TheStig
Okay so yesterday I recieved my ACE magazene called "Roller Coaster" (yes I know, I'm an ACEr) and it has a 4 page trip report about this lady's trip to Japan. Now, in one of the parks there was a coaster called "Loop Coaster" which was built by Mesho (another "Arrow-Like" company) and it seems really interesting. It's like a shuttle loop, except you are pulled up the back spike and dropped backwards. So, has anyone been on one of these scary looking machienes? Just wondering because it sounds like an interesting ride... Colin C
Guest
Is it me or is that thing leaning farther then the Leaning Tower of Pizza? And the rust. Paint people, it does look nicer. I know I haven't ridden it. But, sure looks interesting! Katie
BiCoastal Kid
^It looks as if only the first part of the loop has lateral change. Odd, indeed!
pianojohn
I was on one but I think it was made by Senyo. It was like a shuttle loop. I left the station moving forward up a lift hill. When I got to the top, the track leveled off and then went further up. Then the car started going backwards, down the lift hill, through the station, through the loop, and up the spike. It then lost power and traveled forward through the loop and ended up in the station. I took a bunch of pictures of it, but they are all back home in Orlando. Here is more info on that particular ride: http://rcdb.com/id1250.htm
PhishyBrewer
It kind of reminds me of a Togo
rollerdude
Looks like a death machine with that drop after the station. They look flimsy too.
WillMontu
The only one I'm familiar with is the Thunderbolt at Dreamworld. It was scapped because it was such a rough ride. All the rest are in Japan, China, and Korea. http://www.rcdb.com/installationresult.htm?column=1,10,30,3,26,4,5&order=1,2&contact=

niiicolaaah
Why is everybody slamming this thing? is it because of meisho? or the rust? really. it's just a shuttle loop, everybody chill. lol
Cerberus
Holy crap, what are those 'booster tyres' doing on the side of the track like that?! I used to have a Hotwheels toy car track that used a system like that to launch vehicles around loops and stuff. It'd be hilarious if it was put to a similar use on this ride. As for the ride in general... is it still operating? It looks like it is out of action or half dismantled. Probably was quite interesting in its time! Mind Eraser
Meiso uses tires as a part of their braking system. The train hits the tires at the end of the ride (and theyre quite squeaky and loud!), the tires slow the train into the regular brakes. As far as I know, all or most Meisho coasters use these tires. Some Meisho coasters don't even have standard brakes, the tires do all the work. -kip- [edit] Here is a photo of a nicer-looking Meisho shuttle
Cerberus
^ The train hits a row of booster tyres at full speed in order to skid to a halt?! No wonder there aren't many of these around, the maintenance costs of replacing tyres would be insane. Apart from that, and after looking at your better photo above, I'm actually quite liking the industrial bulkiness of their track design. Very strong and brutal lookin' Cerberus

Real
Meisho is mostly famous for Moonsault Scramble which was one of very few coasters to feature 6+ G's on its ride. coaster_type_of_person
^That ride looks like it would be a lot of fun! WOW! 6.2G's? I thought that coasters weren't' allowed to operate over 5.5 G's?
BiCoastal Kid
I believe Thriller(Zonga, pre-Six Flags) pulled 6.3.
Real
Where on earth did you ever hear that? Tower of Terror -6.3- (SBNO for rehab) http://www.rcdb.com/id1481.htm Thriller/Texas Tornado -6 ish- (later moved to SFMW as Zonga and reprofiled) http://www.rcdb.com/ig492.htm Read the topic on G-Forces. 5.5 is alot, but not really a ton. Unless you weigh 400 lbs, then 5G's makes you a ton.
BC
Did ride another Meisho coaster at Fujiu-Q Highland called Double Loop http://www.rcdb.com/ig1191.htm?picture=3 ...and that was so rough! Possibly the roughest coaster I have ever ridden. This is now closed...

Real
Well, thats probably one of those wooden loop coasters that broke peoples necks. I dont really think they had accelerometers on those things back then but I bet through some rough math someone figured it out. But considering it broke necks...probably a good chance it was that high
