  1. Has TGG/MNV ever created a coaster that could be referred to as a "one-trick pony?" Seriously, I have more confidence in TGG than just about every other coaster design company out there. Like I said I'm not trying to be "Debbie the Downer," but if the most exciting element is two tracks that happen to be mirror banking each other then it makes me question the rest of the ride. I am just as excited and interested as everyone else though. I just want to see the whole layout before I get too excited.
  2. ^ I've never been to a music festival before. It probably would be fun and all, but I still prefer to see bands in a more intimate setting. Speaking of which, does anyone like Flyleaf? I saw them open for Breaking Benjamin and Three Days Grace back in February at State College and I thought they were awsome. I've been keeping my eyes peeled for more shows. By the way, here's video that I found from the Penn State show I went to.
  3. I'm not trying to be bitter, but it doesn't seem like that big of a deal. It's real good for the Chinese and rich people who get to travel to China, but until the rest of the layout is available then I just see this coaster as a one-trick pony. I am sure Robb is scheming to disprove me.
  4. ^^ I am glad that it's not a hard hit and; of course, I don't want Kennywood to get any lawsuits because of this, but I think it's still unacceptable for this to happen. Also, hypothetically if the Phantom's Revenge had a clearance issue with the Thunderbolt structure and warned people to not put their hands up while going down the second drop or whatever. That leaves a whole lot of margin for error and Kennywood is almost guaranteed a big lawsuit. I am just saying that Kennywood could be sued even if the sign on Sky Rocket says people over 5'11" can't ride row 4 because the ride ops. might miss it and if someone gets hurt the park will still be held liable despite the warning. For the park and rider's sake, I hope they can fix this problem. I guess the warnings are going to have to do for now.
  5. ^ I say that's a really serious problem. How long to Kennywood's next lawsuit?
  6. I love the pictures. Indiana Beach is one of many parks that I've yet to experience. Knoebles and Holiday World are on that list too...
  7. I got to admit that I am a bit jealous. Beer, Schwarzkopf, hot pretzel girls, and more beer... why the hell do I work everyday?
  8. ^ From what I've gathered from the local annoying theatrical Mark Madden it has to do with Gonchar being overpriced for his age and apparently we're getting this new D-man who has some potential. I won't make any assumptions, so I have to wait until the Fall to see how he does.
  9. My vote is in. I hope your design wins and I'm sure to vote everyday.
  10. ^To elaborate further, the facade for the Lost Kennywood sign is based off of old "Pittsburg's" Luna Park's facade. It operated for only 4 years back in the early 1900s. I feel like Rick Sebak...
  11. ^ The videos are cool and the coaster looks awesome, but the media still cracks me up with things like, "...it's unlike any of the 6 roller coasters at Kennywood because of its launch-technology which makes it so smooth."
  12. ^^ My mistake, that 2002 trip was the only one that I watched footage of. I'll have to look at the 2006 trip report I guess... Andrew "I've been done with ACE for a long time, by the way." Dailey
  13. This Photo TR reminds me of the 2002 European Coaster Odyssey trip. I guess you're just doing round 2, but hopefully you don't stay at Pontins again...
  14. Whoever was speaking in that Coastercrew video sounded very familiar. The straps do look awesome and I am sure they make the ride better. Intimidator gives me a new reason to re-visit Virginia.
  15. ^ I have to agree with you with just about everything. To me it doesn't really matter to me whether the train stops before the launch or not and the cliff hanger element seems to have a more practical use than a thrilling one. I don't understand the MCBR to begin with because how exactly does the train stop if there are just metallic fins and no squeeze brakes? There's just one more con that I wanted to point out and that's the height of the track after the second barrel roll. Those S-turns and bunny hops look fun and all, but it seems like there's a good 20 feet between the track and the ground. To me that's a waste of energy that could be used for a larger drop or how about a nice intense helix? Anyway, I know I am not a roller coaster designer (even though I used to pretend to be one on No Limits), but it is what it is now I guess.
  16. ^ No I haven't, but I can't see it adding to the experience. I mean audio fits for dark rides and other types of rides that need some spice, but as for coasters I think it's not a big deal. In Texas Giant's case I don't think audio would fit unless it's themed to something totally out of left field like with the park's recent sponsorship campaigns maybe Red Bull!
  17. ^ Maybe some TVs playing Family Guy with audio would fit. Just kidding; I never really understood the correlation of audio being used on roller coasters. I think it just distracts the riders from the experience. Edit: Apparently this post is my beast (666). Anyone who gives a crap can email DAN!
  18. ^^ It's probably aesthetic related because anything major would have prohibit the ACErs from riding. At least that's my theory. I am looking forward to riding this come Julyish, but I am still wanting to see how the Phantom rides with the modified track on the second hill and I; of course, need my Pitt Fall fix.
  19. I watched the newest episode tonight. I don't know what to say about the stroke that Phil had, but I guess it answered some questions I had like did it happen on the boat and did it happen on camera. It was hard for me to watch this season because I knew about Phil passing, but it looks like Josh wants to continue to run the boat.
  20. ^ Yeah I noticed that too. Oh well, some people only know how to complain or speculate... So there are no drive tires on this coaster? I mean obviously it's LSM driven through the launch, but I would have expected a rudimentary form of transport for the brake run and station. I'm just curious if it's just gravity bringing the train back to the station or if LSMs are doing it.
  21. ^ Well don't the Gerstlauer trains on the Falken at Farup Sommerland ride nice? I haven't heard any complaints. ^^^ Thanks for the info on the manufacturer. I guess if this really works out well for Six Flags then maybe we can see an improved Mean Streak or dare I say Son of Beast in the future?
  22. ^ Not unless you have a phone card from Sprint, AT&T or Verizon.
  23. May I ask a dumb question, who is manufacturing the new track? It's just that when the Steel Phantom got converted to Phantom's Revenge it became known as an Arrow/Morgan coaster and same goes for the Thunderbolt when it got converted from the Pippin, it's known as a Miller/Vettel coaster. Maybe we can just refer to the new Texas Giant as a Dinn/??? coaster.
