  1. Aw sweet jesus forgetting all of the other stupid crap you're arguing about, would you PLEASE for the love of god stop putting "the" in front of the ride names. It's Lightning Rod and Thunderhead. You're not even consistent with its use - That quote alone raises yet more questions about your grammatical ineptitude.

  2. ^Safe move by Idlewild in my opinion. Easier to sort things out based on how much sh*t the fan will spit come opening day. I'm working in a similar situation where we are not selling single-day tickets or committing to a specific operating calendar until we see how the world is doing in a few months. None of the recent restrictions in Pennsylvania would prevent a park from operating by order of the state, but it is simply next to impossible to formally predict anything. If I were to personally attempt to predict anything for 2021, I see things getting a little better, but better only in comparison to an unmitigated disaster that was 2020.

  3. Noelle Stevenson recently did too (although she did not change her name, and said that any/all pronouns will continue to be acceptable to her). if you're not familiar, Noelle does the amazing "Lumberjanes" comic book, as well as the "She-Ra" animated show. her announcement of top surgery on twitter was hysterical. . .

  4. This was just announced in the news. The artist, formerly known as Ellen Page, is now known as... https://ca.yahoo.com/news/elliot-page-transgender-174401611.html I was quite surprised by this. I have always enjoyed him in his previous movies. We've also enjoyed him in the recent Netflix series, "The Umbrella Academy." Great stuff. All the same, good for him to 'come out' in his own way and time, and feel very happy about it.

  5. I'm so terribly sad to hear this about Josh. I had no idea he was in such a serious battle. Never wanted to pry when he pm'd me regarding things on the forum. I will forever remember how kind he was to my son and all the help he gave him in getting his first job. He also took the time to message me and let me know how the interview went and reassure me that he was doing well on his first days working. To those in the know, please do let us know if there will be a place to post a message to his family or if there is an organization they are requesting donations for in his name.

  6. ^ I showed some pictures in my class to my high elementary/low middle schoolers and some of them have that game. It's easy as enthusiasts to focus on the Mario Kart ride but as one of the elementary students said 'You get to ride a Yoshi!' And yeah he's got a point.

  7. ^ Don't tell them that. I genuinely think they're that passionate about it they would waste the parks time sending emails to them with their signed petition. And if this thread has taught me anything else (apart from people really care about the ratio of wood:steel) during 2020 is that Dollywood already has an overflowing inbox.

  8. You guys should start a petition for our entertainment. Sincerely, The Zach

  9. ... and as long as the ride actually operates for a change

  10. ^ Dude tell them to destroy that stage in front of YOLO and repurpose the lighting on the actual ride.

  11. Please, for the love of all things good and holy, learn how to multi-quote.

  12. Get over it man. You've made your point and we get it; it's silly that this park did not do a Winterfest-lite. Make the 8 hour drive to KD if you want to experience that, just like all of us with KD as our home park had to drive out to KI or CP this summer to get some use of our Platinum Passes. Be happy KI had most of a mostly-normal season this year. Or go bitch on the park's FB page; you'll find more like-minded individuals there.

  13. ^ You're being overly critical of a ride that hasn't even had a human on it yet. Reserve your judgement until you ride the darn thing.

  14. Careful now, we all know that COVID is a totally serious thing that has nothing to do with politics at all.

  15. You might as well just wait until after the election.

  16. I was just in northern Michigan for the 4th and life is back to normal up there. Crowded beaches for fireworks, crowded sandbars in lakes. The number of masks I saw was less than 10. I think I’m going to wait until August to see how everything is going, and maybe I’ll visit some parks in the Midwest that don’t require masks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  17. ^ We were just in the dells. Not a mask in sight anywhere. Mt Olympus and the whole town of the Dells was slammed and everything was fully open and normal and no one had mask on. It was great

  18. I honestly don’t know what to believe anymore. I went to the doctor because I was getting headaches out of nowhere, he said it was most likely because I was wearing a mask all day while working my summer job. So I switched to a shield at work and I’m not getting headaches anymore.. He also said there are smaller particles that the mask won’t stop and because of that it’s basically useless against the virus. And he sent me a link to a scientific journal article explaining it all. What I could understand (those can be hard reads) made sense. So honestly like I said I don’t know what to believe. I do think the mask was the source of my headaches so I won’t be visiting any parks where you have to wear it. So now I have to decide if I want to stay home or visit parks that don’t require a mask like Indiana Beach, a place I’ve been wanting to visit for a while now... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  20. You do realize that wearing a mask and social distancing is not going to get rid of the virus. It might help slow it down but it will never be gone. A vaccine will help but until all people are exposed to the virus and build up anti bodies to it the virus it is here to stay. Infected cases go up everyday but the death toll also drops everyday. The media only wants us to believe the doom and gloom. If you are not comfortable being around people without masks on then stay at home. If I get it then I get it. I'm not going to hide in my house from it or wear gloves and masks if I have to go out any wear. Everyone is entitled to there own opinion on whats best for them. Lets all be happy the park is still open so we can all keep enjoying.

  21. This is such fucking bullshit. You are either outright lying just because you don't want to wear a mask or you are so sick that you probably shouldn't be going to a park in the first place. Seriously please... I beg of you... STOP POSTING TO OUR FORUM!!! I honestly cannot take any more of your insane stupidity. You literally are the dumbest person on the forum right now. Mask don't do much, stop getting your titties twisted over stupid stuff, mask are security theater and really don't do much, if you're that concerned about a virus don't go to a busy theme park, that is really the only effective way to ensure no exposure to COVID19 (however most of the population is not at risk and will be fine). Mask policy's are the work of permission to open by the state, most park operators do not have the money or time to deal with enforcing such policy. Expect mask-less faces at parks. Also for anyone who wears a mask while driving you look stupid, you're also risking heat stroke or passing out while driving a vehicle which isn't good for anyone on the road.

  22. Wow. You're trying pretty hard to make lemonade. Ouch. I just texted his phone the other day. His parents have been replying back on his status for the past couple months. Emily and I were concerned. We knew things were bad. Really sucks. He's the only coaster dude I've ever met up with. We texted regularly. I'm going to miss our conversations. Thanks for the update. I'd been trying not to blow his phone up too much, because I didn't want to bother his parents.

  24. Very sad news about Josh. Always so positive about the park and it's future. I have missed his posts over the past year. Now the world and SFStL have lost another bright light. I'll definitely keep Josh's family in my thoughts and prayers. Please post any links to information about donations or memorials.

  25. That's really heartbreaking, he had so much passion for his work and truly wanted to have a positive impact at the parks he worked for. It's a big loss, and my heart goes out to those close to him. RIP Josh. *pours out refillable souvenir cup*

  26. I don't even know how to say this because I just can't even believe it... It is with heavy heart to say that Josh (HWFan) passed away today after a lengthy battle. This young man was such an amazing person, not just in the amusement industry... for anyone who had ever met him, he was so incredibly smart, kind, warm, and enthusiastic. Please keep Josh's family in your prayers.
