Six Flags St. Louis (SFStL) Discussion Thread

Recommended Posts

I got a question about pass prossing seeing sfstl is open earlyer then sfgam and im planing to visit sfstl opening weeked is it possible to get my gold season pass for sfgam prossed at sfstl?

Now although there are a couple of changes this year with processing, here is a general idea of how we would handle this situation and your options:

First, in the past, we have had the ability to change the park on passes. However, keep in mind that if it is a gold pass processed in St. Louis, the coupons and some of the options that come with it will be for St. Louis only. You will still get to park at Gurnee for free, but I can't promise what other benefits you'll get. I will run this by our Admissions full-time and get back to you if there is anything else.

EDIT: If you call the park sometime Monday through Friday from 9:00-5:00, just tell them that you have a question about your season pass and need to speak to a Guest Relations Supervisor. Given the details of your situation, they can explain your options if you to visit us before SFGAm opens. Thanks!

^^

If it wasn't a problem in the past then why are you even asking About it??? He's trying to help you out and letting you know what he knows. Six Flags season pass rule of thumb has always been is that you process the pass at the park you bought them at. Maybe things have changed, maybe they haven't. The advice I have for you is read the voucher. It usually states the rules on pass processing. (At least it has in the past)

Good luck.

^First off, it's never a bad idea to double check something because things do change. We would rather guests check in with us before, than run into problems later.

Second, I think he meant that it was not a problem before because SFGAm used to do days where you could go process your pass before the park was open, which would allow him to process his pass in Gurnee and go to St. Louis before SFGAm was open. They must not be doing that this year.

And honestly, fielding questions is one of my favorite parts of my job. While this thread is awesome for discussing all kinds of park information about our rides and attractions, I think that having employees on here should be taken advantage by anyone who has a question, even if it sounds stupid to someone else.

So if you were Boss... would you transform the old Mine Train Station back into a Coaster Queue or leave it as is (a haunted House which is only used 4 weeks out of the year) ?? I would transform it back to a Station renew some of the park's nostalgia of yesteryear.

I would be split. A lot of parks reuse coaster stations, so I might just reuse Ninjas. It would definitely depend on the actual structure of the old mine train station to see how much work would need to be done to make it structurally suitable to act as a station again. In terms of the haunted house, the Slaughter House is one of our top attractions every year, so it would also depend on finding a new location for it and the storage that is in the station the rest of the year.

Also, a Eurofighter would be a really cool addition too, but it wouldn't really bring in the crowds.

I think the reason more SF parks haven't gone with Eurofighters after Dare Devil Dive is because of capacity issues.

Yeah. I feel like Eurofighters typically make a good fit for a small park that want a thrill ride on a budget. Since they're a small park, capacity really isn't an issue. However, with the new sixteen person cars, hopefully capacity will become less of a problem.

I don't know how the rest of you feel about it, and it's not a HUGE issue, but the need for multiple midcourse brakes to allow for multiple cars on the track, a la Pandemonium, stops the flow of the ride to me. It's a slightly bigger annoyance when watching looping coasters like Dare Devil Dive, and I've never ridden one, so maybe the ride experience isn't interrupted as much as it appears, but personally I'd rather have a ride that doesn't need 3 or more brakes on the circuit to allow for multiple cars/trains to increase capacity/throughput.

I believe that Dare Devil Dive only has one midcourse brake run. There might be some trims, but I couldn't see them. I feel like a lot of longer rides benefit from a break run. i.e. The Incredible Hulk. The ride has a first great half, then takes a breather before the home stretch. However, too many break runs do break up the experience, as seen in Rip Ride Rocket (which is still a kick-ass ride).

I disagree with your opinion on Hulk. The mid-course break destroys the flow of the ride and makes the train meander super slowly through the finale (however the beginning is awesome and it is my #3 steel coaster). However, I believe Pandemonium's MCBR doesn't affect the ride at all since the car is still spinning and doesn't slow down at all.

I don't see another Gerstlauer ride added to Six Flags parks until the NTAG incident is solved.

Yes, it only has one midcourse brake run. I rode it 40+ times for media day when it opened. Once we got stuck on the MCBR. It was really awesome going through that final heartline roll at a super slow speed.

What is that like, 40+ times on a ride in a single day? I love rides, but doesn't that repetition drive you crazy?

Tom's Twister was my absolutely favorite ride at the park. One day we rode it at least 9 times in a row until closing, barely stumbled out of the park that day.

I have found memories of it from my childhood. Including a kid across the ride vomiting all over himself.

It doesn't surprise me that Tom's Twister got removed. The fact that parts got harder to make, Six Flags removing them 1 by 1, and the SFGAm accident are all factors in them removing it.

Yes, that was in a single day. They also opened Goliath for us so I rode that a few times.

Nope. I didn't find the ride super intense so that made it easier.

Just wondering, can somebody tell me about the quality of the park operations on opening day? I know that SFGam is pretty notorious for slow crews and one train operations opening weekend, and I've never been to SFStl during the opening weekend, so any advice about what I should expect is greatly appreciated.

Also, how crowded has opening weekend been the past few years?

Operations will be slower than normal. Remember that opening day is the first time some people on the crew have worked with guest, trust me an empty train is faster to check and clear than a loaded train. Some rides will be at a reducedI'm helping a friend with his car, I will be home as soon as I can capacity for the first couple of weeks. The park shouldn't be too busy, last season with one train American Thunder had about a 15 min. wait. So if you go opening day just be patient safety is out number one goal and we will try to move the lines along as quick as possible. Most important rule for opening day is have fun.

Where did that come from

Stupid iPhone

Android bros 4 life! Seriously though, thanks for the info about the park. You and HWFan (that's his username, right?) represent the park and its management so well on TPR, and I can't thank you enough for that. I can't imagine this thread without you guys!

(Psst... Hey, if I keep sucking up to you guys can I get a letter of recommendation in a couple years when I'm old enough to work there? )
