4718
Today.......well, actually, yesterday now that it's 12:30 am for me. So anyway, Saturday afternoon, Superman had an incident, a bit of a bloody one too. Now, before you go and think that some idiot ride op. walked in front of the car as it was dispatched, let me tell you that you're wrong, and it was much more of a random uncontrollable event. Seems that a guy got nailed in the face by a hawk as the car was bombing down the track, but not too far out of the station. My lead heard the call go out on the radio for an injury at Superman, then a call to have any extra blood kits (a pair of gloves, disinfecting wipe, other junk, and a Biohazard bag to put it all in) run up there, then saw a EMT Ford Explorer guided through the gates next to the Batman theater, followed by the park ambulance a few minutes later........both drove up the midway, with a security guard and EMT leading the way. No idea what happened to the hawk, my best guess is that it's with God now, but apparently the guy got nailed pretty bad. We went as far as speculating that maybe the guy broke his nose (this is very much UNCONFIRMED), and maybe that's why it could have been so bloody. Anyway, just thought I'd cheer everybody up, and maybe shed some light on it if you saw SUV's and abulance vans cruising around on the midway this afternoon. Scaparri
I was a ride op this year on Millennium Force and we had a girl get hit in the face by a goose at the bottom of the first drop. That was pretty bad. The front of the train was covered in blood, she was covered in blood, and the blood was all over the first four cars of the train. She messed her face up pretty bad. When we walked the low zones that night, we found feathers scattered everywhere. It's amazing how many dead birds we found this summer, not to mention bloodied faces. KrakenKing
I got hit by a wasp on Kraken, there was a nest in the camera (The one that takes your picture)... you could see wasps in the On-Ride photo :? You think they would've killed them before the park opened... I also got hit by (What I believe was a penny) on the Hulk as we were going into the Tunnel under the bridge. Luckly it only hit my hand, would've sucked if it hit my face.

shesaidboom
Lots of bird incidents. When I was at Geauga Lake in 2004 my boyfriend and I were waiting in line for Steel Venom, there was one rider on the train at the time and a bird hit the seat right next to him [the seat I was going to sit in the ride right after] and went skipping across the station. When I was waiting for Millenium Force a few days later, a train ran over a Hawk. Unfortunately the Hawk was still alive through this whole ordeal because the train only ran over its wing and it was trapped for nearly an hour before they could get it out. I'm not sure what they did with it afterwards.
4718
Moving off the topic of birds, but still an animal at Superman..... One of my friends was there when they hit a raccoon with the car, said it basically exploded, and fur and guts and blood were all over the front......not to mention it stunk like burning. Of course, would you expect anything else from a umpteen ton car with giant road wheels and up stops and everything, there's no way it could have just bumped over the little critter either, but it's a funny story. RagingCoasterAlkee
I would imagine someone's face hitting slap into a bird at over 60 mph would cause some damage...serious damage. How do you not get a broken neck.
rollermonkey
I ate a bug during a night ride on Beast during the first drop. I tend not to scream so much on coasters anymore. A bug hitting the back of your throat at 50 MPH is not fun, kind of like a backwards sneeze! Chris B
Gnome
I swallowed a bug on B:TR at SFMM on the final helix. And even at 30 - 40 mph (w/e speed it is) its definately not fun. For more info on what other types of insects I've swallowed on a coaster please visit www.Iswallowedabug.com/gnome
pagemaster_b
Many years ago on a ride at Lagoon, a bee flew into my mouth and stung me. Had a fat lip for a day or so. Should count my lucky stars that it wasn't a bird. I'm curious, though, what do you mean when a bird sets a trap? Do they think the cars and/or people are a meal?
