HartmannHunter22 Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 Video of what to expect(this is from Six Flags over Texas, not St. Louis)[youtu_be] [/youtu_be] Ok. I have to say, with this POV, I want to ride JLBM more than ever. The video screens did look a tad bit ehh, but who knows how real it is gonna look as a finished product. I feel this ride is going to meet expectations, if not go above. This video showed, that in the ride you might become more connected with the charachters and think you really are in this "Battle for Metropolis" than maybe you expected. Hopefully all goes well with mechanics and loading/unloading and que times, and the ride becomes an amazing feature to the park. Extremely exited. Also, I think im going to make a trip out to Worlds of Fun while I particicpate in State Cup in KC. Any resturaunts I have to visit while I am there or anything to look our for? Thanks.
HWFan Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 I can say that at least the vast majority of the animation/video portions of the ride that are shown in that video are not the actual ride. It'd be like watching a 3D movie without the glasses, so they just edited some parts in there. Also, is you've ridden any similar ride, you know that the motion of the vehicle and the 3D aspect is what really makes the ride.
ytterbiumanalyst Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 I just looked at the contest to be the first to ride JLBFM on May 28th, and it contains an important piece of info I hadn't seen before: the height requirement is 42". Good to know. You may not know, but is the ride requirement straight-up 42", or is there a lower limit if riding with a parent? Our youngest is 39" right now.

All I know what the contest page said, which is, in its entirety: "Riders MUST be a minimum of 42” tall and accompanied by a rider 14 years or older." That would seem to imply that the height requirement is 42", period. HWFan?

What stood out to me was the one shot showing a really big screen that looked just as impressively big as the larger screens in IoA Spider-Man!

ytterbiumanalyst Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 ^ Thanks, good to know. We'll be employing the parent swap, then.
SFStl Fan Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 Any word yet on whether or not there will be a special "preview" event for Gold Pass holders and All Pass Holders?
ArizonaGuy Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 ^ Haven't seen anything about it yet but based on the feedback I've seen from SFoT, it looks like SFStL is going to have a winner to deal with!
TexasParkman Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 I live 5 miles from SFOT. Our Gold season pass holder preview is Thursday and regular season pass holder preview day is Friday- weather permitting..
ArizonaGuy Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 ^ SFStL hasn't established that since I believe they are still in testing mode. SFoT tested with Sally first and now the team is in StLouis getting the ride set up. I'm sure it'll be coming up soon. Hopefully before the beginning of June so they have a little more than a week to go.
MikeC65 Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 Courtesy of Theme Park Insider, POV of the entire ride (SFoT version). To HWFan, Dave Roemer, and everyone at Six Flags, allow me to extend my most sincere apologies for ever having doubted you. With the actual video, this DOES look fully the equal of anything at Universal. I'm amazed. Now, when does it open?
ArizonaGuy Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 With most of the attractions set to open on time as advertised this year, it looks like we're dealing with a new Six Flags. The new attractions this year look absolutely amazing even if some of them are just Super Loops. I have a feeling we're going to be seeing many good things from Six Flags in the coming years.
ThemeParkJunkie51290 Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 Six Flags in general is a great company. I've never had any complaints. Who knows, with the new dark ride opening and all the reviews are sounding great from Texas, Six Flags might outshine Disney.
Woodie Warrior Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 I was trying to avoid spoiling the ride by not watching the POV, but I couldn't resist. All I can say is WOW! This ride is far better than anything I expected. The last screens do look to be curved, and the cars go right up to them. I can't wait to experience this thing in person.
Sneetch2 Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 This looks amazing. I really think six flags has a win with this one. I hope they bring this to more parks!
MikeC65 Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 Six Flags in general is a great company. I've never had any complaints. Who knows, with the new dark ride opening and all the reviews are sounding great from Texas, Six Flags might outshine Disney. No chance. It's a perfectly fair thing to do to compare the ride experience of JLBFM with Transformers or Spider-Man at Universal Orlando. The similar ride systems and ride experience invite the comparison. But comparing the entire experience of the parks is just plain silly. One similar ride does not a similar business make. Universal Orlando or Disney are destination resorts, making their profits from people coming from all over the country (not that they don't sell a lot of season passes, too, but their bread and butter is the out of towner dropping big bucks on a week's vacation). Six Flags, in contrast is a collection of regional parks making their money on the locals. Six Flags doesn't expect to have anyone come to their parks and drop a fortune on meals and entertainment in a day. Hence Six Flags selling the Deluxe Dining Pass giving unlimited food at a bunch of low end restaurants -- they are more interested in getting the customers to come back, and that's a way to do it. Compare Universal Orlando's Citywalk, with a bunch of super expensive restaurants meant to separate a customer from his/her money on that customer's one and only visit to UO. There won't be any dining pass (they do sell a one day food pass, but again, that's a way to separate the customer from his money in one day). None of this is to say that Six Flags can't take lessons from UO or DIsney -- theming, for instance, is very important to a Universal or a DIsney because it creates the incredible overall experience that justifies people spending a small fortune to go there, but that doesn't mean, as many on this forum seem to think, that theming can simply be ignored by a regional company like Six Flags. Hence my complaining about SFStL's poor theming. But at the end of the day, Six Flags and Unversal / Disney are not direct competitors. They target totally different markets. I am stoked by seeing JLBFM and am definitely comparing it to Universal's similar rides. But that doesn't mean that I'm going to think "Wow! There'a a great ride at Six Flags that reminds me of Transformers! Guess I don't need to go to Universal ever again!" Nor is Six Flags trying to accomplish that. They're trying to up their game to attract more locals. Any comparison to the big boys is a bonus.
ThemeParkJunkie51290 Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 ^True, but I'm glad that Six Flags is trying to push an attraction that involves so much more than what they're used to having. To be honest, I would of never thought that Six Flags would create a ride that could be compared to Universal's or have physical sets that could be compared to Disney. What we have to remember is that Six Flags is Six Flags. All day everyday (unless someone buys them out in the future)! LOL. But with all the positives reviews I'm sure Six Flags made a great investment.

Woodie Warrior Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 ^Same here. I was trying to wait and be surprised, but I couldn't help myself. Either way, I'm sure riding it will be a totally different experience.
SFSTLMO Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 ^^True, but this time I really wanted to come in surprised, not expecting what will come next.

HARLEYGUYJB Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 I really wish your Dining Pass was valid at all Six Flags parks. Probably going to Chicago this weekend and hate paying retail for food!!
HWFan Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 I wanted to makes a quick note regarding the newly released POVs from SFOT. One thing that is cool about our ride is that it's 200 feet longer than the one in Texas. That's almost like the length of Mr. Freeze's station & launch tunnel. With the additional length, they were able to do a couple cool things in SFSL that they couldn't in SFOT. Ignore the kinda crappy quality of the following screenshot, but it shows just how short the load/unload platform is. Our's seems to be at least twice that length. One nice part is that in order to help capacity, the ride vehicles will be continuously moving through the station like Pandemonium. Th load/unload platform at SFOT. Also, notice how there are doors at the end of the platform? Those doors are in numerous places throughout the ride in order to keep out sound/light pollution from the scenes on each side of the one you're currently experiencing. However, with the doors at the end of the ride platform, anyone in the line can see into the ride itself as each vehicle is just thrown into the ride. At SFSL, there is a nice bit of curvy track, keeping that from happening. My goal is to give you a basic hand-drawn layout of the attraction tomorrow. In terms of the attraction's facade, it is really looking great as nice new sod now covers all of the non-concrete areas in front of the ride. Now, the following pictures of the building were taken last weekend, so things have progressed a lot since then. However, they still give you a good idea of the area. Enjoy.....or don't enjoy (prozach, i'm talking to you): The side of the building that will be used for an extended queue. Inside that grey garage door is the maintenance bay for the vehicles (I believe two can park in there), the massive A/C unit for the building, and most of the ride's computers. A close up on the entrance and light up sign. A closer look at the facade and marbling. The exit pathway leading from the ride building to the heroes v. villains shop. This area has since been sodded. The exit door and side of the other side of the building. As you can see, it has also been painted. Also, here is the building that the Hall of Justice was originally based on. It's the Union Terminal in Cincinnati, Ohio. I'm off to bed now, however, as tomorrow will be an exciting day! After delivering a couple super hero capes to some special kids at St. Louis Children's Hospital, I'm off to work where, if everything goes as planned, I will take part in the E-stop/Evac testing. I know, I know. I am such a selfless person to volunteer for such a boring, harrowing task, but someone's gotta do it. Finally, after seeing plenty of comments on here and social media along the lines of "that fireball is nice but will only last for one season tops," I mentioned it to Dave today, who wanted to reassure everyone that it would not be going away. Now you can all sleep at night. You're welcome. As you drift off to sleep, here' s couple non-JLBM pics to close on: When returning from break Sunday, there were a bunch of deer just chillin' by my car. I've seen them all over, but never in that part of the employee lot. Ironically, I hit a deer pulling out of the park that night, which caused ,500 worth of damage to my car. I was thinking about how this is a view of the Boss that you don't normally get to see. Its two massive turns look kinda artsy or whatever.
LBIJim Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 I'm considering visiting SF St. Louis for the first time in over 20 years this summer. Is the water park included with general admission like in Chicago or DC, or is it separate ala New Jersey, Magic Mountain or Dallas? Thanks.
