Timmyuk
I am from the UK and thinking of visiting the US, i'm not going to have the time or the money to travel about to lots of parks, so i wanted to know what park (maybe a few parks if there are a few close together somewhere) would you visit? Whats the best basically?
kenshinmac
Well personally if I had one park it would probably be Cedar Point... It is amazing in a great location and has a lot to do... There are also a few other parks in the area which wouldn't be too bad to get to. Of course then there is Holiday World's Voyage... Man that looks amazing... Of course there is also the Dells which I have been told has tons of stuff including Mt Olympus and other coasters and waterparks. Could be a good location too... Well then there is Florida... Hmm... I'm not much help...
Timmyuk
Thats my problem, you guys are spoilt for choice and the US is a big place, Busch Gardens was a choice. but Tatsu (at the coaster capital of the world i heard) looks good and so does Kingda Ka if its working. Bob O
If i had to pick one park it would be The Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World in FLA at is has a great atmopshere with great rides and the bext overall experience. I think visiting Orlando FLA would be the best place to go as you can choose between 4 different Disney parks, 2 Universal Parks and Busch Gardens Tampa is only a couple of hours away and you can get shuttle service back and forth. And think that area offer the best parks that are real close together which makes for easy/cheap travel. Other parts of the US may have beter coaster combinations but the distance you travel will be longer.
WildMouse
I'm thinking that Florida would be best for those on a budget. World class parks/attractions in close proximity, good package deals off peak etc. Or how about a few days at Cedar Point. All depends on what your budget/timescale is really... CoasterCrazy
I would recommend visiting the parks in Florida. You could spend a week visiting the parks in Florida: Sea World BGA aka BGT UF/IOA Old Town WDW (All the parks) Cypress Gardens
Timmyuk
Sounds like Florida it is then, but thats what everybody does and six flags magic mountain looks so good though, even including car park Coasters (i am oddly interested to what thats like) Decisions Decisions

alpengeist04
I agree, Florida would be your best bet. How can you beat IOA, USF and BGT all within 75 to 90 mins.
okinawaboy11
Cedar Point. Although I go every summer. Still I love it.

I know you all have a valid point, stick to Florida, if i have more time and cash go further out to more parks, you have so many and i have been to so few, Busch Gardens being one of them but when i was only about 12 years old, bit different experience for me now i expect. Milkchan
Honestly if your looking for some good coasters go to ohio because you have Cedar Point and Geuga Lake which is about an hour away, and Paramounts Kings Island is about 3 hours away from Geuga Lake. ECZenith
You said evereyone does Flroida... Why not try out the N.E. coast... Six Flags New England (home of the best coaster in the world... see avatar) Lake Compounce, Canobie Lake, then head south for Dorney, Hershey and Six Flags Great Adventure. (Kingda Ka is cool but not worth an entire trip...) All that's within 6 hrs of eachother.
shepp
To narrow it back down to the original "what one park"... If coasters are your be-all and end-all, CP and MM are the obvious choices, though most here would give the edge to CP. But if you're looking for the overall park experience, I'd say IOA. Not only is the theming terrific, there are, in addtion to 2 (or 3, depending) topflight B&Ms, a number of attractions and experiences that are utterly unique to IOA....Spiderman, DDRR, and Bluto's Barges, for instance, as well as the amazing Lost Continent and Seuss Island theming...while lots of the best of WDW is also at DLP, across the Channel from you. Honestly, if someone said "You can only go to one more park for the rest of your life," I'd choose IOA...and USF is a 10-minute walk away. And they always seem to have better deals (at least for non-Floridians) than WDW.

apollo210
I agree with the northeast coast. Over the winter I started reaserching parks and I found all of the parks near by me! Also all the parks seem good. I can't wait to go to Canobie Lake park this summer .
dougr
Just to throw in my two cents worth, if you visit Southern California, you can visit Los Angeles and Orange County. There's a Southern California Citypass that gets you 3 days at Disneyland/DCA, 1 day at Universal Studios, 1 day at SeaWorld San Diego and 1 day at San Diego Zoo or Wild Animal Park. Plus Magic Mountain is only a couple of hours drive away and there's other studio tours and you can check out the hookers at Hollywood and Vine. downunder
If it had to be one - Cedar Point for me, it doesn't have the no. 1 in my opinion of any coaster type but it does have many great coasters, and it is a great place to stay in terms of atmosphere and location. Electerik
I am from the UK and thinking of visiting the US, i'm not going to have the time or the money to travel about to lots of parks, so i wanted to know what park (maybe a few parks if there are a few close together somewhere) would you visit? Whats the best basically? Well...Orange County, California has three great parks within 5 or 6 miles of each other: Disneyland, Disney's California Adventure, and Knott's Berry Farm. Plus, some other pretty cool stuff within about a 2-hour drive, including SFMM (which I'm not too fond of--but it sounds like that's where you really want to go), Universal Studios Hollywood, SeaWorld San Diego, Legoland California and Belmont. Sort of on the far side from the UK, though....
doom1001
Since you've never been in the U.S, you have to start with the Florida parks. You can't go wrong with 4 Disney parks, Universal , Islands of Adventure, Sea World and Busch Gardens Tampa. Then save your money and come back in 2-3 years and do Cedar Point and a couple of east coast parks like Busch Gardens Williamsburg. Then a couple years later go to the California Parks. This way you always have a future trip in the plans to look forward to. DATman
Holiday World. I've been to Florida (would love to go again), I've done CP, and I live by DL/SFMM/Knotts. I'd like to go to a nice, smaller park, with the best woodie coming out this year!
Three
If you're looking for shere theme park density, the only two options are Southern California and Florida. SoCal is gonna have more coasters pound for pound, if that's what you're looking for. Quality-wise, you can't beat Central Florida though. But really, I can't imagine you not having fun with either. Do your own thing. Decide for yourself -- research all the parks you'd potentially be hitting and decide which look most appealing to you. And really, I doubt you'd have many regrets either way. Do what looks good to you, man.
jamesdillaman
Cedar Point hands down, I'd stay away from california, crowds at CP will be much better, plus you won't get shot and/or mugged in downtown Sandusky (If you do, I'll eat my hat!). Cedar Point will have the most coasters at any theme park (Running coasters, SFMM fanboys!!) and I enjoy staying at Sandcastle or even out at Breakers Express. Good value and you get to ride 1 coaster before the park officially opens if you stay there. You can hit up Geauga Lake, too if you fly in/out of Cleveland. -James
Timmyuk
Thats lots of information guys thank you very much, i have been to Florida but not since 1992 when i was 12. As you can imagine I am keen not to be mugged or shot on my trip, that type of excitment is just not for me. I think i will go to Florida, its been so long it will be a new experience anyway and interesting to see if i remember anything, plus hopefully i wont get mugged or shot there Plus Sheikra looks good, i really like Oblivion at Alton Towers and this looks bigger and better (not that bigger and better is always the case)
