Chittlins Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 The splash battle I think. Herschend's splash battles are Preston and Barbeiri built.
ernierocker Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 (edited) Interesting. Dollywood went to Gardaland to tour Raptor before Wild Eagle opened so this isn't unprecedented if true. Edited April 15, 2013 by ernierocker
coasterfreaky Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 I was at the park on Friday. Great day. Everything was a walk on or a 5 minute wait. Adventure Mtn is slowly coming down. I didn't see any signs of anything new in Wildnerness Pass. Down in the Rivertown, a former "Hosts Only" path is now open to the public. It's easy to miss. It's to the immediate left of the corn dog and tater twirl vendor, and it passes along the river rampage ride, and goes under the train to the Country Fair near the ferris wheel. It's not as hilly as the other passage. Anyway, pictures! This area will change soon! april 12, 2013 april 12, 2013 New path entrance...to/from County Fair path entrance new views of rampage ride rampage lift hill "new" path. It was for hosts only. Bonus non-Dolly pic: This is the new wheel at the Island of Pigeon Forge development. Opens in May or June i think. Bonus non-Dolly pic: wheel at Island of Pigeon Forge dvpt.
coasterfreaky Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 The splash battle I think. Herschend's splash battles are Preston and Barbeiri built. Actually they are both made by Mack. The P&B splash battles are the ones that ride above the water on rails...which is weird to me.
BeemerBoy Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 It's still incredibly disappointing to see Adventure Mountain sacrificed, even if it is in the name of overall progress for the park. A real shame for such a uniquely themed family attraction in a great location.

SDC's was delayed from the 08 recession and spike in the Euro which made their version more expensive than Dollywood's.

MythMaker Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 Maybe they are looking at a ride like the new Manta at Sea World San Diego.. that was a Mack launched coaster.
Chittlins Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 Still not convince by wiki: http://www.themeparkinsider.com/flume/200802/602/
coasterfreaky Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 Still not convince by wiki: http://www.themeparkinsider.com/flume/200802/602/ Look dude, i'm not going to argue. It's a Mack.
Wes Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 Mack features River Battle in their gallery for Interactive Boat Rides. That should settle this "debate". http://www.mack-rides.com/en/products/water-rides/interactive-boat-ride/wr-ibr-picture-gallery/index.html
COASTER FREAK 11 Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 LOL, I love when people quote a Wiki page as a 'source'. Used created material is never reliable, hahaha.
coasterfreaky Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 LOL, I love when people quote a Wiki page as a 'source'. Used created material is never reliable, hahaha. So, am i right or wrong?
netdvn Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 LOL, I love when people quote a Wiki page as a 'source'. Used created material is never reliable, hahaha. Unless the source isn't cited (which it was in the article). Accompanying attractions in this area include the Adventure Mountain obstacle/ropes course, with four different courses offering differing levels of difficulty and challenge, and the River Battle, the first Splash Battle ride in the US built by Mack. Dollywood Pete Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 The splash battle I think. Herschend's splash battles are Preston and Barbeiri built. RiverBattle is a Mack ride. It was the first "water battle" ride by Mack in the US.
Chittlins Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 The splash battle I think. Herschend's splash battles are Preston and Barbeiri built. RiverBattle is a Mack ride. It was the first "wattle" ride by Mack in the US. I found that link also at screamscape that states it's a Mack. Everything else I had found besides wiki pointed to it being a 3dba/pb. Not that easy to find anything conclusive via the googles.
Chroniq Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 ^Via Wes's previous comment... The actual ride at Dollywood is featured on Mack's website.. Case Closed. Chittlins, you are wrong.
ernierocker Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 (edited) I found that link also at screamscape that states it's a Mack. Everything else I had found besides wiki pointed to it being a 3dba/pb. Not that easy to find anything conclusive via the googles. Please drop it. The Director of Media Relations at Dollywood had just said it was Mack. RiverBattle is a Mack ride. It was the first "water battle" ride by Mack in the US. Edited April 15, 2013 by ernierocker
Chroniq Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 ^Didn't realize who Dollywood Pete was ...Pete, we visited your park on opening weekend. It was AMAZING, as usual. -chris "hat tip" con.
dstephe9 Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 If it's pretty I plan on heading to Dollywood this weekend! I would like to catch the last weekend of the festival of nations. Opening weekend was so drab (freezing an rain) that I only spent 4 hours in the park.. I plan on all day Saturday
Vonni Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 According to Screamscape, the 2014 attraction is confirmed to be a coaster. Just not sure as to what kind yet. But it is confirmed it is not a Mack.

ernierocker Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 Let's be real careful here in our choice of words. First off, here is the exact wording of the Screamcape update: Semi-Confirmed - (4/17/13) Time to play Good News / Bad News. First the good news... Screamscape sources have confirmed to me that Dollywood’s next attraction is indeed a “coaster”. As for the bad news... it’s not going to be a Mack Rides Blue Fire style coaster... and unfortunately, I’m still a bit in the dark about just what kind of coaster they are getting, so stay tuned! His "sources" confirmed it, not someone with the park confirmed it. It may very well be a coaster, but let's not take things out of context and raise false hope before we hear something official from Dollywood.
