost impossible for Waldameer to compete... food wise anyway. Sarah's... I love this place.
  18. Whoa, that video was lagging a bit. It kind of reminded me of when No Limits first came out and my computer couldn't handle Open GL. It's cool though and that "Swingaround" lookalike makes me miss Kennywood's version... I miss it a bunch.
  19. ^ You know I love Pittsburgh and everything, but who thought up this poll? A part of me thinks it's crazy that the last time I went to Kennywood was in 2009 when I did my documentary for my TV Production class. I guess priorities are priorities though.
  20. I'm not sure how much repetition I can handle. I had to stop reading the posts by the second page because almost every post with exception to Robb's are repeating the same thing. On a side note I discovered something awesome today! Over 100 different variety of Coke products coming from one machine. I'm in love...
  21. I fail to see the silver lining with the apocalypse. Perhaps it makes us laugh at life and why we shouldn't take it so seriously, but then again we get that everyday regardless. Everyday people die and it's all over the TV, in the newspapers and on the internet. I don't know about anyone else, but I have too many problems in my own life to worry about doomsday. If it does come I don't want to know about it.
  22. Pretty cool looking spinner you've put together. Man it's been so long since I've even opened No Limits and I'm starting to miss it. I used to do 3D modeling, but I was a novice at best. My modeling skills were alright, but often plagued by scaling issues. I don't want to highjack your thread, so I'll keep the pictures in the attic where they belong. Btw, 3D can be compensated with awesome landscaping...
  23. I very much loved this TR of NYC. I've been there twice so far and I plan to go back someday. I feel like I have some bearing of the city now. I've actually driven through the city which was pretty cool except that parking around Broadway can be quite expensive. Next time I think I'll plan some use of public transport. I'll probably still stay in New Jersey since it's cheaper. For the record I love the 9/11 memorial and the new tower that's being built.
