Angry_Gumball
Although it will probably be easy to spot us at the park... a large group of random people wearing assorted coaster t-shirts and photographing the rides... yeah...probably not too hard to miss. Is this a requirement? I'm not sure I have a coaster related t-shirt or a camera... AHAHAHA.. Who am I kidding, 90% of my wardrobe is coaster stuff. Wow, I need a life. Now I don't feel bad My wardrobe consists of CGA/Haunt stuff, along with some video game shirts I would bring my DSLR but I kind of want to avoid any locker use...may just resort to using my iPhone since my pockets are going to be full anyway (Wallet + iPhone + portable charger after taking photos = bulging pockets!). The only confirmation we need is a phone number PMed to me or a bright yellow T-shirt that says, "I'M A TPR MEMBER, HANG OUT WITH ME COASTER NERDS!!!" Bright yellow? Closest I have is my yellow Firefall "First Rider" T-shirt we got at last year's CGA TPR event. I will most likely however be in a Santa Cruz Giant Dipper hoodie and a TPR t-shirt. I agree with RAWKIN_coaster38, no real need to make a confirmed list. However, I think it would be a good idea to establish a meeting place. Also, I have also been looking at the weather, and it is indeed getting better. Weather.com says 30% chance of showers, noaa.gov says 40%, and Weather Underground says only overcast. I can deal with those odds! Same, can deal with those odds as well. KTVU originally showed AM showers but just changed it to 'chance.' Judging from all these forecasts, the rain will be a hit and a miss. Just like when I did CGA's opening day last season there was a chance of showers...and it did rain, just not inside the park...was like we had some kind of bubble over the park/in the park's vicinity as everywhere else was getting dumped on by wetness. It was cold though, cold enough for snow to be on the hills in the distance
cal1br3tto
Go get pizza on Saturday and do DK on Sunday. Clearly there are a few of us who would enjoy your presence on Sunday. FINE!!! New plan. I will be at the park on Saturday and Sunday. I think y'all knew you would win me over. Is someone needing an Incredible Express credit? You caught me. New plan. I will be at the park on Saturday and Sunday. I think y'all knew you would win me over. HOOOOOOOORAYYY!!!!! I would bring my DSLR but I kind of want to avoid any fluffy, fluffy bunny filled with medicine and goo use...may just resort to using my iPhone since my pockets are going to be full anyway (Wallet + iPhone + portable charger after taking photos = bulging pockets!). No worries, I'll have my DSLR. I don't expect I'll be riding a whole lot so I don't care about the Lockers. Having worked there so long, I'm pretty bah-humbug about riding those rides. I've been on Medusa probably close to 1000 times... sooo, yeah.
Double0Kevin
Most weather websites are reporting no rain or very little chance of rain for Sunday now. Looks like there will be some tomorrow and Monday. Hope if all stays good for our meet-up on Sunday. Looking forward to seeing some familiar faces as well meeting some of you for the first time. JJnCFL
Yay more new TPR peeps I haven't met! I think I'll bring my DSLR as well as I don't have any shots of Superman from it yet, and plus with our group growing it'll be great to catch all the memories! I usually come early right before opening so how about everyone just meeting right underneath V2 after passing through the metal detectors before 2, therefore we can figure out who needs tickets and what not? Can't wait!
Angry_Gumball
Sounds like a plan! Tempted to bring my DSLR as well, maybe split fluffy bunny fee and share one. If I do bring it, I need to clear my card off...have photos from Haunt opening weekend up to last Weekend's CGA/GWW visit Excited for tomorrow! Gonna be freezing but will be worth it! RAWKIN_coaster38
Looking forward to seeing some familiar faces. Like me?!?!? Sounds like a plan! Tempted to bring my DSLR as well, maybe split fluffy bunny fee and share one. It's really not that bad. Just bring a few crisp singles and you'll be okay. Really the only times you'll need to use them are for the coasters, and thankfully they're all grouped together in two areas. Also, does anyone want FREE parking, or would you like to pay $18? I still have an unclaimed free parking pass! It's a legit parking pass that I won in a contest, but I already have free parking on my season pass. And if you want to coordinate a meet-up ahead of time, or just have someone to contact when you get to the park, msg me!
Mean Streak
Why is Zonga on the 2005 map? Did it run once or twice during the 2005 season?
Double0Kevin
I won't be there right at 2. I'm watching The Hobbit on max before I head over but I'll find you guys once I get there around 230 or 3. Don't get tired of superman before I get there. It's the one I would actually like to ride. Angry_Gumball
I'm now curious about this snow hill they have set up, perhaps there may be insane moments, comparable to the first weekend we did at CGA's Winter Wonderland's super potato sack slide of death The rain has arrived here but it's supposed to be overnight from what I hear. But it's too late, plans are made! Maybe crowds will be minimal tomorrow, meaning more Superman rides!
scooterdoug
Whatever precipitation that occurs tomorrow, I can't imagine that it will be heavy and constant. It's raining right now, but the park is open today (just checked their website). So, yeah, this is totally happening! Where will we meet up? Perhaps somewhere in the ticket booth area? Seeing as I'll be bringing a coupon for someone, meeting outside the gates would seem to make sense. Looking forward to a day of epicness (yes, I know that's not a word). Sunfire
Sorry if this has been asked before, but does Superman shut down in rain?
Double0Kevin
^ I don't believe so. Nothing about it would be effected by the rain since it's all magnets. No worries about slipping or anything.
Double0Kevin
Why is Zonga on the 2005 map? Did it run once or twice during the 2005 season? Missed this earlier. It was supposed to operate, even got as far as being readied by maintenance and the Crew was trained on it; but the plug was pulled right before opening due to issues with the state requirements before it was signed off for operation. The decision was made to not invest in the changes the state wanted and it was put up for sale and eventually removed at the beginning of 2006... Sad story. RAWKIN_coaster38
I'm so excited for today! It's been too long since I've been to the park! And then I see this on SFDK's Facebook, and literally went, "NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!" Six Flags Discovery Kingdom Join us today for Las Posadas! This Hispanic holiday tradition features free giveaways for the kids, Latino music & dancers, plus traditional cuisine. The park is open for Las Posados at Holiday in the Park from 2-8 p.m. (12/16)

The crowds weren't bad as far as lines go, but there were a lot of line jumpers from what I remember.
Angry_Gumball
Actually, this past year when one of those events happened, most seemed nonexistent...most evidence of the event going on was the scent of burritos and carne asada being cooked up. From what I remember last year on the TPR bash on a summer Saturday, there was some event going on but the crowds were still tolerable. I think we should be ok...hopefully many think it's 'too cold' to go out or have xmas shopping to do Totally ready for today, hope it won't be too bad in terms of crowds..want to get plenty of rides in on Superman! Angry_Gumball
I'll probably get mine up tomorrow, definitely some fun antics I just wish I shot more photos but got kind of lazy...could have just left the DSLR at home and relied on my phone since I used that for most of the photos. Definitely had a blast hanging out with everyone...and dinner never felt as nerdy as tonight Let's just say, Superman is amazing! I've never had so much airtime on a coaster before, followed by suddenly forced hard into the seat. There, I got that off my chest.
