netdvn Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 ^ The proof could be in the pudding, but I'll have to go check. I've done some surfing on other random coaster sites and I've read that there were problems with the lift supports, that they weren't strong/stable enough. Personally if they were to include a heartline roll on the lift, it wouldn't be Maverick's because I find it hard to believe CP would keep leftover Intamin track from three years ago still in storage. It would probably be manufactured in by Maurer Sohne. I also think its too late in the construction process to be able to fully modify parts an incomplete ride. Chances are its really just a support problem.
KrakenKing Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 There is no solid proof of this happening. No pictures, no press release, no nothing. That picture Wes had of the Intamin track was just that, Intamin track. This is getting way out of hand.
Mr. Volcano Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 Imagine how wild the heartline roll would have felt going down. This is a really interesting move though, should be neat to see how the final touch looks... I always wondered what happened to Maverick's "nuetered" track. -Justin
Lenaapple1974 Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 IF this were true, and it sounds like it is - going up the lift in a heartline wouldn't technically be going upside down, correct?
Wes Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 IF this were true, and it sounds like it is - going up the lift in a heartline wouldn't technically be going upside down, correct? Correct, you will never go upside down.

Mr. Volcano Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 But the real question is, will this be two credits? ...Since it will have coaster track from two different companies after all. No. Powder Keg has track from Premier left but it's still one credit, unless you rode it before it was the water coaster and counted that. If you were joking, I way overanalyzed this. -Justin
jedimaster1227 Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 Everyone says its real but where is the solid proof??? This isn't the first time a ride has been made of two companies' tracks... Just look at Phantom's Revenge and you'll see that it is clearly possible. In the Orlando Theme Park Wars, Universal will do anything to trump its competitors, so expect them to pull out all the stops with this ride... I've even been told that Maurer-Sohne has figured out a way to allow wheelchair-bound guests to ride using a new variation of the X-Car restraint, which will essentially lock in the wheelchair with the rider so that they never have to leave their seat, even when riding. When I spoke to the Maurer-Sohne reps at IAAPA, they couldn't help but stress the fact that they were working to make this ride suitable for a wider audience, so it certainly seems possible.

JT3000 Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 The joke is starting to wear thin now. In other news.... yes, there is news.... they're finally putting up the final run into the station. All that's left to build now is the lift/drop. Speaking of which, I've heard the lift's problem is actually related to its evacuation system. Still no word on how much this has delayed the project.
DiSab Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 I find it hard to believe CP would keep leftover Intamin track from three years ago still in storage. Oh but they did. I heard they were planning on using it in a HalloWeekends display, but it never materialized. They've got to pay off the debt someway.
~mike~ Posted April 11, 2009 Posted April 11, 2009 Looks like they are about to finish with the track into the station... http://www.johnnyupsidedown.com/new09/rr165a.jpg
King_K. Posted April 11, 2009 Posted April 11, 2009 Just got back into Miami from Uni. Took loads of pictures of Potter and Rockit, I'll upload them later tonight. The track section leading into the station HAS been installed.
ash.1111 Posted April 11, 2009 Posted April 11, 2009 Looking good! Does anyone know if this roller coaster going to have any special effects/major theming added?

ash.1111 Posted April 11, 2009 Posted April 11, 2009 Sorry, I should have exaggerated more -- other than the tower and LED lighting, will it feature any other major special effects or theming? I am not really sure of the exact location of the station and if this can be done, but will they build any facades around the station etc? And will things like fire/fog be added? Again, my fault for not being more upfront with what I meant.
JT3000 Posted April 11, 2009 Posted April 11, 2009 There won't be anything major. I'm sure they'll "theme" the station in some way, but otherwise it's bare bones.
King_K. Posted April 11, 2009 Posted April 11, 2009 Went to Universal on Good Friday expecting light crowds. I was HIGHLY mistaken. Can't wait. Crowd surfer. Upskirt. Sexy Fail. Sexy. I still hope you people don't believe that crappy heartline twist lift/launch that you're all being spoonfed by Wes. LOL. #2 Distance shots. Little queue action. This rollercoaster has some sexy curves. Ain't she a beauty. Ramp leading into the exit HAS been installed! Welders working on an Exit Ramp. Heavy Crowds. No Mardi Gras today D: Gorgeous.
King_K. Posted April 11, 2009 Posted April 11, 2009 Here's are some pics that I took from yesterday. Not too much progress. #3 #2 Artsy-Fartsy. #3 #2 Entrance Arch The Three Broomsticks Flying Unicorn, no progress yet. The Potter Box
KrakenKing Posted April 11, 2009 Posted April 11, 2009 WHY SO SERIOUS? Because it is kinda moronic when you have to scroll through 4 pages of trash to find any real updates.
