Jason Maier
Another visit to HITP today for me (and yes . . . Roar in colder weather is a GREAT ride; and I'd assume that applies to any GCI woody) And yes . . . I decided to flex with Daffy and Tweety Posing time . . . . steamedturtle
Went to HitP today, and I agree with everything that's been said about it. It's a fun time, and you barely notice that Gotham City isn't open. The park's open for 7 hours, and for a majority of those hours, it's really dark. That combined with the relative cold makes for a unique experience. The park was crowded and lively, but the waits for rides were negligible. Today was the first time I roar Roar in 10 years, and it's running so great. Every bit as good, if not better, than it was in 2007. Wild One is running pretty well, but a few of my rides had some very uncomfortable bumps. Mind Eraser is better than Apocalypse, and that's insane. Voodoo drop packs a punch, and runs so quickly. The larson loop is a bit nauseating, probably won't ride again. And finally, RC was very fun, but only rode it once because it consistently had the longest line. Might head back before the year is up to get some more night rides on Roar. Here's some pictures mostly of the lights, which were great.
TBpony414
What's going on in that second to last picture? Some kind of show?
coasterbill
Great report!!! Wild One is running pretty well, but a few of my rides had some very uncomfortable bumps. Wild One is great, but it can REALLY beat the hell out of you in the wrong seat. We only ride it in non wheel seats (so the middle row of any car) or in the front row. What's going on in that second to last picture? Some kind of show? Six Flags America actually has 2 "major" holiday shows which is cool since Great Adventure and New England really only have one. That's an elf stunt show that's actually really fun. it's corny as hell and the cast consists of 4 people total, but we really enjoyed it.
djackson
Has the park released some concept art for the new Lazy River yet? I'm confused about how big of a project this is considering they haven't started yet.
Highridin
Not really an answer to your question, but the permit is filed.
MisterBrow
Do you remember how long it took to install WWLoT? That was a relatively easy install. That Lazy River will fit its lazy name and open in time for it to be too cold to use. From the website:12/16- Show your Samsung smartphone & enjoy exclusive ride time after the park closes! Samsung smartphone owners can enjoy exclusive ride time for a half hour after the park closes on December 2 and December 16. To participate, all you have to do is show your Samsung smartphone at the event table in the park on event day to receive your event wristband.* I just think it is hysterical that people will be boarding with the wristband and therefore boarding the ride with their phone since the park doesn't have fluffy bunnies and medicine goo. SLCHeadache
Nobody? Looks like Six Flags America has joined the other parks affected by the cold, and made Saturday the 30th the last day of operation for the season.

Highridin
Yes, I flipped through. Quite a bit of improvements. Here is the link:
ericthewanderer
Although it's not the same as a new custom coaster, the list of improvements is appreciated and desperately needed(considering the age of the wave pool and Zoomazon Falls).Hopefully the "backstage upgrades" includes restrooms near S:ROS/Batwing and a walkway connecting Gotham to Coyote Creek. steamedturtle
I think if you really, really, really temper your expectations, there's quite a bit to be pleased about. The investments and improvements have been steady and positive. While the additions have been extremely conservative, I think the park is on the rise. A 24% increase in rides given is impressive, and I'd bet that there's a positive correlation to increased margins. I also think the seasonal events are a good, cheap way to increase revenue. Anecdotally, HitP seemed like a huge hit! I'll be interested to see the park's financials when the 2017 report comes out. Maybe if they keep this up, we'll see a new coaster within 5 years. But I doubt we'll ever see a path connecting Coyote Creek and Gotham City. A bathroom and some trees over by SRoS and Batwing would be amazing though. edit: I also liked these 2 slides

coasterbill
A 24% increase in rides given is impressive, and I'd bet that there's a positive correlation to increased margins That's honestly an insane number from 2016 to 2017. If it were the previous year it would stand to reason with the addition of Holiday in the Park, but it's hard to chalk this up to much of anything other than a likely jump in attendance and possibly more efficient ride crews. Great job!
Jason Maier
I'm very pleased with the increase in rides. I do recall the ride op would typically say "This train will be leaving in 30 seconds" . . . . .
Highridin
Having gone to this park for years, I can honestly say that lines, when there were lines, moved relatively fast.

Great job! Just think, they can duplicate that increase next year just by swapping the trains on Mind Eraser because so many flat out skip it. djackson
I don't know if y'all realized this but if they really wanted to open up a path from the creek to Gotham, there isn't much they'd have to do. The path is practically there already. They would just have to invest in fencing around Superman.

The path is practically there already. They would just have to invest in fencing around Superman. The mythical path. "The Path That Was Promised". People have been talking about them doing this since 2000.
boldikus
I'll never understand the obsession with opening up another path back there. Are you guys talking about them doing something like this? So that would save about maybe a minute of walking as opposed to the current path through Wild One? Unless the park was adding something (or more likely a few things to justify basically adding an area with a whole new path) back there, they have absolutely no reason to do this anytime soon. There are still places around the park they could add things, especially in Gotham. These types of decisions are based on if the park is going to benefit financially from it, not because a bunch of whiny enthusiasts are too lazy to walk a whole extra minute. djackson
^ Nah the path we refer to would make SFA a complete loop instead of the jumbled up mess it is now. It would run from the path that is cut off between Mind Eraser and Renegade Rapids. The path would extend through Superman and end near Batwing.
