I haven't been to Idlewild since I was little and the Storybook Forest still looks the same which is pretty cool. Ligonier is a pretty far drive for me (as is Kennywood because of traffic), so I rarely go out that way, but I think the water park might be worth looking into. Anyone else think that girl in the second to last picture is hot?

I think most coaster enthusiasts prefer the ride quality over its appearance. The Storm Runner at Hershey Park; for example, has some of the oddest looking inversions, but it rides incredibly smooth. I think the design of these trains make for a higher center of gravity which allows for an intensified ride experience. The point being, don't judge this ride by the way it looks. I know I said in post awhile back that the trains actually looked a little small for someone tall like me, but the seats might be bigger than what I thought and that illusion led me to believe they were small. -

I am happy that the Sky Rocket doesn't make a loud noise during the launch. That MCBR needs some tweaking; obviously, but the train seems to maneuver the rest of the coaster pretty effortlessly. I know I was worried about capacity before, but as long as loading and unloading is fluent then the wait should be reasonable. -

I hope the Pirates win. It's not that I want to see Strasburg lose horribly because he's a rookie, but I want the Pirates to win more games. I imagine the team as a whole will approach tonight's game no differently than any game they've played, but maybe the individual veterans will take it upon themselves to show the him what it's like to give up a home run or two. -
Movies, Movies, Movies.....
Dailey Enterprizes replied to robbalvey's topic in Random, Random, Random
I have a little story... so I was bored tonight and I felt like watching a movie I haven't seen yet. I had about $20 left on my moviepro.net account so I figured I would search for something to watch. I rounded up the "usual suspects" to watch like Sandlot and Slapshot for cheap, but that's because they're only in 480p Divx format. Then I don't know exactly how I remembered, but I clearly recall seeing a commercial a long time ago for a rather bizarre looking movie. 9 Movie Trailer That's right, it was "9." I remember the commercial being awesome, so I figured it would be worth watching. I am glad that I did. I want to know why it got little publicity because I thought it was really cool and interesting. I actually made the comment on the YouTube video that even though I am not a fan of apocalyptic type movies it was so different it sounded too impossible to happen, but at the same time it made itself so incredibly real. Those are my feelings on the movie and I am sure to watch it again. -

^ Yeah, I heard about both of them on MLB TV. I guess Junior had to leave sometime and I'm glad it's not turning out like some Brett Favre dilemma or whatever. I can't see the picture that you're referring too, but I saw the replay and it's really obvious that he was out. -
I thought the chat room last night was a bit much to handle. Let's just say that chat room is the closest thing to an orgy that I'll ever experience...

So Charlie Morton is 1-9 and has an ERA of 9.35. I think I've seen enough of him pitching. At least I was at the one game he managed to win... -

I just hope it's the aspect ratio of the pictures making the seats look tiny. I am 6'4" and I have a feeling my knees might be up at my chest while riding. -
My first tornado siren
Dailey Enterprizes replied to la2lvtom's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
While tornadoes are a rarity in Southwestern Pennsylvania they can be deadlier than ones in tornado alley. Reason being that it's misconceived that tornadoes can't form around mountains, cities, rivers, and cliffs... Of course, tornadoes can form anywhere. They occur often in tornado alley because of the cold air from the Rockies colliding with the hot air from the Gulf of Mexico. -

Now that the layout is complete it's looking quite impressive. I just hope it tests well and I am praying it has two-train operation when it opens. I still remember the opening for Phantom's Revenge being a two hour wait and that was with one train that held 27 riders opposed to the Sky Rocket that can hold 12 riders per train. Also, unless the Que wraps behind the Grand Prix, Bayern Kurve and Musik Express it will create some congestion out of the tunnel. Hopefully, Kennywood has all this figured out already. -

My hat is off to the Canadiens. The better team won this time around and after watching them shut down Pittsburgh I think they will probably be in the Stanley Cup Finals for sure. I agree the Pens seemed they didn't care a whole lot after that 5th goal. I sure did, but when that is already in their heads the game is pretty much over. With that said I am still not sorry for the great things the Penguins and Crosby have done for Pittsburgh and I can't wait to see them play again, but this time it will be in the Consol Energy Center, -

^ That's cool. Yeah I've been to Three Rivers as well. All I remember is there was plenty of parking before they decided to build the ballpark, football stadium, parking garages, and subway stations... ^^ Haha, well the skyline is beautiful. It's pretty hard not to look at it while at the game. Views are important to us... Actually the Mellon Arena Roof has the ability to open up, but it just hasn't been done that often. -

I forgot to post about my solo visit to PNC Park to see the Pirates last week, but I'll talk about it anyway. Last Wednesday was the second game in a series against the Cubs. I wanted to go to the previous game because Paul Maholm; which is one of my favorite pitchers, was playing, but I couldn't go. They ended up winning that game and knowing the Cubs were always a fierce rival to the Pirates I still wanted to go. So even though Charlie Morton was pitching (he was 0-5 up to Wednesday's game) I went despite who was Pitching and that I had nobody to go with. It's pretty cheap to go to a Pirate game these days. I found $5 parking across the river which is nice compared to the $20+ parking next to the stadium. They also have automated ticket sales machines outside the gates, so I picked up a $10 outfield grandstand ticket. Even though I was about as high as you can get in the stadium it still provides a wonderful view of the ball game and the city. As for the game itself Morton pitched very well and picked up his first win of the season. He is rough around the corners, but he has some amazing movement on his pitches. In addition to the pitching the offense was very good too. Ryan Church hit a solo home run with Jones and McCutchen hitting scoring doubles for a 4-2 win. I forgot to mention it was a beautiful night for baseball... -

^ From Pittsburgh it's probably a good 2 1/2 hours; assuming you don't get lost which happens to me even though I've been going up to Erie all my life. Just make sure you turn at the second to last right at the end of I-79. I only say this because it's easy to take the wrong ramp and it will send you in the opposite direction of the park. The biggest piece of advice you can get is to look for "Presque Isle;" not Waldameer because if you find Presque Isle you'll definitely find Waldameer, Great trip report; by the way, and I am surprised that they would run the coaster with the wind being like that, but then again they did run the coaster during a thunderstorm on Robb's video, so what the hell, right? The infamous ending of I-79. "don't get lost" -

I am only 23, but I thought baby names usually came from current or past family member names. Like if it was a boy it would come from my side or if it was a girl it would come from the wife's side. We all have very traditional names. Linda, Wayne, Jonathan, Melissa, Andrew (me), etc. -

Is the track gauge as narrow as it looks in these pictures? It kind of reminds me of the Maurer Söhne track. -

^Are you sure this was from a Toronto Maple Leafs' fan? Haha. That guy is definitely pro-Crosby. I love Crosby too, but I also think Ovechkin is as good as he's advertised. Maybe they're a victim of bad luck or something. Anyway, I don't really like to take sides because I love hockey in general and I love the competition or it would be boring. This Montreal series should definitely be intense because I know the Canadiens are tough mothers.. -
