RAWKIN_coaster38
But Roar DANG how did it get so frigen loud??? They need to make Roar a little quieter. It's much louder than the sound of the Grizzly's lift hill. LOL I've always said, "You don't roar. IT roars!" The photos of it when it was first advertised always showed lots of people screaming, but it's so loud that you can hardly hear the person sitting next to you. I really hope they don't do Flash Pass for this coaster, at least not on opening day. I hope they would think ahead enough to do some sort of double-station thing, but I highly doubt they will. I'm getting more excited by the day for this thing!
SoCalCoasters
^It's a wooden coaster, so it's loud. Nothing near it to justify noise canceling.
nigel d.
Begin rant: so I know it's discovery kingdom's first night for fright fest. The only problem I have with the event is that they are selling WAY to many VIP passes. the "VIP" passes are only $5 more and it includes UNLIMITED front of the line pass for all of the mazes. What does everyone do when they see that kind of VIP upgrade for only $5? They buy it! The people selling the passes said that they will sell as many as people want, there is no cut off. So the line for VIP can technically be longer than the regular line itself. The problem is, they let in 50 VIP's and then four regular. I counted. And it is like this for every maze. Not to mention the amount of time they let pass before they let the next group go in, which is average 5 minutes. So we waited in a line that had about 15 people in it. We said, oh this will be fast. We were in line for 45 minutes. And why? Because they were letting 50 VIPs before they let even regular ticket person in. I know we should have bout ViP it seems. But so MANY people bought VIP passes that their line LOOKED longer than regular, and it would have been longer if it weren't for the 25 VIP to 2 regular ratio. It was so ridiculous that when we went to guest relations, there was someone who bought a VIP pass asking for a refund because the VIP long was too long. So if VIPs think the line is long, think about how the people who bought regular tickets felt. I understand it's their first night, but I really hope try fox it. Everyone in both VIP and regular were complaining. So I can only advise that they either sell MUCH less VIp passes, increase the upgrade to $15-$20, or fix the ridiculous ratio. PLEASE. Look to knots and universal to see how a VIP front of the line pass works. I advise people not to go until this problem is fixed. You will see a Univeral Halloween horror night line for a D rate haunted house.

RAWKIN_coaster38
How sad, Terry the 51-year-old dolphin at SFDK died. Here's an article about it: Vallejo Times Herald I heard about this dolphin only recently and thought it was really cool that SFDK had one of the oldest dolphins in captivity (if not THE oldest). She probably died from old age, but if someone comes across an article with the actual autopsy details, please post it. It's always so sad when one of the beloved animals at SFDK dies. RIP Terry. ernierocker
Seeing how the average life expectancy of a dolphin is 20-25 (yeah I googled it), it is pretty obvious it was old age. Still pretty impressive to have a dolphin live that long.

KGA29
Also I was browsing the SFDK Fright Fest site and found this: Lost Souls of KongKong may be one of the most celebrated steel coasters in the world, but it is also the premier residence in the park for angry, disillusioned spirits whose only joy in death is tormenting riders in the most painful ways imaginable. Most celebrated? In the world?
SoCalCoasters
Aw...I liked that dolphin. This just goes to show that just because they're in captivity doesn't mean that their life span is hindered. ^ Kong...the only context where that would make sense would be if they were talking about the number of SLCs. Even then, that's quite the stretch...
Angry_Gumball
So, has anyone here actually gone to Fright Fest yet? What do these odd descriptions really mean, have they actually done anything to the rides theme-wise, seeing the descriptions they're giving or are we supposed to pretend that the headbanging Kong delivers is really the wrath of angered spirits. Andrewoplis
Just got back from fright fest, and I have to say, it WAS a lot better this year than last year! The Mazes there weren't amazing haunt/ HHN quality, but they where fun anyway. I was really surprised how many people DIDN'T have VIP, its only $5 more and you get into the mazes faster, but whatever, less wait time for me! . My favorite maze was "Slaughterhouse Pig Farm", the detail was good but the best part was that half of the maze was in the old iWerks theater building! . "Scrapyard of the dead" was good as well, the actors were great! The scare zones weren't that goodf, but defiantly worth watching. Roar was running the best it had in years today, IMO. Fright Fest is worth a visit or two if your in the area.

Not really, they added a few things on Roar, but nothing to dramatically change the theme. I didn't see much else on any of the other rides, just name changes. jray21
I just posted my Photo TR from Fright Fest on Saturday night. As for the rides, other than Roar, there really wasn't much theming done to them. But Kong still did make you feel like you were going to die, so I guess that qualifies for a halloween attraction. themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=60664&start=10#p1098442
RAWKIN_coaster38
^ Great TR! I'm glad someone did this because I was really curious about SFDK's Fright Fest. It looks toned down compared to some of the other Fright events I've been following, but SFDK is more of a family park and they work hard to keep it that way. I loled at the "Zonga Forever" comment. That's awesome. And having a maze in the iwerks theater sounds awesome! That thing kinda creeps me out in the daytime... I bet it would be even creepier with a maze late at night! Andrewoplis
^ Oh man, not only was going into the iwerks theater creepy, it was also really awesome! (Especially since it was one of my favorite rides when I first started coming to SFDK). I wouldn't really say that their fright feast is a little toned down just because of families, but its medium size park which means that there is less space to put things like mazes and scare zones than some of the other SF parks, but I do think a lot of it has to do with it being a more family friendly park. RAWKIN_coaster38
^I think that's probably a really big factor in it. Has anyone heard anything about Holiday in the Park yet? Oh man, I totally remember Dinosphere when it came out. I thought it was the coolest thing! Does anyone have photos of those dinosaurs that were in the queue. Or even better, does anyone have photos of the ones from the early Marine World Africa USA days? I think we have a few photos somewhere but not as many as I'd like. Maybe one of these days I'll upload them.
SoCalCoasters
It also appears as if there's going to be a whole lot of room left over from where Superman is going in...I wonder if they'll be able to possibly utilize this space for a haunt maze next year?
