Been a while since I've posted in the SFDK thread. A fellow TPRer sent methis link (Robman) just a few minutes ago, has some cool old school memories of Six Flags Marine World! The highlight was seeing the Medusa-less front of the park, when Medusa was actually parking lots with cars!

^ & ^^ Thanks! Now that I see the photo, I think I did ride this at some point. Can't remember for sure.

Those photos of the whale and dolphin show are hella old school though! They used to change the backdrop every year and the colorful blue wavy backdrop in those pictures was from the early 90s... long before there were any rides!

Thanks for sharing!

Jambo was easily one of the most fun rides to operate, and I thoroughly enjoyed riding it too. One of my favorite flats at the park.

Agreed, Jambo was quite a fun ride. If I remember right, it provided some nice floater air since the metal lapbar (if you even want to call it that) gave you plenty of space. I've only ridden one other kind of ride like that and it was down at Knotts (Grand Slammer? Falling Star ride)...which I also absolutely loved!

Oh wait...I also did both variations of Crazy Surf at SCBB, I guess you can call them 'mini versions' of the above mentioned rides.

I enjoyed Jambo as well. Definitely was a fun experience being felt as if you were about to be thrown out of your seat. Kinda was like Crazy Surf at SCBB, but less intense and with a nice view of the surroundings.

Looking forward to Holiday In The Park in less than three weeks from now!

I'm definitely going to the park for morning ERT on Friday 11/23..anyone else going? XYZ are you showing up early?

I'm definitely showing up early. Maybe we can have a little TPR meet-up for the ERT?

I'll wear my Six Flags shirt so I'm more easily noticeable.

I did go on Jambo but not at SFDK the one at Mall Of America in 1993. I'm assuming it was the exact same ride as Jambo. What was that one called? & Is it still at Mall Of America? These kinds of rides are fun. Are there any left of their kind?

^ I think you are thinking of Tak Attack (formerly Mighty Axe) which is a Zamperla Rotoshake. Jambo was a Zamperla Joker.

Unless MOA had a Chance Falling Star which was a similar ride to Jambo.

^ That's the one I went on. But it was painted like all light blue. Is it still there?

Tak Attack was removed this year for TMNT Shell Shock, a Gerstlauer Sky Fly.

This 11/23 ERT sounds nice. Unfortunately, I'll have family in town then and won't be able to make it. Are people still thinking of a mini TPR meet-up for one of the first two Sundays in December? I will definitely be going then and would love to make it a little party. And, since the crowds are so small then, it'll be like ERT for the entire park! Anybody else with me?

I think he was talking about the Falling Star, not Tak Attack.

I wish SFDK would add some more flats. They have a pretty decent selection, but the last adult flat they added (I don't count SkyScreamer) was Tazmanian Devil in 1999. I think they could benefit from some big flats like a Screamin' Swing or something out in front of the park to pull some of the crowd that mobs the coasters.

Park opens Friday at 2pm, ERT for 2012 or 2013 Season Pass holders starts at 1pm and includes Roar, V2, and Superman

Also:

Between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m., be sure to stop by the picnic grove for a hot cocoa and cookies social. While supplies last, you can warm up with a free cup of hot cocoa and sweeten your holiday spirit by tasting some freshly-baked holiday cookies. Your favorite holiday characters like the gingerbread man and some of Santa’s cuddly reindeer will also be available periodically for photos away from the crowds in this exclusive party. Radio station, 95.3 KUIC will also be making an appearance as they play a variety of holiday hits giving away great prizes like free Season Passes for next year, one-of-a-kind animal art and a free Dolphin Discovery. Whether you’re eating, dancing, singing, or meeting your favorite holiday characters, there’s something for every member of the family to enjoy.

Another extra bonus Season Pass Holders will get is the opportunity to enter any of our animal shows ten minutes early for the entire day! You can pick the best seat in the stadium to watch the premieres of our special holiday-themed animal shows. Join our beautiful Atlantic bottlenose dolphins as they celebrate the holidays in A Dolphin Holiday, or put a little Christmas spirit in your heart with our sea lions, seals, and otters in Sea Lion Express.

Is the consensus still that the park will be fairly empty on Saturday 11/24?

Its not like a summer weekend, but it's still a holiday Saturday..it will probably be busier than Friday or Sunday. Off the top of my head you'd probably see 30 min waits at most.

^Who wants a TPR meet-up?

I won't be able to make it then. Besides, at this time of year (December), the park gets so empty that ERT is superfluous. Is anyone up for a meet-up on Sunday, December 2? That's when I plan on going.
