  1. Well, I did it that way for a few reasons. I wanted to maintain the character of the original ride, so I turned the first helix into a "lateral buffet" like the Knoebels Twister, and kept the surprise dip at the end. For the second helix, I wanted to focus on strong, sustained positive g's, like the first helix on SNFE's Superman (though I admit an underbank would probably have been better than an overbank there). And then I made the finish completely bonkers to contrast with the sustained forces of the first half. But yeah, I'm perfectly fine with a chain lift, though it wouldn't be as "turbo". Thanks for the review!
  2. What would be really great is if they re-did it in Topper Track, and made it a more exciting version of itself. No inversions. Just a Lightning Rod-style double drop, steeper/extra hills, a first helix more like the one here: ...Hide an overbank in the huge fan curve under the first helix, and heck, add an LSM launch or at least a superfast lift. Call it "Turbo Typhoon".
  3. I never heard of one, either. I hoped that somebody here would know. But the Lightning wasn't mirrored. http://reverebeach.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/lightining-coaster.jpg But I should definitely get my hands on that book. Maybe next year.
  4. I found this on part of a "Coney Island" reel. Skip to 1:01. [youtu_be] [/youtu_be] A lot of it is footage from Coney Island itself, but the other wooden coaster before this one probably isn't. The other footage isn't mirrored, so I wonder if there was a fourth Cyclone which actually was a mirror image of the other three.
  5. Superman: The Ride - get rid of the headrests and that god-awful audio. Audio on the lift hill would be okay, though. Boulder Dash - make the first drop steeper. That's all I ask. Wicked Cyclone - the ending is way too tame compared to the beginning of the ride. Perhaps they could switch to steel wheels and raise the turn just a little bit. Also, change the color scheme back to white and blue.
  6. What's the green RMC track? A smaller single-rail type?
  7. I want to go on something more thrilling than Steel Dragon 2000.
  8. By that logic, wouldn't being pushed into your seat at the top of a tight loop be negative g's? And going through a sideways helix be lateral g's? We're talking about forces exerted on the rider.
  9. I find it hilarious that the fake weather report, the two anchors names were "William Schilke" and "Alan Cobb". Well-played, Six Flags, well-played.
  10. I'm going to have to be careful where I sit if what many of the previous posters have been saying is true. *shudders*
  11. My avatar (and username) came from that Screamscape joke where people sporting RMC shirts and hoodies were spotted (read: Photoshopped into photos taken) at multiple parks across the world.
  12. I just started watching that video myself. I had to stop watching before I started pulling my hair out. "ermagherd melernermerm furse is teh greatest costurr on teh planet and rebble yells is so unique!!!1" I'm getting ready to post a long diatribe refuting their claims.
  13. - After two rides on SFNE's Mind Eraser, I've sworn off Vekoma SLC's (at least the standard version). - I'm done with Goliath until they do something about those Premier trains. - I used to be able to marathon wave swingers as a kid, but now they make me nauseous. I'm really hoping NESS won't produce this effect. - I can't do teacups. Too much rotation on too many axes. - I nearly vomited after riding Rev-O-Lution (a Zamperla Disk'O) at Lake Compounce. But I'm fine on Tomahawk. Must be the inward-facing seats. Wipeouts/Trabants are iffy. I like the one at Lake Compounce, but hate Joker's Wildcard at SFNE. LC's was running a more airtime-heavy program, so perhaps the vertical motion somehow helped cancel out the nausea from spinning. I got queasy at Quassy after riding theirs.
  14. Boulder Dash used to really scare me as a little kid, but now I can handle just about any coaster that isn't a collision simulator. However, there are still some rides that freak me out. Giant Inverted Boomerangs - Going backwards up that vertical spike is probably the closest one can get to the feeling of being a falcon's prey. But it's also one of my favorite aspects of the ride. I sure hope SFNE is able to fix the roughness issue with Goliath's Premier train so I can get back to riding it again. Rock-O-Planes - These can be pretty scary if you don't know what you're doing. The only time I've been on one was two years ago, and I had no idea that you're supposed to steer it. Ouch! Body slides - Even the measly tunnel twisters they have at Lake Compounce still kind of scare me. And Bonzai Pipelines at SFNE was the scariest ride I've ever been on. But I still go on them. I haven't been on a Skycoaster or anything of that sort, and I'm not sure if I want to.
  15. Could you describe them in detail? I'd love to make a NoLimits mockup.
  16. I was talking about converting it into a wooden coaster, and perhaps smoothing out the transitions a little bit. The Wicked Twister one was supposed to be only half-serious. Twisted Wicker?
  17. Here's ten crazy coaster ideas for Cedar Point, a park I've never been to. 1. Give Mean Streak a Topper Track refurbishment with a vertical drop and four inversions (2 zero-g rolls, 1 stall, 1 heartline). Keep the name. 2. Give Gemini RMC trains and a Topper Track treatment, without changing the layout. Paint it white. 3. Get rid of the headrests on Blue Streak. 4. Re-track and re-profile Corkscrew with Chance Morgan track. Give it new lap bar only trains. 5. If that works out, do the same for Magnum XL-200. 6. Purchase Banshee-style trains for Raptor. 7. Re-profile Millennium Force's hills for more airtime. 8. Remove Pipe Scream from the website's roller coaster list. 9. Replace Wicked Twister with a wooden version of SFDK's Superman, and call it "Twisted Wicker", just because. 10. Build the world's tallest tower coaster, and name it "Beacon of Nope". If possible, this one will have trains, rather than single cars.
  18. Why would the Gravity Group design Timberliners for NoLimtis 1 if they could just buy NoLimits 2, which has Timberliners?
  19. Cyclone always had a bunch of fire extinguishers. They were probably there to make it seem less suspicious if the coaster ever mysteriously caught fire.
  20. I think it's just supposed to be a generic wind monster like the ones on old maps. *Edit* - It might be the "North Wind" character originating in one of Aesop's Fables.
  21. I was alone on Wildcat at Lake Compounce once this year, on the last train of the day. It was fun, but kind of awkward.
