Cedar Fair Files a New Trademark

Recommended Posts

Aren't Cedar Point and Kings Island constructing buildings that are expected to be haunt mazes? Sounds like a great name for a new haunt.

Haunt name wouldn't be trademarked unless it was going to be for a year round haunt.

Not necessarily true... Cedar Fair also held trademarks for "Alien Crypt 3D" and "Nightmare Manor", both of which were seasonal mazes at various Haunt events.

Just did some more research on Rougarou. Apparently, the Rougarou is under a spell for 101 days.

A coaster with a drop of 325+ feet could achieve speeds of approximately 101 mph. Just throwing that out there....

I don't know, it could be possible, but Rougarou sounds like it should either be a wood coaster, dark ride, or haunt. Whatever it is at least it's an original name and not something generic.

Kings Island has the Wolf Pack in the old Son of Beast station and KI is building something next to Beast - hmmm, new werewolf haunt in the new spot so that they could tear down the remains of SOB.

Personally, I'm hoping for new dark ride for Cedar Point, as the park hasn't had one for some time. Something like Wonder Mountain's Guardian would be good, too.

That's expected but I hope they don't go that route. Cedar Point can do better...

Guessing this is for a new haunt.

Maybe it's for Carowinds new giga coaster?

First we had Centurion for that (which has since been canceled.) Now we have Fury 325. I can't imagine what else could be "Fury 325" besides a giga. Except if another CF park is getting a giga for 2016 or so.

I doubt this is for a giga. fury 325 is for giga, and the new trademark is for a haunt maze. Although, here's a question. Does cedar fair usually file a trademark for haunt maze names?

I wouldn't think so since haunt mazes are seasonal attraction and aren't open year round.

Plot twist - It's a haunt built below Banshee on the old SOB ground. No actors, though. It's just a memorial haunt to SOB and you walk in a circle twenty times.

Walk in a circle twenty times while dynamite goes off below the floor repeatedly and the floor is rotating at about 80mph. This would be a true SoB memorial haunt. (I can't confirm this, considering I don't remember SoB that well.)

Yeah, and for the first half of Haunt, the floor will turn upside down and the dynamite will stop while it does so, but the second half will remove that feature (I heard the loop was smoother while it was there.)

Believe it wil be CW's 2016?attraction, and not due to the French name.

If you look at the trends of the coasters they've gotten since cedar fair took over CW, it fits perfectly. It seems to follow a four year pattern, with the names matching up with the Olympic Venues for that yeàr:

2008 - Behemoth - Beijing

2012 - Leviathan - London

2016 - Rougarou - Rio

Yes, this may be a coincidence, and I may be overthinking it, but just wait and see in two years.

You're definitely overthinking it.

A GCI twister (ala Goldstriker) for CP??

I know everyone wants RMC but they seem a little tied up at the moment (with two rumored huge projects at MM and NE) and GCI did an awesome job with GS, don't see any reason why CF wouldn't go with them again. All speculation though...

well if its for a ride, then it probably would be for a coaster or large attraction. Correct me if I'm wrong, but parks don't usually file the trademark if its a smaller ride. And as for the name, it seems like it would be a steel coaster for me. I dunno, it just sounds like a steel. And I'll second the thoughts about it being for CP's dark ride!

I kinda like the theming of wolves chasing you on a coaster. Why do you NOT think it's wooden? Cedar Point needs a wooden coaster. I can't stress to you how much a crappy ride Mean Streak is. I one them even fell asleep on it for god's sake! But a French named coaster in Frontier Town is the weirdest thing ever (2nd is when SFNE added Goliath when they had Flashback and 3rd is La Ronde when they added a SLC when they had a B&M invert.) A French themed dark ride with wolves chasing you and you shoot it at the wolves sounds like an epic dark ride. The only problem with the dark ride is that it's going to the be in the Coliseum (arcade by Raptor) and the front's received a LOT of love in 2013 with GateKeeper and the front gate redo. The middle got some love this year with Pipe Scream and Lake Erie Eagles. The back needs some love. Skyhawk is the lastest love they've given to the back in 2009.
