Yeah I hate when amusement parks sully their own beauty by building roller coasters.1 point

So great to hear the news! In my book, Waldameer is one of the best parks, period. So much goodness, so well taken care of. No hassle and nice people. 4 long years since my last visit, too long! I can't stop geeking out over the beautiful curved classic Comet station with mag brakes (best of old and new meet, wish other parks noticed!)1 point

Updated entrance, updated coasters restaurant, new entrance signage, new paint schemes on Corkscrew and Mad Mouse and much more. I am excited to see if Wildcat is better1 point

Hi everyone, I need some input. Me and a friend will be flying in this weekend and are looking to go to the park on Sunday. I’m sure it’s going to be packed. Can you recommend which tier of Flash pass we should get? Also how we should maneuver the park in order to maximize our time for such a busy day?1 point

I heard that also from a friend who was there, they said that the part that was done improved the ride overall in their opinion. "The one section is much smoother and the ride seems to have more speed throughout" No clue how true that is, but I'm glad that it got at least one bit of positive review. I'm looking forward to checking out the titan track on predator in a few weeks here too1 point

Also Via Reddit Wolverine Wildcat got a partial GCI titan retract!?1 point

Visited Waldameer yesterday (Sunday May 22) and it was a good visit as usual. The weather was crap as it was constantly drizzling and 57 degrees, but that seemed to keep the crowds away as everything was a walk on. Music Express was down as was Mega Vortex, but all other rides were running. You know this isn't Cedar Point! Ravine Flyer II was AMAZING. Yes, I am biased and have had this ride at or near the top of my rankings since it opened back in 2008. But I don't know if it was the off-season trackwork, the rain or if they put new wheels on the trains, but it was running all out crazy. There's a few spots where the train shakes and jolts, but it's a wooden coaster and that is to be expected. But the speed, airtime and crazy laterals seemed amplified over last season. Definitely a must-ride. Whacky Shack looked good on my first ride as all stunts (including the blinking lights right past the ugly bar lady scene) were working beautifully. On my second ride through, the giant mouse at the end was left in the dark. Weird, and perhaps a little whacky! Pirate's Cove also was in top shape. I honestly got lost in the "jail room" as it seemed really dark in there, and being claustrophobic, I sort of freaked out a bit! I followed the "I ain't got no body" voices and eventually found my way out. I love the final scene of a pirate with his head coming out of a toilet with a flushing sound effect being played. Even at my advanced age, toilet humor still makes me laugh. I rode the train, walked around for a bit and enjoyed the fact that the Gift House had FAR more merchandise than last year, including a boss t-shirt with the old school Waldameer Park and Water World logo on it (which of course I promptly purchased!). One thing I did notice was that, like Knoebels, the ride prices all increased. It looked like the 2 and 3 point rides went up to 2.5 and 3.5 respectively while the 4 and 4.5 point rides went up to 5 and 5.5 points. While that does seem a bit pricey, you do get bonus points for purchasing larger amounts on your Wally Card. Or, you could just pay the approx $40 to ride all day, which if you plan on power riding is probably the way to go. I also saw a "No Single Riders" sign at the Scrambler. I am not sure if that rule has always been in place but as a usual single rider, that is now two rides I can't go on. Mr. Nelson was cruising around in his golf cart so maybe I should have asked, but he really frightens me and I don't want to be one of "those visitors" that complains to the park owner! I didn't stay late to see the new LED's on the Giant Wheel, but I did see the further obstruction of the Carousel as there is a new food stand on the Comet side of the pavilion. Waldameer will always be one of my favorite parks and reading that they have a new "10 year plan" in place makes me excited for the future.1 point

^ Interesting that they're going the buffet route. The California version is quick-service but if you're not using the Disneyland app to order then you're really screwed as you'll probably wait longer to get your food than the line for Radiator Springs Racers. That being said, the food we got there was pretty darn tasty and the size gimmick is used well. I got the PB&J & Banana sammich on Pym Particle bread that also came with a tiny banana smoothie. The ChocoSMASH is more than enough dessert for two people and it comes in a wrapper designed to look like the bar exploded out of it.1 point

We are literally in the car on the way back from kk (we did holiday world on Thursday) and ki for 2 days between can’t really answer your questions. But will give my impression HW on thurs ended up rained out ~1:30 pm. Park closed at 4 pm so we just called it at 3:15 and headed out to Cincinnati. Thunderbird had 1:20 wait when we got there just after park open (no skip the line options) But well worth it I thought voyage had 1:30 minute wait and was so rough. Even Kim said she’s never had that bad of a ride on it and we rode in row 2 ! never got on raven or legend as they are both 1 train ops and the rain came during our queue for legend. so we rode a couple of flats (turkey shooter & hysterically awful nursery rhyme train) before everything shut down completely. the park is beautiful and very much enjoyed walking the whole park even tho everything was closed down some unique flats and stupidly short starflyer too the bumper cars are horses tho! As to KK ? Yeah. I liked it better than HW So I’d agree it’s the superior park. But that’s because I love WTF things. And this park is a massive WTF? its right near the airport and in the convention center complex. So the entrance to the park looks like it’s sitting across from a mall parking lot great selection of unique flats I’d never seen and some WTF rides such as a blimp ride that made me nauseous , a Flying Dutchman where you ride in a shoe, and this musical carousel where you ride the instruments ! no. Really: the coasters are interesting and lightning run is one of a kind But I don’t like ejector air and both it and storm chaser have lots of it (so rode them twice but not high on my list) thunder run looked to have a lot of new wood and tho warned it was rough? Loved it and rode multiple times. My favorite coaster in the park. Kentucky flyer was fun but short with some funky transitions Didn’t ride T3 (NO thank you). But did ride the roller skater - which has a beautiful setting and unique layout I thought GORGEOUS carousel too. Tho sadly in need of a lot of love as the paint is in *bad* shape oh and they have cinnamon bread now too. (And lots of dolly and country music being played thruout the park ) if I can only go to one? I’d go back to kk even tho curious about trying the missed coasters at hw Tho of voyage is the smoothest of the woodies? Prolly good rained out1 point

Went to the park for the first time of the season last Friday and all I can say is... wow. KI has done a lot to improve the atmosphere of the park over the last couple of years, but they've really pulled out all the stops this season shining everything up for the 50th. The Beast retracking has moved it back into my #2 slot at the park (just barely behind Mystic Timbers) and I suspect people will be really impressed with how well it's running now. You can still feel the trims (especially in the shed) but it still feels way faster than ever before, so I really don't mind too much. Racer looks gorgeous in its new paint job, and the GP has clearly responded well to the retracking, since it consistently has a wait now, when it used to almost always be a walk-on. And all of the effects are working on Adventure Express, along with a new lighting package and a repainted track! I also noticed new BGM throughout the park, with an attempt to have appropriate music for each themed area instead of just playing generic pop in each section of the park. I really appreciate all the little details like this that they're focusing on and it seems to be paying off for them. Hopefully they keep making little tweaks and improvements like this to really make KI stand out from other seasonal parks.1 point

Maybe Knoebels will have RMC convert Phoenix just to get people's heads to totally explode. I like Wildcat a lot more than Lightning Racer but neither one has a very inspired layout. Nor do many GCIs, IMO. Maybe RMC could do both at once1 point

Churchill Downs as a facility is what I was suggesting, not a horse race, you wont see a baseball game at the Louisville Slugger museum, KK still has a roller coasters and you are correct about the Ark Encounter. Next time ill try and cater my suggestions to your unknown tastes. Id suggest hitting the Kentucky Bourbon Trail but I assume you dont like that either.1 point

This park is missing a giga. This park is missing an RMC. This park is missing an aquatrax. This park is missing fans.1 point

Six Flags today. With a two-year-old. (almost) Antique cars: ate shit, right? Ferris Wheel: closed. great Carousel: Literally has been being refurbished since my child was within her mother. Shows? Nope. I had no idea the other kids rides had little to no height limits, as long you ride with an adult. At 33" tall we did the boat thing, the balloon thing, the rocket ship thing, the little train thing, and she did the small swings thing. We rode the "big train" she's obsessed with. She was pretty stoked when she yelled "Easter Bunny" and pointed to a statue. I didn't have the heart to tell her it was only Bugs Bunny, so I let her touch it as per her request. (All rabbits have graduated to the Easter Bunny title, in her book, since Easter.) I saw like.. some flowers for the spring thing they have going on. The chicken strips were just out of this world amazing the best chicken strips I've ever had. (Six Flag Corporate's big idea to turn the chain around.) Xcaliber was closed, which would have been cool for my kid to watch... cool. Antique cars and carousel tho... She had a blast, which is all that matters. But... only 3 more inches until it's worth going somewhere else... When we rode the train we saw Hurricane Harbor. Man, it just looks like it's in tip-top shape... They're going all out on the Six Flags New Orleans theming. Our daughter doesn't know the difference, which is all that matters. She rode the "big girl rides" in my book. She even rode the kiddie swings by herself, which was the first of three attempts since she's been on this planet. The most disappointing part of the trip was her wanting to ride Boomerang. As such, we had a blast... and we'll be back to "wide wides" later this year. As an adult, I'm looking forward to seeing the new Eagle area and ride. Although, I doubt we'll go alone anytime within the coming years to experience it. Seriously though... fix the fucking Merry-Go-Round. I'm sure it will be fantastic when the ride is finished, but it really is inexcusable at this point. Sincerely, Karen's Husband1 point

As someone of Irish descent, I feel that putting a Saint Patrick's Day land with a leprechaun coaster into a park that doesn't serve beer is highly offensive.1 point
