gerstlaueringvar Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 I saw a video on Facebook just now, it is a Drifting Coaster at the test field somewhere. Does anyone know about it? Link to video
dbucknyc Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 I saw the same video and then found this one.
KingRCT3 Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 It's called a Swinging Coaster by Reverchon (Drifting Coaster might be the name the german showman is calling his). This one will go to the German circuit, and Reverchon is hoping to sold more models, even for parks. ^ That video was shot more than a year ago, when they were testing their prototype cars on a standard spinning wild-mouse coaster. On the video posted by gerstlaueringvar, this is the layout made especially for this kind of car (funfair version):
KarlaKoaster Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 It looks like it will either be great fun or really uncomfortable! The one in the video and the first one to tour will be owned by Ahrend and will be in Germany. Here are some more pictures. His Facebook page is https://www.facebook.com/FTE.Ahrend/
Midgetman82 Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 Looks like an excellent concept, but I'm concerned with how sharp the transition into those turns are. I'd sure love to try it though!
Suspence1127 Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 Looks interesting, and seems to be a good alternative to a wild mouse/spinning coaster. If it gets good reviews, hopefully some of these are built at parks in the US!
DoinItForTheFame Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 Looks interesting... but am I the only one who think it looks a little rough??? Those are some pretty quick, and forceful swings!
KarlaKoaster Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 It does look a bit rough, particularly when the car is swinging the wrong way into a turn, but bear in mind these are test runs so it's too early to tell whether this is how it will ride (plus we don't know if the car has ballast in etc).
jedimaster1227 Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 I feel like these trains could be fun on other styles of track, but putting something like this on a wild mouse layout seems like a great way to slam someone into the side of the seat even more than they do today...
KingRCT3 Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 The fact is, the vehicle as Reverchon designed it, is unable to do banked turns and all other kind of stuffs. It can only navigate through 2D curves at a time.
Rill'o'beily Posted December 10, 2015 Posted December 10, 2015 I guess a layout something like this would be interesting for this car. [youtu_be]https://youtu.be/Qge_QDq6ftA[/youtu_be]
DoinItForTheFame Posted December 10, 2015 Posted December 10, 2015 Wow that's... --------------------- I like the "idea" of this coaster. If they could perfect it a lot more. The movement of the cars reminds me of the S&S Free Fly Coaster. Just above the track instead of beside the track.
Midgetman82 Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 ^^^With a car similar to that of a HUSS Booster, I'd sure love to see something with a layout almost like that be made!
Samuel Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 A little bit of a thread resurrection here...I saw this on the "up next" panel on YouTube and hadn't seen this old thread or style of train before. The first zig-zag sequence had me smiling and leaning in with intrigue for the concept, but by the last sequence I'd put my money on feeling nauseated. It looks like the boy facing backwards in the off-ride POV is getting pummeled with headbanging/body slams. Anyone get a chance to ride one these?
KBrylczyk Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 ^ Someone posted their POVs and thoughts a little while ago. I think it was at a German fair. The idea is cool and all but it's basically a suspended coaster that isn't actually suspended, you know?
FLIPDUDE Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 Frankly? I think it looks fun as hell, even if the transitions are a bit janky. Looks way better than a boring old wild mouse coaster!
palmerleeberry Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 I'll say put that type of coaster inside a dark ride and you'll have a ride that the riders and amusement park flyers would flock in droves to ride on. "Whenever someone mentions dark ride, the bed is the first thing that comes to mind."
funtime_arena Posted September 8, 2016 Posted September 8, 2016 Here a onride video of the drifting coaster at the funfair in Düren (Germany)
