  1. Haha, Robb you own the freakin monopoly of roller coaster television. You film, distribute, act, and sell... watch out for the FBI! I agree with everyone though, great work on everything. Also I'm looking for a production job, maybe someday you'll want other people to do the filming instead of you? Just thinking out loud, haha.
  2. You know I've been a member of TPR since the beginning and I never have emailed Dan. It's probably been offered over a thousand times through all the trip reports, but I guess I thought it was some recurring joke that was just there to tease people or something. I would think, "Yeah, like people emailed Dan, he would actually go through them all."
  3. ^ I never heard of altitude sickness. I never had a horrible park experience, but I did have a disappointing one at Hershey Park in 2005 when Storm Runner was put in. I got in line and I waited for an hour and the ride broke down. At this point I'm almost in the station and we were told that we could stay, but they could not tell us when or if they would reopen. To add insult to injury it was really muggy and I had to do #2 really bad. Anyway, 45 minutes later they reopen the ride and I got the second train, second car and had a great ride. Then the ride again was closed down and it remained that way for the rest of the day. Luckily, Hershey Park had all the other coasters and major rides running, but it was still disappointing that I couldn't get any more rides on Storm Runner.
  4. This is pretty horrific. It's sad because I know people living around the park and in other parts of the city are being affected by the flood. Yeah, the park being flooded is sad in itself, but buildings, etc. can be rebuilt, not lives.
  5. ^ Luckily I decided to check the website one last time because I was planning on going tomorrow. It's a shame...
  6. Haha, that's an awesome group photo at the end. I just noticed Kidtums riding the lion, apparently Elissa is being eaten by the lion I guess... lol.
  7. Haha, I have ADHD and I usually try to hide that I have it. Yeah, I think this is b.s. that parks are even considering not-to-mention doing this. They might as well be letting everyone who hates waiting go to the head of the line...
  8. Well cool, I got the day requested off from work and all I have to do is show up with the money. Sounds like it will be fun.
  9. The music was classic TPR style! I liked it, nice shots of everything.
  10. Pending registration details I think I'm pretty interested in this. I wish I could contribute more than $11 for the Blue Streak, but me being in college + credit card payments = me watching every penny I spend.
  11. Haha, that was great... coaster porn.
  12. Go Pens! I just remember how the Pens barely made it into the playoffs last season... and how they won the cup, I still can't believe it.
  13. I have to smile a little at the idea that the Pirates sweeped the Brewers a couple of series back. Not just because we lost 30 or so games in a row to them, but that we also disabled their shot at the playoffs. This reminds me when my Pitt Panthers disabled West Virginia's chance at the playoffs a couple of years back.
  14. What is it with those S&S Power swings at the other parks? Kennywood doesn't charge anything to ride it and after riding it, I don't see why they would charge anything for it, it's nothing special... Kennywood's version is cool though because you're launched over the highway on one end and over the Phantom on the other.
  15. Jeez, who dug this topic up. I started to read the first couple of posts and realized they were from 2005. Anyway, I haven't ridden too many coasters but the best ending would be Thunderbolt's 90 foot drop. The worse would be Mean Steak because the ride itself is a snoozer and the ending is a uninteresting drop and hill.
  16. According to Jeff Filicko's statement about the cost it sounds like money is no object. Well, while I'm glad to see them doing what it takes to build a great coaster, I just hope they don't end up taking away something else because of this. I'm talking about prices for games, food, Sky Coaster, parking, and admission prices. I don't want to see it costing as much to go to Hershey Park. Then again, Kennywood does provide alot of value for your money, so I would still technically be happy to pay whatever they charge, but it's something on my mind still.
  17. I'm loving that we're getting a new coaster. To be honest I wasn't seeing anything bigger than another wild mouse or some kind of kiddie coaster hand-me-down from another park. This coaster is brand-spanking new, customized, and innovative (sort of). Atleast I've never ridden anything like this before... I'm more than pleased!
  18. It's funny, everybody I know has pretty much disowned the Pirates, but the telecasters and commentators for the local FSN network sound very optimistic about next year. I will always be a Pirates fan, but I'm still wary about the future for the Bucs.
  19. As a Pirates fan it's safe to say that our plane has already spiraled out of control and has crashed. All we're doing now is damage control, but with that said I think the Cardinals are looking at the world series this year. It's a gut feeling I have...
  20. Great stuff man. I loved the pictures and how the ride seemed to just fit into that small space. I wish someone had pictures and video of West View Park, but I doubt it since they closed in 1977.
  21. Nice to see someone else who likes the second hill. I liked that little whip it gives you. Reminds me of a GCII maneuver for some reason...
  22. I loved the pictures. While some people may say that they'd like to go back in time to get a ride on the Crystal Beach Cyclone; I say I would like to go back in time to ride the Crystal Beach Comet... it looks awesome going along Lake Erie.
  23. Really great review of Kennywood! Though I've been going there since I was little it's still nice to see other people enjoying their experience.
  24. Well seeing as you've never been to either it really doesn't matter too much. I'm sure both parks will always be there, so you can wait your whole life to go to them. I know it is a pain to get to Kennywood from anywhere! I live 10 minutes north of Pittsburgh and it takes me 45 minutes to an hour to get to Kennywood. Kennywood should be given an entire day to enjoy because I'm sure if you try to rush everything you won't get the chance to enjoy the park. ^ I'm not sure what legends you heard about the coasters, but perhaps you didn't know where to look. The Thunderbolt is famous for the drop out of the station, the laterals during the bowl section, and the last 90 foot drop before you hit the brakes. I actually prefer the second to last drop exiting the mid course brakes because you're going faster, but that's just me... The Racer is mainly known for the competition of the two trains racing each other and the ability to slap hands with the people in the other train. The last drop on the Racer gives some pretty good airtime, but the coaster is considered the tamest out of all the wooden coasters. The Jack Rabbit is famous for its double dip section and the key to this coaster is to ride the back-seat, which seems to be a no-brainer, but I'm surprised by how many people complain about the lack of airtime when they're riding in the front seat... The Phantom has changed since the last time I rode it (re-tracking of the first drop and second hill), but all seats are great on this coaster and you get airtime where you wouldn't think you would get it. I think it's referred to as lateral airtime, but when entering the Thunderbolt structure the second time through gives a decent amount of floater air and of course the seat ejecting airtime over the 4-5 last bunny hills around the station area are great. The Exterminator is a great indoor spinning mouse roller coaster. It's the standard spinning mouse roller coaster inside a building themed around a power plant themed to be infested with huge rats. It's a great coaster and one of my favorites, but it's downfall is the wait in line, but that's it. Well that's pretty much the roller coasters there, but there is a kiddie coaster in kiddie land if you're a credit whore! Also don't forget about the classics that Kennywood offers... The Turtle Noah's Ark Garfield's Nightmare (Old Mill) Auto Race The Whip The Kangaroo (not sure if this is a classic, but it's definitely rare) Also, Kennywood has a great 250 ft. Intamin free fall tower (Pitt Fall), probably one of the best log flumes in the country (Log Jammer), a Sky Coaster, but that costs extra. A brand new interactive haunted mansion type ride (Ghostwood Estate) and others. I guess you can tell I've been to Kennywood quite a lot...
  25. I heard on the radio today that Billy Mays death was the result of a heart attack and the airplane incident had nothing to do with it.
