thrillrider
I'm not the greatest at writing a trip report, but here it goes.... We left Michigan just over 2 weeks ago for our yearly mega coaster trip. This year we focused on mid America parks. Our first stop was Six Flags St Louis to pick up our season passes as we were going to be hitting several different six flags parks on this trip. We were also able to spend the majority of the day at the park, and were really impressed with our visit compared to our prior trip to the park. First the negatives... The only real negative was the show at the palace theater...it was horrid. It looked like it was out on by a bunch of amateurs. Other than that, everything was open(except the boomerang) and the staff was friendly and on Mark as far as dispatching coasters. There was also a switchfoot concert, and actually got to ride Batman with them. Cool guys. Onto some pictures. I will do 1 park at a time since there are so many. So let's start with Six flags St Louis. Well hello St louis And hello six flagd This year, they added a new ride Typical disk-o ride Six flags got it rite! Why can't cedar fair do This? The park had a really good parade. For lunch, I used the meal plan to score a chicken ceaser salad. There had to be 1/2 pound of chicken on it. Over the course of our trip, we found that six flags dinning plan was superior to cedar fairs meal plan. My personal favorite coaster in the park. It's hard to get much of this ride photographed. Durring this trip, we got to experience 3 different justice league rides. This coaster is also a lot of fun. Nice ride entrance...npt so comfortable ride. Worst show ever. But the park had several other entertainment options Batman doing it's thing. As we were eating, a family finished eating, and didn't even bother throwing there trash out. There was a trash can right by where I took this picture from. Within 5 min, a six flags employee cleaned it up. We had a great time at the park. Time to leave for our next park...magic springs. ThemeParkJunkie51290
Great! I'm looking forward to the Magic Springs report! It's a park I always wanted to visit, but never took out the time.
Canobie Coaster
Great report! I almost went to Six Flags St. Louis a few months ago but switched it out for Indiana Beach and Michigan's Adventure instead. Looks like a pretty nice Six Flags park. ytterbiumanalyst
Glad you enjoyed the park! That Mardi Gras festival was fun, and much better than I expected it to be. Turned out to be a good day to go. Great! I'm looking forward to the Magic Springs report! It's a park I always wanted to visit, but never took out the time. Normally I'd say you're crazy, but you actually enjoyed Mt. Olympus, so I have every confidence you'll have a good time at Magic Springs. X-Coaster is really great and unique in the U.S.
RAWKIN_coaster38
There was also a switchfoot concert, and actually got to ride Batman with them. Cool guys. I LOVE Switchfoot!! I would die if I got to ride a coaster with them! So cool. Did you see them perform? I'll be hopefully visiting SFSTl soon so it was great to read your report. thrillrider
No... We did not have tickets to the concert, nor did we even know they were there untill we got to the park. We were able to hear some of the concert while walking around the park. We were also able to watch the sound check from screeching eagles platform while waiting to ride. thrillrider
Today's update is from magic springs(unfortunately). I didn't really have high expectations going into this park, and they did not disappoint. This was definitely the worst park of the trip. Everything from the layout of the park, to 1 train operations on the coasters, to the world's slowest ride operations. It should NOT take 10 minutes to unload, load, and dispatch 1 train. The operators were in no hurry what so ever to dispatch a train. It was more important to them to check there cell phones and joke around with eachother. The log ride was fun if you can look past the slow staff, long line, and the fact that they only run a few logs for some reason. There was a lot of empty areas where it looked like there used to be a ride there. I would also not recommended anyone with a stroller or wheel chair to attempt this park. We had to chuckle at the fact that there were several people walking around with ankle bracelets on. The only positive thing this park has going for it was the X coaster. This thing was just crazy scary. It was a unique new type of thrill ride I have never experienced. The water park also looked inviting, but very buisy. Onto the pictures... After navigating the confusing parking lot, we arrived at the main gate. First stop on our way back to the coasters was the bumper cars. But with a LONG line, and only a couple of bumper cars we passed. Our next stop was the parks log flume. Fun flume ride, but with the world's slowest staff, and running only a few logs....get ready for an epic wait. The lay of the land Our first coaster we came across was this. A typical slc coaster Yea....credit horring time. One advantage of having kids, is that you don't look like a pedifile scoring credits. Next credit. I think this coaster was purchased from dollywood...correct me if I'm wrong. Hard to get any pictures of the ride since it's basically hidden in the trees. The best ride in the park. This is just a crazy coaster tgat need to be experienced.... unfortunately you have to go to Magic springs to ride it. The station Insane twist with a great view In our way to our last credit in the park, we ran across this ummm. Interesting food stand. Our last credit, on the opposite side of the park. This coaster is basically in the water park all by itself. Decent coaster, a bit ruff in spots. One last look at the train. A few random pictures of the park. The water park looked to be very popular. Probably not.... That's all from this park. On the road again. Next stop is the lone star state.
thrillrider
A few bonus pictures of the drive to Texas. There is a place called "Buckies" that is only located in Texas. They have several locations in the state. I HIGHLY recommend checking this place out. This place is huge! They have 200 gas pumps, giant wall of candy, beef jerky, freshly made sandwiches, and anything else you could want on a road trip. And don't forget to try the beaver nuggets as well. We also stopped by Magnolia, and the Alamo. This is what 200 gas pumps looks like. Everything you could want. We also stopped by magnolia market from the HGTV show. As soon as you get into Texas, they make sure to remind you where you are. Even our breakfast at the hotel had waffles in the shape of Texas. And of course if your in Texas, you have to visit the Alamo. Unfortunately, you can't take pictures inside. That's it from the Alamo....next stop is Six Flags fiesta Texas. ThemeParkJunkie51290
Awesome report from Magic Springs! True, this park may not be "top 10" worthy . . . BUT . . . I see I have to make a visit in the near future. CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!
thrillrider
If you go there and just ride x coaster and can look past the slowest crew of all time, you may enjoy it.
ytterbiumanalyst
That's an accurate assessment of Magic Springs. The waterpark is legitimately great, up there with Holiday World and Dollywood, seriously. The rest of the park besides X-Coaster just flat out sucks. I really wouldn't mind if this place becomes only a waterpark in the future. Stick to what you're good at.
thrillrider
The next park of our trip was probably my favorite...Six flags fiesta Texas. Not only was the theaming on par with universal, but it was also clean. This did not feel like a traditional six flags park. The iron rattler was my 2nd favorite coaster of the trip(#1 Will be disclosed later in the trip report). I loved everything about this park. I took a lot of pictures from this park, so there will be a few updates. We have arrived Is this really a six flags park? We just couldn't get past the theaming and cleanliness of this park Our first credit of the day Batman and hustler The kids had a blast on hustler Next we checked out the parks log flume ride. Even the line was theamed This park has a nice fest house style restaurant. This coaster was really fun Interesting ride. Same thing as flight of fear, just without the building Spaghetti bowl Yes....we are at six flags Superman and star flyer The setting for this park is just pure awsomeness Goliath is the parks inverted coaster. It's located in the very front of the park. At first, it was kinda hard to find because it's in a weird location. If you like the Batman clones, you will love this coaster The park has a nice star flyer Awsomeness Credit horring time Lot's more coming from fiesta Texas....stay tuned. Nrthwnd
The don't mince words with signs do they....Kiddee Coaster. The Mega Coaster Trip's looking great! Looking forward to more, more, more! Six Flags Fiesta Texas looks awesome! I always liked the looks of this park, and wanted to visit, somehow.
thrillrider
Yes, fiesta Texas is a great park. I do have to say that of all the six flags and cedar fair parks we went to on this trip, six flags has cedar fair beat. Not only on park experience, but even service and cleanliness. The only exception would "maybe" be six flags great America. Lot's more pictures and parks coming soon.
Philrad71
SFFT is definitely on my bucket list of parks to visit...that location in the quarry is just too cool.
thrillrider
Some more pictures from six flags fiesta Texas. The ambiance of this park is top notch. Park map The parks bumper cars. What's up with the large, unused area? The s&s tower is an eye catcher I guess this water rides days are numbered Just once for the credit. Yep...its a boomerang I love this coaster! RMC goodness I love how the coaster incorporates the quarry walls. The park also has a spinning chicken coaster. To escape the heat, we went to check out one of the parks shows. Can't recall the name of the theater, but it was huge! The water rides were a popular option on this 100 degree day. This is the parks new attraction The boardwalk area really pops at night The parks train ride has a twist This one goes right thru a quarry wall They also have a Scooby doo dark ride A few more pictures of batman There is a short, indoor section of the line that is inside and has some great theaming Our of all 3 of this type of coaster we were able to ride on this trip, this one was the best. It seemed to spin a LOT more than the others. Here are a few random pictures of the park. The park had these history boards all around the park...nice Log flume entrance Boomerang at light speed Roadrunner express diograhm Power surge I say....thats it from fiesta Texas. Next stop is seaworld San Antonio.

Geauga Dog
Thanks for the TR. I applaud you for driving from Michigan to Texas as I don't think I could handle a long drive like that. At least you got some new credits along the way. X Coaster looks quite intriguing but not really worth going out of the way for. The Texas parks have been on my radar for quite some time and Fiesta Texas, just by your photos, seems to have a different vibe compared to the other parks in the chain. Glad you had a safe trip and look forward to the rest of your report.
thrillseeker4552
Excellent trip report! I've always thought Fiesta Texas was the "Knott's Berry Farm" of Six Flags. It has that little extra charm and originality that the others don't quite have. I look forward to more!
cfc
^Agreed. I've yet to do a big Texas park trip, but I've always liked this park's setting--unique among the Six Flags parks.
MIAfan88
Krypton Coaster looks like a fun ride with it's interaction with the walls. How would you rate Superman? Does it ride as good as it looks?
