Shockwave Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 Dave on CF has posted a link to something which many thought would never happen! http://www.accessniagara.com/blog/index.php/2006/04/19/marineland_dragon_mountain_progress The ride's volcano has been a skeleton for a long time, but now it looks like it's being finished.
SharkTums Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 LOL! Too Little, Too Late! Unless they have Canadians on fire inside the volcano it won't improve the ride at all. (Sorry Bill and Paul!)
DarkStitch626 Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 LOL! Too Little, Too Late! Unless they have Canadians on fire inside the volcano it won't improve the ride at all. (Sorry Bill and Paul!) Elissa.. What about Nicole LOL she lives close to it. LOL! Atleast they are finally doing something to the snooze fest helix(people have called it that)
niiicolaaah Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 ^^Canadians on fire... that is an EXCELLENT idea!!!!!! ^I call it the Helix of Nothingness. I think Marineland's money would be better spent on building more rides so I don't have to walk 10 miles in between them. Or, like, on building the Topple Tower. Anyone heard anything about that lately??? I have a sneaking suspicion it will be ready for opening day... 2009. EDIT: This better not mean DM is going to be closed when I visit!!!
Nrthwnd Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 Point taken Elissa - but it's really more Paul and Nicole's "problem" - HAH! It'll be quite the while before I ever get my butt over thataways near The Falls. Nice to see they're FINALLY (maybe) taking care of some 'late themeing' etc. It's a nice coaster from what I remember seeing, in vids. Hopefully that plastic "wrap" isn't all they're going to do, hmm? ("Canadians on fire" - phfffft. And you've just jinxed it Nic - now DM will be closed when you arrive, bwa hah hah!)
socalMAN123 Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 Haha, a little bit late folks. I really don't think it will add anything to the ride unless they add some hot burning fire on the inside like they do on V:TBC. Then it would be cool. ---Brent
niiicolaaah Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 ^^ It's more my problem than Paul's. I live 5 miles from Marineland "as the crow flies".
Shockwave Posted April 22, 2006 Author Posted April 22, 2006 ^^ It's more my problem than Paul's. I live 5 miles from Marineland "as the crow flies". Do you think the crows would acutally fly straight to Marineland? I'm sure they much rather go to Canada's Wonderland!
mightypotato Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 Do you think the crows would acutally fly straight to Marineland? I'm sure they much rather go to Canada's Wonderland! Well, they'd probably get the credit, catch a whale show, then go to Canada's Wonderland. That's assuming of course that crows are credit whores.
PhishyBrewer Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 This was like the second coaster I ever rode. I was like 11 or something. From what I remeber it was a pretty bad ass coaster. I also remember my parents getting divorced right after that trip.
Darien Laker Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 That was my first roller coaster. I was about 7 I think. I remember getting my head banged around a lot, but it was still fun I think. I wish I knew what a Bowtie element was back then, I really would have appreciated it more....
niiicolaaah Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 The last time I was at Marineland, I rode Dragon Mountain 23 times. That was ten years ago. I'm sure not much has changed about the park since the last time I was there. (My second most rides-in-a-day was Viper at SFDL, 19 times. Also in 7th grade. Man, I was an Arrow-lover in middle school. Maybe that's why I never found either to be particularly head bashing.) EDIT: Tom, crows would most definitely hit up Marineland for the 2 credits, cause they are most definitely credit whores.
Carnage Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 Interesting. Is it only the volcano? Because even then it wouldn't be finished. There'd still be that giant set of steel girders that was supposed to be a scale model of niagara falls.
Movieguy Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 Ack! bandwidth limit exceeded! I remember reading in this old book about all this cool themeing Dragon Mountain was going to have, and here I was thinking it was never gonna happen.
waterviper Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 Could these crows be carrying coconuts? What a crow carrying coconuts? It could grip it by the husk. It's not a question of where he grips it, it's a simple matter of weight ratios... a crow could not hold a one-pound coconut! Look to maintain velocity a crow needs to beat its wings four hundred and ninety-three times every second right? .......Wait a minute suppose two crows carried it together!! No they would have to have it on a line!!! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ^Some of you will know what I am talkin about here!!!
trustkill22 Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 When is this going to happen because bandwith has exceeded and this summer im going to Marineland for free with my dads company and I really want to go on the helix of nothing. Weird, I actually want to go on a helix of nothing.
niiicolaaah Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 I wish they would have just left it alone. I have a feeling it's going to end up looking cheesy.
cprocks22 Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 That was supposed to be the skeleton for a volcano??? I hope it looks ok, i like the park, especially that it never has lines
timetrial3141592 Posted April 23, 2006 Posted April 23, 2006 ^^What, held under the dorsal guiding fearthers?
Carnage Posted April 24, 2006 Posted April 24, 2006 Got a chance to see the pics posted on screamscape. I gotta say it looks pretty cheesy. I'll reserve full judgement for when I actually ride it though. Though from the outside it doesn't really look all that good. If it took this long why even bother finishing it? It's not like anyone really cares. Marineland's customers don't even know that their "largest coaster" advertisement is false, they definetly wouldn't notice the new themeing.
cfc Posted April 24, 2006 Posted April 24, 2006 ^^Canadians on fire... that is an EXCELLENT idea!!!!!! My donuts are stale, And my beer ain't cold, Canadians on flame With rock and roll! A thousand mounties, Begin to fry, There ain't no back bacon, Up in the sky! With my apologies to Blue Oyster Cult--and to our friends up north.
niiicolaaah Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 ^^Heck, I practically live next door to the thing, and I didn't know about the missing theming until this year. I agree, it looks stupid. It looks like the same material as the ram's head (the ram's head is AWESOME). They need to like, make it look dirty... or fiery... or.. something. I have a bad feeling that the "falls mockup" is going to be made of the same material, painted blue.
DerekRx Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 Hooray! The event I've been waiting for is finally happening. I told myself I wouldn't ride Dragon Mountain until it was finished with its soft opening phase and went into full operation. It looks like my chance may finally be coming. I'll be watching those e-savers to Buffalo now!
Carnage Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 ^ But is it going to be finished?? I wouldn't be all that surprised if they finished the volcano, but left the waterfall alone. But if they finished the waterfall that would blow me away. Too bad Marineland isn't cheap though. I'll probably have to go there though to see this with my own eyes.
