P. 651: Montezooma's Revenge project terminated?

I wonder if any future attractions will have anything to do with Playhouse being removed? I mean there is enough room in Snoopy for a nice rollerskater, but in terms of something big, I don't know. It might be years before we see another large edition to the park. I mean, Silver Bullet barely fits in there as is.

Thanks for reminding me about that point. I remember when they took out the Playhouse there were a lot of rumors and speculation about a new attraction being put into that space but time kinda wore down the hype...

The park has plenty of room for another BIG attraction or two if they wanted to add one.

Just look at parks like Grona Lund or Blackpool if you need an example of places that have no room but yet still seem to add big attractions.

We all had this exact same discussion prior to Silver Bullet's being added. They made the room for a giant B&M invert, I'm sure they can find the room for something else.

^No. Just refurbish it. You know, retrack it, redo the trains except for the center-divider to keep the riders from smacking each other. That's a lifesaver!

That would be even better. The whole time I was riding it I was getting angrier at how potentially awesome Ghostrider is. I'm really disappointed I never got to ride it when it was new.

so I see them adding more kiddie/flat rides along with general park improvements.

I don't think so.

World of Color 2010, what ever SFMM is adding in 2010 and 2011, Transformers: The Ride in 2011, Little Mermaid 2011, Star Tours 2 2011, Cars Land 2012, and the completion of DCA makeover 2012.

With that kind of competition, I don't think Knotts is going to add more kiddie rides.

I have not been to Knotts in a very long time (I live in Virginia), so if that is what you think, I will take your word. If that is the case, I say they need something from B&M to really make their coaster fleet world class.

None of those attractions are in any way competition for Knott's. In fact, I can tell you that members of the parks senior management have told me they "Love it when Disneyland gets a new attraction! Our attendance goes up! If Disneyland builds a ride that brings people in from out of town, we benefit from that increase as well."

So Disneyland building lots of new attractions is actually GOOD for Knott's, not competition.

^^ They may get a bump in attendance from out-of-towners, but isn't Knotts main crowd locals?

It just seems like all those other attractions at the other parks will draw away local guests that will spend a day at Universal, Disney, or SFMM rather than Knotts to do the new attractions.

^Knott's is in Buena Park, which is very close to the DLR. There are probably plenty of tourists who are willing to hop down the road from Disney for some bigger thrills, and tourists are the ones with money to spend. Locals like me just milk the season pass for all it's worth and eat sandwiches from home. Then again, Robb just said he heard this from senior management at Knott's, so what would they know?

Er...what about Silver Bullet? It's not a forceful one, but it's definitely an inverted B&M.

Knotts does have alot of locals, but I think they have alot of spillover attendance from Disneyland too. I know alot of people that travel from out of state and 90% of them who visit Disney on their trip also visit Knotts one day, SFMM one day and SeaWorld one day. and will usualy hit Vegas on their way out. Disney adds attendance to all of the major themeparks out here, alot more than we all think I would bet.

Good point, but if this claim is true, then the spillover attendance Knott's gets from Disneyland would be irrelevant, as all local parks would have the same edge. That being said, Knott's would have to compete with at the very least, other local parks, (SFMM and SW, and maybe even USH)

True, they will still have to compete with each other, but if I were the average tourist, and have visited all the parks before, I would still make it a point to visit all of them again regardless if they have added anything new or not. The only reason I wouldn't visit one of the parks is if I had a VERY bad experience at one.

I go to SFMM quite a few times in a year, and they dont have to add a new attraction every month to keep me coming back that much. The reason I return so often is because I enjoy whats there already, and I think the same goes for tourists, if they have never been they will go to see it for the first time, if they have been before they will go to enjoy it all again, especially if they know they cant return for a few years. So if Disney adds a new multi billion dollar attraction good enough to bring people from all around the world, most of those tourists dont come out for just a few days, they come for a week or more and fit all they can into their trip. So the only competition I see is how close the surrounding parks are, and in that case, Knotts has the clear advantage.
