OMG!!! I was there today also & I have NEVER seen it so packed there!!! I was miserable!!!

No offense, but what were you expecting? It was the Saturday before Halloween. It's easily one of the busiest weekend of the year with Fright Fest going on.

I've been to Holiday in the Park on weekdays and the lines were minimal to non-existent. The ideal time is when the temperature is warm enough for the rides but too cold for most Californians. Medusa in the dark when it is cold was fun.

Holiday in the park is usually not too busy at all. I've been on weekends and weekdays (as well as worked there for the first 2 seasons of the event) and the lines are always very manageable (max wait is like 15-20 mins for a major). The week after Christmas is especially slow. And the NYE event is a great, safe event if you are interested in that.

Holiday in the Park is my favorite time to go & I'll definitely agree with the others suggesting to go at that time.

The park is nicely decorated for Christmas, lines have always been very minimal, & the park serves up hot drinks as well (dress really warm!!!!!) Coasters at dark in the cold air is of course the best part too!

I just got my season pass 2 weeks ago as well & they are giving a complimentary ticket to those buying passes right now. You can use it any day before January 6th which is awesome as I'm excited to bring a friend to the park during the holidays.

BTW, does anyone feel like SFDK's Fright Fest just seems to be getting worse each year. I remember when the park was Marine World the park was way more decorated & although they only had 1 scare zone & 2 haunted mazes for years, they were way more staffed and scary than all the mazes they have now. This year I thought it was crazy that SFDK thought it was okay to only open 3 boths for wristbands that usually only had 1 person at the register. We waited 40mins just for wristbands, which was more than any wait we had for the mazes. I also didn't see too much decorations & all of the houses were pretty bare (which I expected with the price so I still had fun). I could give excuses for it, but I went last year which was crowded as well so I expected the park to be better prepared for the crowds. Had to listen to so many people complain in line too which wasn't fun to listen too -_-

I usually go to SFDK's Fright Fest every year just because I have a pass so why not. But I seriously think I'm going to have to reconsider next year & use the gas money for something else. The Slaughterhouse maze was nicely done though I'm glad for that addition!

^This was my first year doing Fright Fest so I have nothing to compare it to, but I did notice the lack of decorations in the mazes and around the park and I can agree with you.

I've also never gone to Holiday in the Park and I'm looking forward to going this year!

Yeah besides the water fountain and very few areas it didn't feel much like Halloween. They used to decorate the all of the little lawns right at the park's entrance really well back in the day I miss those decorations.

Oh yay I'm excited for you. If it's like past years, walking by most of the park will keep you feeling that Holiday spirit. Then coasters. Then Holiday feelings again. Then more coasters that have some Christmas lights so you get both.

^I would NOT go on a busy holiday weekend. It would be packed & you would get only 1 ride on Superman. For all rides the lines would be a 2 + hour wait. Unless if you can afford to buy the Fast Lane -platinum version where you wait once & ride twice for $70. If that's the only time you can go it would be so worth it to buy the Fast Lane. I was told on here to go the first weekends of December -all major rides are station waits or walk on's. That's when I plan on going again to get more rides on Superman.

I was there on Black Friday last year and everything had a small wait.

^I would stick with that knowledge. I've never known HiP to be that busy, even on Thanksgiving weekend. Holiday in the Park attracts a lot of families that skip the big thrill rides for family stuff like the snow hill and shows. It's not like the last weekend of FF where it's all ghetto gangbangers trying to cause problems.

I miss the Santa movie in the 3D theater (I miss the 3D Theater in general), it was perfect for Holiday in the Park.

I'm planning on going to SFDK on Saturday, November 24th to finally ride Superman (missed by one week), so if I'm smelling a TPR meet-up, it would be nice to do it on that date so I can attend.

I would probably vote against that date due to it being the Thanksgiving weekend. CROWDS

I take it you did not read the previous 2 posts saying there are no crowds that weekend...

I did read somewhere on this thread that they are going to bring back the 3D theater at some point which they said they were 100% sure about. & What a shame they got rid of that star flyer ride. They needed to keep it. Why did they get rid of it? & Did anyone go on Zonga?(where Superman is now) I went on Zonga once. Wish I got on it more than that. I am however so glad they took out that spinning coaster -that was not a coaster my stomach could handle.

Star Flyer? Sky Screamer? No, that's still there...don't know why they would get ride of a 1-year-old ride. Are you sure you don't mean Starfish? I remember there was an instance where a rider was ejected from the ride. Those Chance Wipeouts always got me nauseated and the whole going backwards always freaked me out a bit...air plus laterals plus can't see where you're going...

I've done Zonga twice its opening year and didn't find it as bad as what people made it out to be. Was a fun ride, though I wish that I was able to ride it in its original form, the way Anton designed it.

I operated Zonga both years it was at the park, as I've said a few times in the past on this thread. I loved it (obviously, look at my avatar).

Skyscreamer is definitely still there, and the 3D theater is highly unlikely to ever return. I'm not sure where you read it, but I would without a doubt say it's not coming back. Just a feeling I have.

A ride similar to Jambo had its gondola crash to the ground with riders aboard several years ago at Liseberg. While I enjoyed Jambo, it was certainly a wise move to remove it if was likely to suffer the same type of failure.

I've never been on that weekend, so I can't speak to the crowd potential. Still, I avoid going to any theme park on a Saturday as a general rule. Even if the crowds are low (I'm assuming they are, considering the number of people posting in this thread who have been during Thanksgiving weekend), I will have family visiting that weekend. So, I wouldn't be able to join in a TPR meet-up. The first couple of weekends in December, however, I will definitely be going. I've already let my wife know that she'll be looking after the kids for several Sundays while I get my reps in. So, how about a meet-up one of those weekends?

^^Yeah your plan sounds better, I wouldn't be able to make Thanksgiving weekend.

Does anyone have a photo of Jambo? For some reason I do not remember this ride at all.

Also what #1rollercoasterfan might be remembering is that at Bay Area Weekend last year during Q&A they said they had plans for the 3D theater. No indication whatsoever of what those "plans" might me.

Plans to tear it down maybe, but other than that I have no clue.

Someone had asked them if they would tear down the theater for a new coaster or something, and they just smiled and said, "We have plans." So most likely it will be torn down for a new attraction, but it could be years before they do so.
