Six Flags Discovery Kingdom (SFDK) Discussion Thread

^ Both of those coasters however still maintain very long lines and are very popular. The SFDK team, even said they eventually plan on getting the new Vekoma Vest Restrain Trains for both coasters eventually.

Did they say both?? I know they said it for Kong, but I don't remember the same being said about Boomerang. Boomerang is not only massively mediocre, but it breaks down a lot more than any of the other coasters. I hope they get rid of it before they get rid of any of the other thrill rides, but even then, it's probably going to be at least a few years before they should consider something like that.

Funny, everytime I had been to the park, which is many, many times, Boomerang has always been running. Breaking down all the time?....hmmm...between the two Kong needs the new trains way more, it is a terribly painful ride right now.

That is interesting... because I've been there many many times and I'd say at least half the times Boomerang was closed for a good portion of the day. Tasmanian seems to be closed a lot too when I go, but I love Tasmanian a lot more than Boomerang.

I really hope they get the new trains/restraints on Kong because I think it could be kinda fun if it wasn't for the pain.

^ Tas is an old HUSS ride, not really surprising to see it down so often sadly...

As for the Boomerang, it's really an anchor attraction for that back area and always has a full queue. I would love to see the new vest restraints put on both Kong and Boomerang.

Isn't Voodoo a HUSS also? I don't see that one down as often as Tas.

I would like to see new restraints on Boomerang as well, but I would definitely be in support of taking it out [in the next 5 years] for something better. The only problem with my solution is that Boomerang is not as tall so it can be where it is in the park while a taller coaster would probably exceed the height limit.

Maybe we should just have a "Pave All Vekomas" page!

LETS!

The three rides I see down a lot are Boomerang, Tas, and Hammerhead. Boomerang is usually never down for more than two hours when I'm at the park, but break downs seem common. Tas and Hammerhead really seem to be down very long periods of time when they are, and Tas seems to always be closed cause of some one vomiting, which im sure the ride crew is always happy about . But really, I could care less if hammerhead leaves, but tas and boomerang, Tas is one of my favorite flat rides and Ive had some great rides on boomerang (Yes, I said greats rides on boomerangs!). So when it comes down to it, I think Hammerhead should be the next to go.

^^ Top Thrill Dragster, Maverick, Wind Seeker, Shoot The Rapids are rides that suffer fairly regular downtime the past few seasons, and that is just Cedar Point.

Rides break down. It happens. Throw in the fact that Huss is one of the worst companies to get parts from (it can take MONTHS just to get a part from them), and you easily have extended downtime on a Huss ride.

Which sucks because Huss giants are really the only flats I'll wait to ride, those and the S&S swings. Other flats require a walk on in my book.

For some reason I always see rides break down in Six Flags but never at Cedar Fair.

Lol, then you are not paying attention.

I'm probably not plus I go to CGA all the time and with 2 B&Ms as the 2 largest coasters which rarely break down.

My last ride on Kong (in 2010 season) was okay. But the coaster seems really compacted to where you can't enjoy the elements without being thrown right into the next one. My favorite part isn't loops, spins, etc. It's when you encounter foot choopers. I always stiffen my leg's/feet on Kong, always.

Anyways let's hope they get the new trains soon. Otherwise it s Muedusa, V2, Roar and Bumper Cars for me. I LOVE the bumper cars there. Drive about 1 and a half hours from Stockton, first ride is driving smaller cars.

I agree, at least with those at SFDK. Taz is down a lot but it's worth the wait when it is up and running, and it's pretty high capacity so the lines go fast. Voodoo is really fun also and it rarely has a wait longer than one circuit. I always ride it midday when all of the other rides have super long lines.

You forgot about Superman!
