  1. Warning: Strong Language Randy's reaction basically explains mine. I hope the communities can rebuild themselves as well as the businesses including the piers. The only thing I take seriously about the piers are the people that had jobs there. As much as I hate hindsight I hope they can make the piers stronger now because of this.
  2. ...so what are the chances of a hurricane wiping out the Mean Streak.
  3. I feel bad for the people who own those cottages because my family owns a cottage over on Canadohta Lake and we've been going up there since I've been born (the cottage has been in the family since the 40s). I have to imagine that's what it's like for them as well. I would love to live along Erie someday.
  4. Why is it that Waldameer can survive and excel in this region while Geauga Lake downsizes and fails? PA>OH maybe, but I still wonder if Geauga Lake really was having it that bad or was it all bs. I don't care either way because I can go to Waldameer.
  5. The view of Presque Isle from Ravine Flyer II is pretty amazing. Edit: Yeah pictures would have been nice. Coming right up! From 2008 Behemoth Tour At first the beautiful view of Lake Erie. Then a trailer park?
  6. Aw, I love the Sloth. I've always been hesitant taking pictures/video of complete strangers at water parks. These pictures are very good (brochure quality), but I figure if I'm with friends/family it's acceptable. To me it's different than theme parks where I'm taking pictures/video of the rides and roller coasters and not so much the passengers. I guess I really believe in privacy.
  7. I feel like I'm the 1 out of 100 people who passed the ADD test with this report, lol... reason being there is a repeat of the same picture and of the same caption, so I'm sure it was an accident of Fiabilandia's Spinning Mouse coaster. I love the pictures and the Wacky Worm looks pretty sweet. That picture it took of Robb, Elissa and Kristen is awesome.
  8. Hi guys/girls: I went to Kennywood last Wednesday to check everything out. I posted this video in my trip report, but it has long since disappeared from the main page and I don't feel like bumping it, so I thought it'd be cool for people to see The Black Widow in action in this topic. The video is a music video of the entire park by the way. [coastertube]http://www.themeparkreview.com/coastertube/play.php?vid=Kennywood1_tezc[/coastertube]
  9. Cool... you know even being just an hour and a half south of Conneaut Lake I have no idea what's going on with the park. If CLP ever adopts a marketing plan I hope they advertise in Pittsburgh because we wouldn't know it existed otherwise. I like the pictures and I hope you got to visit Presque Isle while you were in Erie.
  10. Cool stuff there guys. The cars from the inverted Manhattan Express or Mirage Rosso from Fasanolandia looked like it should have swinged like a suspended coaster given the lack of banking. The eurofighter looked like it needed inversions where it didn't have them and didn't need them where it did. European humor might be the best with the pigs humping. Elissa loves to hate spinning coasters, but I do enjoy seeing her try to ride them.
  11. Yeah it's like the buddy system in a way. That and there's no seat divider.
  12. ^^ Thanks. I guess you're not talking about the content, but the quality. It's my photo capture on my Canon FS400. If I had the patience I would of turned the exposure down on some of the shots.
  13. I haven't been to Kennywood since 2008 for Phantom Fright Nights. There was a time where I went to Kennywood at the very least three times in a year. College and work changed my life in so many ways. Today I made exception because my old high school was offering discounted tickets for $26 instead of the $37.50 at the gate. It was also beautiful out, so I decided to go. I got there and parked on the second level for free which was cool. This is a good idea for parks who want guests to spend more money in the park itself I think. From what I could tell the park was decently busy. All the main midways were filled with people and the coasters were running two train operation. I got in and immediately started taking pictures and rolling video. My opinion of Sky Rocket is that it's an awesome addition to the park. A word to describe it is quirky which fits Kennywood's atmosphere perfectly. I only got to ride it once along with the Phantom's Revenge. I feel like I'm getting to the point where I enjoy taking pictures and video of coasters more than riding them, so I did have a lot of fun just taking pictures. It was beautiful out and these days I always remember. Here's the video, enjoy. [coastertube]http://www.themeparkreview.com/coastertube/play.php?vid=Kennywood1_tezc[/coastertube] I'm nearing Kennywood! I parked on the second level (for free) so I took the awesome escalator down to the bottom. Today was so nice out, so I wasn't in a hurry to get in. I took a lot of pictures and video today. The newer park entrance is still looking sharp. I love the carousel horses they have around the park. I saw two today. More beauty to behold. I see you Phantom train. VIP Coaster Tour, Laser Show, etc. Yay! Old Millish Kennywood has awesome picnic pavilions. I love attention to detail. Trimmed hedges back behind a big pavilion where hardly anyone ever sees them. Arcade, I thought this was called the Playdium at one point? Looking down towards the entrance. Lagoon. Jackwabbit (no rabbit) Wabbit? (Rabbit, with an R) More midway. I love trees! The Racer apparently. I love taking pictures of people taking pictures. This is why I'm here. I like parks that have little or no traffic areas and still hold beauty there. Don't do it! In a way I wish the trees were still there between the Racer and Log Jammer. A fair amount of wetness. Racer, while I'm here. Rig for laser show. Closer look. Sky Coaster was busy today. There are ducks here just like in Rollercoaster Tycoon. Aero 360, the flag is a little faded. Fountains... I love fountains. I don't know if you noticed, but it was perfect weather today. I see you Racer. Platform for Sky Coaster. Sky Coaster porn. There are bridges in and around Pittsburgh, I never knew that. Pagoda. Floral clock is pretty cool. Afro fountain credit. It felt awesome standing next to this thing on a hot day. A fair amount of wetness is to be expected, just watch the video! What about what? They were working hard on this today. It was closed obviously, I saw them repairing the track. Train ready to leave. Looks like a real railroad almost. Interesting how they managed to fit everything in this corner of the park. Ghostwood Estate. This was broken, but I like the idea. I never noticed these iron looking garden pieces before. A bunch of scary lovable characters, that's Pittsburgh for you. again, Ghostwood Estate. I rode it once and I feel like I never have to ride it again. Phantom looms over midway. You must have a partner, this I did not have in any capacity. I did have these though. Turtles... I love turtles. This is what the back of Turtles look like. Pittsburg's Lost Kennywood ala Luna Park. Amazing, just amazing. Mist wasn't working. Kennywood has Kabanas now.... that's interesting. They're not water proof. Volcano was dormant today. A maze? This looked interesting, but I didn't go inside. Anyone ever been in this one? Pirate vs. Phantom. Sounds like a bad sci-fi movie. The Grand Prix. Rated Arg for Pirates. The Musik Express that Jesse Eisenberg broke. I don't know why, but this picture looks like it was taken in the 80s or something? Phantom and midway. Yay for Fountains. So upon investigation the water from this fountain no longer empties into the lagoon where the Pittsburg Plunge is located. It's a flying saucer full of people! No thanks. Exterminator hiding in the corner. The Whip is still roofless. I say put The Whip back in its old home next to the Log Jammer. Hooray! More fountains. Again, every so often I'll take a picture and it will look like I took it in the 80s. Weird. Phantom n' Thunderbolt. I think the Phantom's life hill could act as modern day industrial art in a way. I prefer it running though. There is a leaf growing out of the top of the mushroom. It must be real! Here's carousel horse number 2. I love these things. Another angle of it. Carousel. George Washington and the Kangaroo. Flowers... I love flowers. This part of the park which happens to be in the very middle is very peaceful. One last shot of the Grand Prix. Thanks Kennywood for an awesome day.
  14. I really liked your report Steve. It sounds like the park hasn't changed much since I last visited for Storm Runner's inaugural season. Which is not a good thing. Man the coaster looks "naked" around the lift hill section. It reminds me of a coaster in No Limits in great need of supports, but I'm glad they didn't tear out any trees for it. Shame about the employees because I've been dealing with unhappy coworkers at work (Steve, I know you work at Outback too, so you probably know what I'm talking about). They constantly whine about everything and it; of course, affects their tips. Amusement park employees are another breed, but I'm sure management needs to step it up for better operations. Keep it up man.
  15. A classmate of mine from Motion Graphics class which was a year ago made this video. I think you guys/girls will like it.
  16. I think Intamin Megalites/Hyperlites (whatever you want to call them) are awesome coasters. They represent what's most important in a coaster: Speed, airtime, and re-ride-ability. I've been to Hershey Park once and it didn't seem that landlocked given the amount of parking they have by the stadium, but I guess if they had the option to put it on a more level plain they would have. I like the train design; it's unique, I'm pretty happy that Intamin is going back to the single bar look. It seems to be a combination of the wrap around bars for the hips and ankles from the OTSRs and a kind of B&M hyper clam shell to hold on to. I think I should take a paid vacation this summer and go to Hershey and Busch Gardens Europe.
  17. You ever see those commercials for people who have so many drug and alcohol addictions they need tons of therapy to relieve it. Then afterward you thank god for not having one of those addictions in the first place. That's how I feel right now, but with Star Wars. You know I think the warning at the beginning was misleading. I was expecting something vulgar and offensive, but this was just nerdy and sad. Haha...
  18. Mama mia... but seriously, I might get a stomach ulcer if I watch any more bad syfy movies. What's up with Paul Servino? Money talks I guess, but sheesh!
  19. Hey, great report of the line there Chuck. My longest wait times ever were probably the two hour wait for Phantom's Revenge opening year and Stormrunner (2 1/2 hour with breakdown) opening year. I'm thrilled that this beast moves and large capacity parks please take notice.
  20. The attack of the spongebob squarevagina alien monster was interesting to say the least.
  21. ^ It's not their fault that the guns are set to mildy bruised.
  22. You know I must say this movie has given me some confidence on my own film work. Thanks crappy SyFy network.
  23. I guess the movie budget wasn't big enough to have broll of the ship actually firing blanks, so they just animate it.
  24. Wow, talk about bringing back a 7 year old topic! For me the best ending used to belong to Big Bad Wolf at BGE, but now with it gone I say Ravine Flyer II. I know the actual ending for that ride is just a couple of bunny hops, but I think I can count the 90 degree banked turn as part of that coaster's ending. As for the worst ending I haven't really ridden a coaster that had a bad ending. Sure, I've ridden The Great Bear at Hershey's Park before, but it didn't leave me thinking that it had a bad ending. It just depends on the overall coaster really. For instance, the Serial Thriller that used to be at Six Flags Worlds of Adventure in Ohio was a pretty rough coaster and the ending left my head throbbing, so I would consider that to be a bad ending.
  25. That's a cool picture. It just gave me an idea, I wonder if it would be possible to get an in-focus picture taken from the back seat of Cyclops while it ejects you! Probably not, but it's something to think about. I would set the aperture to the biggest setting, but I don't know about the delay.
