I voted for Wicked Cyclone as while both rides look amazing, Wicked Cyclone looks a little more intense, and the more intense the ride is, the better. Though I will admit that I do prefer the look of Twisted Colossus over Wicked Cyclone.

Opening Day: I would vote Twisted Colossus

Second Year of Operation: I would vote Wicked Cyclone

I really see problems with the Twisted Colossus operations.

They should have definitely waited an extra year to have two full sides of Colossus. There's no way Six Flags will be able to time the dispatches correctly.

Oh so you mean Twisted Colossus will get the eventual Six Flags treatment? Aka run both sides opening season, then never run together again after a year and a half with one side sitting dormant for large amounts of time?

Even though my views on the rolls have already been stated, Wicked Cyclone looks better to me than Twisted Colossus. It really is only a matter of time before Twisted Colossus turns into Dragon Challenge the sequel.

I concur with this analysis.

Perhaps the blocking and computer systems on Twisted Colossus are more sophisticated than we are anticipating. I would like to hope that as long as Six Flags runs at least 2 trains on TC that the computer and blocking systems will do the rest.

LIke people were pointing out how when Dueling Dragons dueled the lift hill speeds would adjust etc; THAT WAS IN '98! The advancement of computers has increased 100 fold since then.

People are moaning that half the Colossus layout will be missing from the new ride.

But as you'll effectively go around the new ride twice the overall track length is about the same for an individual rider as it was on old Colossus (you didn't get to go round twice there did you) - so I can't actually see what the problem is other than the loss of the structure.

Twisted Colossus is a single track coaster now. A möbius loop. They can't close once side of it because the train has to complete both circuits before it returns to the station.

All they can do is put fewer trains on so that the duelling doesn't work - but they can't close one side like they could with the old ride.

You're missing the point. We trust the computers and technology.

As others have said and pointed out we don't trust that people won't throw things, that they will run it with the correct amount of trains to keep the dueling going, etc.

None of the three existing mobius coasters need to complete both circuits before returning to the station.

The one in Mexico frequently runs only one train.

This ride isn't like the other mobius coasters, the train doesn't reenter the station after completing one side. It goes straight into the other side. I don't even think we should be calling it a mobius coaster because it's kind of deceptive and confusing, it's really just one ride with two very similar halves. So no, they can't close one side. However I do see them going down to one or two trains frequently, and if there's only two trains then at the most you could get 1/2 a ride dueling.

People are absolutely allowed to be excited, again, I'm just stating my opinion. But I don't really understand the reasoning going on here. Wouldn't you prefer one continuous ride, that was approximately 4000 feet long, that did all that incredible dueling stuff, but didn't have a lift hill in the middle and wasn't essentially the same ride twice? That's what the ride could have been if they'd kept it as two separate tracks and used all of the existing structure. I know that's sure as heck what I'd prefer, but for some reason everybody is acting like what they're actually getting is preferable.

How many times have you gotten off of a ride and wished you could ride it again? Or got right back in line? No need to do that now. You get to experience it twice (second time being slightly different actually after watching the video again) without having to wait again.

And this is actually not even close to be accurate either. The two sides are different...VERY different. It will be like riding Smiler where you have an entire experience that's broken up by a lift hill. While I agree with those saying that I'd rather have a 4,500 foot ride that happens all at once, that concept for Colossus doesn't exist and what we currently have is WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY better than the old Colossus, which hasn't been a good ride since 1985.

I'm not a huge fan of having a lift hill in the middle of a coaster, but that doesn't mean I not/wasn't a fan of rides like Big Bad Wolf, The Beast, Smiler, Takabisha, Big Thunder Mountain, etc....

^Yes what Twisted Colossus is IS preferable to the fake version of the ride you came up with that was never planned.

Ok, explain why.

I totally get that you would prefer something that actually exists to something that doesn't exist. But can you imagine how many conversations on this board could be stopped dead by saying the same thing?

"Wouldn't Kingda Ka be a better ride if there was more to the layout after the tophat?

"No, because that ride doesn't exist, and Kingda Ka does!"

"Wouldn't Maverick be a better ride if it had different restraints?"

"No, because it has the restraints it has!"

It doesn't even make any sense. What I'm proposing could easily have happened if Six Flags wasn't a bunch of cheap skates, and IMO would have been a better ride. If you disagree, fine, but try to actually have a reason for it is all I'm saying.

Nevermind, just watched the video again and I can spot the differences better when actually watching for them. First inversion, blue train just does a roll. Second one, the green train (the Top Gun Stall) actually hangs inverted before completing the inversion. There are also different elements taken to get to those inversions.

Either way, I'm excited about this ride no matter what.

Mater, if you base your expectations of a ride on the accents you hear while waiting in line, I'm not even sure what to say...

Having lived both in New England and Anaheim I have lost my accent after getting sick of the daily dose of judgement on having one in the first place.

If it annoys you so much, you should just never leave California as there are accents all over the country.

As for these two rides, it's like comparing apples and oranges. TC will be much longer and unique in the extra lap feature, but I feel Wicked Cyclone will be the more intense ride.

They will both be massive improvements, both coasts should be very satisfied.

"Have a wicked pissah day Cali."
