sfne2005
OK, here's the story. I want to get my first tattoo, though I don't know what to get. I want something that is relative to who I am and representative of my interests. Which brings me to this page since coasters is one of my interests. I don't want a particualr coaster (since my favorite may change in the future). So anyone have any ideas or drawings of anything coaster related (maybe a track design, or something like the new RCDB.com picture) which I could consider? Maybe even something like Boulder Dash's with a generic wooden coaster front car) with peeps hands in the air? I found only one person on the net with a coaster tattoo, and that was the layout of nemesis @ Alton Towers, and it is not distictive enough to be recognized as such to many enthusiasts, never mind a non enthusiast. Just throwing that idea out there, even though its a little dorky. Thanks, Rich

SharkTums
I believe that Mind Eraser on this board has a few coaster related tattoos. I always liked the idea of doing like a track design.
Jeezus Juice
First rule of tattoos, never get anything that means something. There are only 2 people in the world who care about your tattoo, you and the guy who's not going to hire you because of it. Think about all the people who got Beavis and Butthead tattoos about 10 years ago, how do you think they feel now? Or those people that get their kids names inked on them, what is wrong with those people. I mean, if you live in a trailer park somewhere and you need a way for police to identify you when your found passed out drunk when they bring your kid home or something it might come in handy. Otherwise- extremely tacky. If I had to settle on a coaster theme tat though, I'd get Intamin box track that wraped completely around my leg in a verticle orientation, as if I just stuck my leg through some coaster track, that'd be pretty cool actually. -Jeezus "Will probably get a barrel of monkeys as his next tattoo" Juice
USRoadTripper
The first one is what I plan on getting as soon as I get the spare cash. It will be just like that only with the Opryland guitar logo really small on the front of the train, to make it Wabash Cannonball. I really don't think it's something I will grow out of, as I will always like both Opryland and coasters to one degree or another. I want it on the upper right side of my back. The second one I've wanted for years now, but have been told it would be super expensive because of all the different colors to it. Anyone recognize what it is? P.S. Jeezus Juice
^ what the heck is that second one? Is it from captain planet or Magic the gathering? My idea was for a tat was Mr. T coming out of a tornado/vortex all genie like screaming with a gun to his head and his other fist around the neck of a cartoon chicken. Forgive my awesome paint skills but this is the general idea
sfne2005
US Road Tripper, Too funny that you posted that pic. I have been searching all night and my buddy and I found that one too before I checked back here. I was drawing tribal stuff on each side of it! BiCoastal Kid
Get a band of track around your arm or something... I plan on getting a non-coaster one around my wrist when I can.
Erik Johnson
I recognize the 2nd one. Its all the old logos to all the original Future World attractions at Epcot. From the top going clockwise, if I remember correctly: World of Motion, Journey Into Imagination, The Land, The Living Seas, Spaceship Earth, Universe of Energy, Wonders of Life, and Horizons. The World of Motion is the original attraction before Test Track (still same building) Horizons once stood where Mission: Space is now.
coaster1
Let's see color has no bearing on price at all .. so whoever told you that is full of crap. The pricing is based on location on the body and degree of difficulty. The bottom one would be expensive if kept that size and frankly any good artist wouldn't do it that small because over time it will look like crap and they wouldn't want their name on that. USRoadTripper
Too funny that you posted that pic. I have been searching all night and my buddy and I found that one too before I checked back here. I was drawing tribal stuff on each side of it! Yeah, that's just clip art that I found somewhere online, but I fell in love with it. I'd been pondering wanting something Opryland related, and when I found that I thought it was perfect. My other option was a graphic that was on the side of beer steins that used to be sold at Opryland, showing the double corkscrew with the word "Opryland" hidden in the track supports. I'm still quite a ways away from getting it since they don't come that cheap. As for the second one, I was told that for each new color, they'd have to use all new equipment, and that would make the price higher. Was also told that they were too detailed to look good for very long. To make them look good for a long time, they'd have to be too big for my comfort, so I ruled that one out. The corkscrew one could easily be simplified, but the Epcot one couldn't be. Oh well, it's probably just a pipe dream anyway -Julie
coaster1
For each color they just wash the needle in saline, sterile saline. Since the needle is new and sterile before use, the fact of the water becoming tainted with nothing but your blood is super super thin, no reason to change out the needles. They will change for outline and shading, if the tattoo warrants it .. depending on how much shading they have to use.
Nrthwnd
Agreed with coaster1. If you have a good tattooist, usually recommended by someone else you already know (?) they usually give you a per-hour fee. And that's the way it'll go, depending on whether it's a lot of lines, or filled-in areas, etc. Money = time = something yours and personal and coaster-friendly, heh heh. Great idea. And USRT your coaster 'swirl' is really nice. Before I saw that, I was reading down and wondering how to maybe figure a design out. And then, there was yours! Nice and clean. And I really don't think any brand-name logo should be there. Concept as is, alone? Yes. It looks really nice the way it is as I am seeing it now. And great some of us still remember those old EPCOT Pavillion logos. I immediately knew what they were, and started scrolling down to find out if anybody... and darn if ya beat me to it, Mr.Johnson. LOL Good stuff. ~ ~ ~ (I have two tats of my own, one each arm )
CoasterFanatic
The Epcot one would definately be difficult. There isn't any outline and it is "geometrical. All the lines would have to be perfect or it would look like poop. Whatever you get make it big. Small tattoos look silly.

Mind Eraser
I printed the Mind Eraser logo off the web, sized it to my liking, and took it to the tat shop. I had it tattooed on my right, outer ankle. I actually thought long and hard about my decision. The SFA Mind Eraser means a lot to me - so much history, so many memories (I grew up riding it, I was the first person on it, and I even operated it for a season). I would never get another coaster tattoo, however, because there is no other ride that means that much to me. Eventually, I am going to get some kind of non-coaster-related band around my left ankle. I'm going through piercing withdrawl right now, though. I've always had facial piercings since I was 16; and now, I have none. Eyebrow, nose, lip, labrat... gone gone gone! All I have left is my tongue and both nipples.
Teddymonster
First rule of tattoos, never get anything that means something. There are only 2 people in the world who care about your tattoo, you and the guy who's not going to hire you because of it. Okay...I TOTALLY disagree with your first point. Tattoos should mean something, because if they don't, it would seem like a waste of time and a random branding. I do, however, agree that one should be careful to put them in a place on his/her body that can be covered-up, in case you plan on getting a "white-collar" job one day. When I get my tattoos I think about about them for a while, and try to contemplate if it is something I can LIVE with for the rest of my life. If you are planning to get a tattoo, yet have any doubts or insecurities about whether or not you can live with your tattoo...DON'T DO IT!!! If you have any questions pertaining to tattoos, I can send you mine and tell you about each one.
calcajun
My suggestion is certainly get something meaningfull to you. Don't rely on someone suggesting an artist! Go to every shop in your area and look at every artist's book. When you find someone who draws and tats in a style you like go with that artist. Now that you know who's work you like best, talk with them about a general idea and also show them some pics BUT just use that as the general idea and ask then to draw something original for you. Example as my stuff is all original drawn by the artist's. My "dago" piece was drawn freehand directly on me except for the stenciled letters. calcajun
By the way, You do see three seperate tats in the first pic. The only time my tats show is if i wear tank top and shorts. I have no problem getting employement cause they don't show unless i want then to. Be shure you want what you want. Be shure to place them properly so they will not affect you negatively down the road.
Real
Get a band of track around your arm or something... I plan on getting a non-coaster one around my wrist when I can. I saw someone at CP with Arrow track around their ankle. Not sure why Arrow, but at least its old school. It did look cool as it twisted around in an endless loop of rotation.
