USRoadTripper Posted November 20, 2005 Posted November 20, 2005 I was wondering how people here prefer to read photo TRs. Do you prefer when all the days are posted in one thread, and the author keeps replying to their own post to add more photos? Or do you prefer when each day of a trip is broken into a separate thread? -Julie
Erik Johnson Posted November 20, 2005 Posted November 20, 2005 When I do mine I like to post the entire thing in one thread. I don't try to post all the pictures in one sitting, but over a day or two I am able to add pictures here and there.
PhishyBrewer Posted November 20, 2005 Posted November 20, 2005 The entire TR on one thread. No Day 1 or day 2. That's why you can edit your post. Just edit the topic in the second line like "Updated 11/19" And giving it a bump once doesn't hurt either.
Nrthwnd Posted November 20, 2005 Posted November 20, 2005 I agree with Erik and Phishy - if you split your TR into separate threads, then one or the other (or more) can get slowly lost in the "downflow", the way the threads usually, somewhat eventually, go here. If the peeps are really wanting to keep up with your TR, they will, thru same thread. That's the way I did my first-ever TR, the Amsterdam trip (SEE THREAD, in Random, Random, lol)? And just changed the second line posting, as needed, when I added more pix. And of course, an ocassional 'bump up' never hurt, either.
robbalvey Posted November 20, 2005 Posted November 20, 2005 I also prefer one thread for seperate days. I do want to add a question on to this, though..... (Thanks for posting this, BTW, Julie!) When we do our site updates, to people prefer when we do all parks at once (Like when we did the Japan update last year), or a park a day over a number of days (like we did the Europe & Orlando updates) Sorry if I hijacked the thread, and please, everyone be sure to answer BOTH Julie's question and mine too! --Robb
PhishyBrewer Posted November 20, 2005 Posted November 20, 2005 ^Damnit Robb! A park over the days I prefer... but of cousre, I've been drinking.
SharkTums Posted November 20, 2005 Posted November 20, 2005 As long as you don't post like 12 different threads for one trip, I don't really mind. Whatever is easier for the poster!

I thought it was very cool how you kept us updated while actually on your trip. It was almost like having a live feed from your trip.
moinab Posted November 20, 2005 Posted November 20, 2005 I love the 1 park/day format, like the Europe trip thread. The only thing I don't like is when a million pictures are on one page. For those of us living in the dark ages of dial-up, that means a lot of timing out, and then right clicking on "show picture." Not a big deal, in the grand scheme of things, though. Hope to upgrade my connection next year. As for the original topic, I also prefer one thread, updated as necessary.
WillMontu Posted November 20, 2005 Posted November 20, 2005 I like what Robb and Elissa do where they use one thread, and when they post an update, they will announce the update, and also post a quick link to it on the first post.
CoasterCrazy Posted November 20, 2005 Posted November 20, 2005 I like it better when all the days are posted in one continuing thread. I also like when people update the first post or the title so that you know what page the update is on.
coasterdude5 Posted November 20, 2005 Posted November 20, 2005 I really liked your vacation on a stick or whatever it was called a while back. I kinda like them broken down too.
USRoadTripper Posted November 21, 2005 Author Posted November 21, 2005 Yeah, I did my Vacation on a Stick TR in separate posts for each day, but I haven't seen many people do it that way. And a couple of the days did seem to get lost as people posted in other threads, and they got out of order as people replied to them. I come from usenet though (RADP) where separate posts were highly preferred. I'll make sure to do one thread for my upcoming Orlando TR! And Robb, I prefer the daily updates when doing a big site update, but whatever is convenient for you guys! I'm on dialup too, so smaller chunks of pictures load faster for me. -Julie
nannerdw Posted November 21, 2005 Posted November 21, 2005 1. I would probably keep my review down to one post, since I never to go more than one park in the same trip. 2. It's really fun to get a new update every day, rather than just having a bunch of new pages to look through.
Scaparri Posted November 21, 2005 Posted November 21, 2005 I like it when people just post everything all at once, unless it's an event that is taking place overtime, then it depends. Like, when Wally did his day-by-day update of his Cedar Point trip, that worked. Generally though, I like to read it all at once. Robb, I really liked how you guys did the Europe update this summer. Considering how big it was, it worked out really nicely. Plus, it was really neat to see what you guys had done each day as it was going by. It also gave me something to look forward to at the end of my shifts this summer.
disneygurlz2s Posted November 21, 2005 Posted November 21, 2005 I sometimes have a hard time following the trip reports where pics get added as you go (I miss things, what can I say??), but I understand on a huge trip like some of Robb and Elissa's it would seem crazy to do a separate day for each. I think it would be a good idea to, at the beginning of your thread, tell us to check back for updates so that we know you are going to continue to add to the same thread.
