alpengeist04 Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 Wow, those claws could do some serious damage. ...Looks great.
DJeXeL Posted January 11, 2012 Posted January 11, 2012 Rumor has it that Wild Eagle's trains have arrived..... Dollywood is teasing on their Twitter page Edit - Trains have arrived. Source: Egg To Eagle Looks like trains were delivered with a mixture of nylon and poly-urethane wheels. Safe to assume B&M will be doing some testing to determine which wheels gives the proper speed for the layout.
Hilltopper39 Posted January 12, 2012 Posted January 12, 2012 Trains looks nice, but did anyone see the pictures of the WIngrider trains for Swarm at Thorpe? OMFG they look amazing! Hope the trains for Wild Eagle somehow halfway compare to those!
DJeXeL Posted January 12, 2012 Posted January 12, 2012 ^Can't go wrong with a train that has a giant eagle in front!
dragonskeep Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 That statue is one of the coolest parts of the ride so far. It's gonna look incredible by the ride.
vacoaster09 Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 (edited) Saw these photos on this Website ... One Word.. AMAZING! However, I don't think it's the same statue. http://coastercommunity.altervista.org/community/viewtopic.php?f=45&t=1595&p=35830#p35830 http://coastercommunity.altervista.org/community/viewtopic.php?f=45&t=1595&p=35830#p35830 http://coastercommunity.altervista.org/community/viewtopic.php?f=45&t=1595&p=35830#p35830 http://coastercommunity.altervista.org/community/viewtopic.php?f=45&t=1595&p=35830#p35830 http://coastercommunity.altervista.org/community/viewtopic.php?f=45&t=1595&p=35830#p35830 http://coastercommunity.altervista.org/community/viewtopic.php?f=45&t=1595&p=35830#p35830 Edited January 17, 2012 by vacoaster09
coasterfreaky Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 ^^ Yeah, it's not the Dollywood statue, but it is equally impressive! You can see the claws are closed in this version and the Dollywood statue used steel that will rust for the brown feathers...this one looks like it's almost entirely polished. Very very cool.
Real Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 Is it the same guy though? Long as it is, I assume itll look very similar. That is a BEAUTIFUL sculpture. Wow. I hope they polish theirs. Cant wait to get my camera lenses on this ride...
SharkTums Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 I think they should polish it up and turn it to just the right angle against the sun so that it can bake the Cinnamon Bread fresh for us!
BeemerBoy Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 Since that's apparently not the Dollywood one, is this guy a self-contained assembly line for 40 foot wide steel eagles now? I didn't realize there was a booming market for these.

Thom25 Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 Are you sure they are not the same? They seem to be made by the same guy, who in an earlier video said he had a lot of work to do to make the deadline. Could the first one be the retracted sculpture for transportation with the second set being a fully assemble sculpture that we'll see at the park? I know the claws are very different between the two sets of pictures, and thought/think they could be adjustable, just like the wings. Looking at the second set of pictures, I can't image how you would transport that beast without making some major adjustments.
BeemerBoy Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 ^ Yeah, what strikes me about it is the original press release. Seems to me, if they're not the same, then the "one-of-a-kind" claim would be null and void. Or am I missing something here? Wild Eagle Makes History History will be made when Dollywood's Wild Eagle, the first steel wing coaster in America, takes flight in March 2012. To accompany this historic ride, Dollywood will unveil the country's largest flying eagle steel sculpture, too. This one-of-a-kind piece of art will feature a horizontal wing span equal to a four-story building and weigh more than four tons. Visit Dollywood on YouTube for the exclusive video that takes you inside sculptor Kevin Stone's British Columbia studio for a first-ever glimpse into the making of this massive work of art. Be the first to see yet another leg of this incredible journey toward the opening of Wild Eagle at Dollywood!
Skycoastin Steve Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 I wonder how much money this guy is making off this sculpture?
coasterfreaky Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 I get the one-of-a-kind. Since they are "works of art" and were not born from the "eagle statue maker 3000" then they are each unique....aka one-of-a-kind No falsehoods here. He could make a thousand of them and they still be one-of-a-kind.
chargersmichael Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 Wow...Dollywood is truely one of the best theme parks. The experience of this ride is already going to be amazing and now with superior theming!!! I can't believe they made that...now how are they going to get that to the park?
ernierocker Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 I wonder how much money this guy is making off this sculpture? It is mentioned somewhere in this thread, but I believe it is like $150K
coasterfreaky Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 ^^a large truck. The wings come off...maybe other parts too. I think they said it would arrive at Dollywood for installation in February.

He could make a thousand of them and they still be one-of-a-kind. Yep, I get the whole "artistic angle" argument. Still, to me, it's playing a bit fast and loose with the term. Of course maybe he actually will transform himself into "eagle statue maker 3000," similar to "Eiffel Tower Maker 3000," since that's a true "one-of-a-kind" thing as well?
coasterfreaky Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 You know how those marketing/PR people are. Word and phrase embellishment is their thing! Either way, it's (they're) beautiful. Hurry up March!
BeemerBoy Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 I agree. Either way, I'm looking forward to seeing the "first-of-its-kind" steel eagle sculpture at Dollywood!
